Tecra M5-388: Question on the Chipset

Is identical to the M5 T2400 chipset on a new tecra M5 - 388 (T5600)? We created an image for the M5 T2400 PTM51E 02S01REN, but now they'll end of line I need to know if our existing image will work on the replacement of M5 - 388 (T5600) PTM51E-0N8050EN.

I found the same info.
Each Tecra M5 of the PTM51E series uses the same type of Intel 945 PM + Intel 82801GBM chipset

    Salvation;
I have a tecra m3 760 and I want to know if it is possible to restore my laptop with the recovery cd without having to install additional software like norton internet security, windvd etc.
I want to install only the drivers and windows. I know that I can uninstall the software after installation, but I'd rather try to install with this software.

Another question, do you know where can find a manual recovery CD?

    Thanks in advance, controlaltdel

    Hello

On the Toshiba Recovery CD, you will find an image file. This file contains all of the drivers and software and it of not possible to install this image without the stuff of Toshiba.
As you say after the recovery process, you can delete all not important applications.
Well, the other option is to install a new original Microsoft Windows, and then install the drivers of Toshiba. The drivers, you will find on the CD of tools & utilities delivered.
It is important to install drivers in the correct order.
Common modules, graphics driver, utility Chipset, etc.

You can follow the order on the tools & utility CD.

  • Tecra M5-388: touchpad question after you have connected the new adapter

    Hello

I have recently brought a new adapter to replace my old on my Tecra M5-388 by ebay, it has the Toshiba logo on it and safety symbols and plug in my mouse immediately after began to falter on the point that I rely on and the touch pad has become rather not consistent; Disconnect the power supply and it goes back to normal.

The thing is that the former adapter was a clover sheet plug in brick, even if this new is a figure 8.
Does anyone know if the maps are specific to each model?
I'm a little worried that too much current is running through the laptop.

    Any help would be great.

    That s a great info!

  • Tecra M3 - questions about the RAM maximum and graphics driver update

    Hi people,

I have a Tecra M3 (Variant FBCF with the Geforce 6600 w / 128 MB) and I have two questions that I hope someone here can help me with:

    (1) what is the maximum amount of RAM that I can install here? The manual says 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), but I do not see why the laptop would be paralyzed this necessary way, cause as far as I know the 915G chipset can handle 4 GB of RAM. If anyone knows definitively what?

    (2) the latest drivers from nvidia for XP are 2005. As most of you probably know, nvidia systematically more than past performance with versions driver and adds compatibility with some games that end up in trouble. The real driver from the nvidia site does not install because it says that it cannot find any compatible hardware. Can't Toshiba even a pilot updated annually? There is a driver of 2007 for Vista, I can't believe that if they did, they decide refresh the XP one while they were to him. Any chance of their audience on this here? I could force the nvidia.com driver to install, but I don't think that it's necessarily a great idea.

    Thank you!

    Hello

the maximum amount specified for this machine memory is 2 GB and 4 GB not but you can try it with 2x2gb modules.

With regard to your graphics: Don t use the nvidia driver since it is not suitable for mobile graphics chipsets and has no timing in the driver that is needed to run flawlessly.

I'd rather you to view laptopvideo2go and download some drivers here. :)

    Welcome them

  • Question about the installation of Vista on Tecra A8

    Hi all

I bought today TOSHIBA Tecra A8.
My question is when in the future, I'll have to reinstall vista how can I do?
Installation is automatic when I start my PC.
Is there a folder or an option to save the installation procedure on a cd or a dvd?

You can do this very easily. Branded WXP running the BIOS update first. After doing this use the Vista CD/DVD facilities and install Vista operating system. The last step is to install all the stuff from Toshiba (drivers, tools and utilities). All these things you can find on the download page of Toshiba.

  • A few questions about the installation of the Intel Chipset drivers

Out of curiosity... and I know that this may sound like a stupid question... Lets say you have installed chipsets Intel first you're supposed to do... then you install the rest (Management Interface Intel, graphics, SATA, Audio, network and all other driver updates required).
What happens when 6 months later, a newer version of the Intel Chipset Software becomes available?
    !. Install you or not?
    2. If you do not install a version more recent Intel chipsets don't you then have to install all your drivers hardware ((Interface de gestion Intel, graphics, SATA, Audio, réseau) again? IE does affect the previous drivers you may have installed in a recommended installation order.) I'm asking this is because I know its critics that the Intel Chipsets are installed before anything else and Im not 100% sure why, but I have a good idea.
A newer version of the Intel Chipsets would affect all previous hardware drivers that you have installed or would it just make new chipsets more compatible with all new devices you might install in the future without interfering with previous drivers for any hardware that you have already installed?
Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question. Im just trying to better understand how to work the Intel Chipsets

    Hi Delboy777,

    To answer your questions;

    1 Yes

    2 NO.

For the initial installation of the operating system, chipset driver allows the OS to recognize the best material. But the chipset driver update doesn't impact no other drivers, even if it can improve compatibility.

  • Tecra A2 - Question about the different stacks

You have a problem with getting a new battery for a Tecra A2 PTA20A 20R002. The battery that came out of the laptop is a PA3356U-2BAS. Product Toshiba says that the battery is a PA3356U-1BAS or PA3357U-1BAL (high capacity).

    Is the PA3356U-1BAS PA3356U-2BAS and PA3356U-3BAS (incidentally)?

Also can I can use PA3357U-3BAL instead of the PA3357U-1BAL?

I find it difficult to source the battery the numbers indicated on the technical specifications of Toshiba in Australia (can't find compatibiles). PA3357U-3BAL seems to be pretty easy to find.

    Thank you

    Hi Goldostef,

Did you find similar topics on the SATA drivers? ;)

The SATA drivers you want to say are part of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver and not the chipset drivers. So if please check again from Toshiba Web site and download it mentioned driver that contains the driver you are looking for.

  • Tecra M9 longer works with the Advanced Port Replicator III

    Hello

I have the Advanced Port Replicator III Plus (PA3474E-1PRP), and it works very well with my M5 (M3 and M200). For example I connect my laptop through it to my monitor/mouse/keyboard/external DVD/hard drives, sound, webcam etc...

Now, I'm to assess what should I buy as my next laptop and the M9 (PTM91E-03000MEN) seems good.

Question: * the M9 will work with my plu III advanced port replicator? *

Otherwise, * y at - it another docking station option that will allow me to connect a M5 and an M9 * please? (of course not at the same time).

If there is no solution that allows a single docking station for the M5 and M9, then I might as well choose a laptop from another supplier... Main reason to stick to Toshiba all these years is the docking station compatibility that I move older models to the newest...

    All thoughts welcome...

    See you soon
    Daniel
    --

Tecra M9 and Tecra M5 do not have the same docking connector.
This means Tecra M5 is the APR III +, Tecra M9 has Express Port Replicator.
You need the correct docker for each system.

May it is a solution to be able to use the Toshiba Dynadock. It's USB based:

  • A few questions about the upgrade on Satellite A300-144

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

    > 3. I know, my CPU is? FC-PGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) will be a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • Question on the extension memory on the Satellite A80 117

I have a question about the compatibility of memory.
(The A8-117 is a Centrino 1.6 GHz (Pentuin M 730 processor) with Frontal 533 MHz bus and 2 MB of level 2, Intel® 915GM Express chipset)

At the moment I have 1 chip of 512 MB (333 MHz, 2.5 CL) installed. I intend to switch to 1.5 or 2 GB. So what bothers me is: can I install a DDR2 533 MHz modules on this laptop (in this case the old 333 MHz one out)?
Official website of Toshiba only 333 MHz DDR are provided, so that the 915GM express chipset allowes it.

If it is not possible to 533, I guess I'll just buy 1 extra GB of 333 MHz DDR.

    Thanks in advance!
    Bostjan

    Hello

At first, I want to say, which is always recommended to use RAM compatible and tested modules. On this way, you will be sure that it will work well and without any problems.

According to the specifications of the laptop you can upgrade RAM to 2 GB max and compatible modules are: PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 2M 51) and 1024Mo PC2700 (PA3313U-2M1G).

You can use faster RAM modules, but for me it is really not necessary. The specification of the laptop is the 333 MHz bus speed and faster modules will be not useful for laptop runs faster. It is best to buy 2 x PA3313U-2M1G and you will have no problem and portable will runs much more quickly than before.

  • Question about the extension of RAM for Satellite A50-522

    Hello

I have a Satellite A50-522, with a Pentium M 715 @1. 5 Ghz processor and Intel 855GME chipset. To expand its RAM I referred to the Spain/Toshiba support website and I bought the PA3313U-2M1G (1 GB SDRAM 166 MHz DDR333/PC2700) via amazon.com. It turns out that this RAM is for "Alviso chipsets" - which are those relating to the Intel Centrino processors with 9xx series express chipset. I called Toshiba/USA and they recommend the PA3313U-1M1G or its equivalent Kingston KTT3311 / 1 G (since it is impossible to find in the Mexico), instead of the one I already bought. They all seem exactly the same thing in their description, except for the note "alviso chipset.

    My questions are:
    (a) is the chipset of this computer, considered "alviso" type? and
    (b) if not, should I keep the RAM I bought already (PA3313U-2M1G for alviso chipset)?, can I have performance or compatibility problems? What are the risks of the use of this "alviso RAM' in a 'no-alviso chipset? I deeply appreciate your input.

    Thank you!

    Hello

The RAM modules for especially for chipsets alviso are not known to me, but the Satellite A50-522 certainly supports the memory PC2700 PA3313U-1M1G bar.
I guess the PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G are the same modules from memory.

PA3313U-1M1G and PA3313U-2M1G memory module are supported the same specifications of 1 GB - SO DIMM 200 pin - DDR - 333 MHz PC2700

I think you can use both modules without any problem.

  • OptiPlex 7040 Micro missing heatsink heat from the chipset - is this normal?

I bought an OptiPlex 7040 Micro system about two weeks ago. After the opening of the system, I noticed that the heatsink for the chipset (Q 170 Skylake) is missing. You can see in the image below.

Photos of the user, in fact downloaded manual from Dell, you can find the image with a heat sink as usually installed on motherboards.

Because the German Customer Service isn't really a help for me, they always send me different pictures of the other motherboards than mine, sometimes of the previous Micro 9020, my question is this:

Really missing heatsink (accidentally forgot to install at the factory) or is it planed out of the system for reasons?

Because I don't want to let change possibly latest main map by an elder of the customer service to the Germany, it would be good if someone relay knowing that the facts could answer.

There is no heater on this chipset on the 7040 M.

I checked the internal images of the motherboard, and they show no heatsink during this particular chip.

Also on your image of the motherboard in your system, you will notice that there are 2 positions on the motherboard where the clip holders would be located (circled in white) and real clips are not soldered to the motherboard showing that the radiator and the following clips are not needed

  • Impossible to pass to Windows 10 because of the chipsets Intel family

When I checked my Windows 10 icon, thinking I would book just my Windows 10, I found that it will not properly work on my computer because of the chipsets Mobile Intel (r) 965 family; I have problems with my screen.

This happened on the older of my two computers.  It's a Gateway laptop.  When I bought him he ran at the origin of Windows Vista, but I've upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium.

I know very little of this kind of question.  Is it possible to make changes and that it can be upgraded to Windows 10 or would be - it will be impossible or so problematic that it would be easier and cheaper just buy something again or it leave it as what?

The reservation application indicates that I have incompatible hardware (IE. CPU, video card, printer) or software, what do I do?

You can check the software developer and supplier of equipment for the latest updates before performing the upgrade.

UPDATE: Please see the following article by Barb Bowman (Microsoft MVP) solutions to this problem.

Is that what my display graphic or peripheral Bluetooth compatible with Windows 10? Pre-trial showed that it was not.
