TestStand documentation

Hello

is there a chance to print documentation in TestStand, like VI - documentation in LabVIEW (file-online Print => select VI-VI Documentation Online)?

Thank you
Patrick

Hello

There is a tool for documentation under the Tools menu (Tools |) Sequence file Documentation...) This will bring up a dialog box so you can choose what you point is put into the document.

Hope this helps

If you use TestStand 2012, please upgrade to SP1 of 2012 TestStand, which corrects the problem of search in the help system. You can also access the help of TestStand 2012 on ni.com.

  • Download the SequenceFile associated with UIMsg_StartFileExecution

I'm catching the UIMessage UIMsg_StartFileExecution and want to update my UI to indicate which SequenceFile is executed.  I can't understand how to determine which SequenceFile is associated with this message.  The two UIMessage.Thread and. Run are null and StringData is empty.

The documentation for this message indicates "TestStand sends this message when it starts to use a sequence file. TestStand specifies the file in the UIMessage. "I do not see where TestStand specifies the file.  Is this a bug in TestStand, documentation or on my end?

I'm capturing of messages by recording the reminder with RegisterUIMessageCallback() through c#.  I also tried to get the message through GetUIMessage() and both produce the same result.

Any ideas are appreciated.  Thank you.

I think it's in the ActiveXData property (do "under SequenceFile" on the object returns). Also, you should consider using the ApplicationMgr control and handle the UIMessageEvent event as a .NET event. This is the recommended approach.

    Hope this helps,

  • on the fly of statement

    Hello

I have a question about using the option 'on the fly' and ' "retain the memory and displays most recent result" "option. As I undertood the support of NEITHER and Teststand documentation, the option 'on the fly' allow you to present your results during the execution of your test. It also allows the RAM used remain constant because after each step, the ResultList should be released.

So. It is the theory. In practice, I increased my RAM used regardless of the settings I use. Because I use tests which are conducted for several days, the collection of results makes the RAM increases so much that Teststand cling or works really very slowly, if it is not crashing...

I did a few tests (see attachment). By setting different options, I run my test why SequencialModel for 1 minute and measure the RAM before and after execution. (the first time just before I have that on the "OK" button of the dialog information of the object to be measured, the second time just after I put an end to the hand in the execution of the test). Between each test, I restart Teststand. I measure the RAM using Windows Task Manager.

My PC is a Win XP SP2 and I use Teststand 4.1.1 (but the problem still exists Teststand 3.5...)

    Test 1:

'on the fly of statement' option NOT selected

the "keep memory and only the last results display" option is NOT selected

Report type is ASCII and all results must be reported

    Task Manager:

Used RAM at the beginning: 651 MB

Used RAM after a minut: 716 MB (+ 65 MB!)

    #Results: 31420

    ==> + 2, 12 MB/result

    Test 2:

'on the fly of statement' option selected

the "keep memory and only the last results display" option is NOT selected

Report type is ASCII and all results must be reported

Used RAM at the beginning: 646 MB

Used RAM after a minut: 681 MB (+ 35 MB!)

    #Results: 4969

    ==> + 7, 21Mo/result

    Test 3:

'on the fly of statement' option selected

the "keep the memory and display only the most recent results" option selected

Report type is ASCII and all results must be reported

Used RAM at the beginning: 662 MB

Used RAM after a minut: 681 MB (+ 19 MB!)

    #Results: 4969

    ==> + 3, 24MO/result

    Conclusion:

Selected by the "on the fly report" with or without the option "Maintain the memory and display only the most recent results", the RAM used by each result is greater than if you do not select the option "on the fly report." Also probably Teststand generates the report at run time, but independent more important on the parameters of the RAM option is ALWAYS increasing.

So is this a bug or is this a feature?

Does anyone have experience with the "on the fly report?

    Bye,.

    Risotto

    Hi Norbert,.

Thanks, thanks and thanks again! It was the solution!

If you set "on the fly report" + "keep memory and only display last results" AND activate 'Throw results or disable results when not required by model' then the behavior of the RAM used is as you explained: it begins to increase, but after some time remain constant.

With her so I have a solution, very well!

Only comments in support OR in general this option seems to be implemented in Teststand for several years (Teststand 2.0 can be?) and I spent weeks already on the search for a solution to this problem of memory. OK, maybe I was really long to understand how do, but on the other side I spend so much time reading of the documentation, speaking with the support of NOR and the support OR so past time send me examples and documentation. I think for a question like how to manage reports and the memory of test which are lasting several days, support should be able to give me an answer and it must be clear in the documentation how to make the adjustment.

In any case, I'm happy you could have help me. Thank you once again!

  • Order of execution in one step

I'm relatively new to TestStand, and I am trying to debug a problem with a file of sequence.

I have a stage, which is a .NET adapter (not sure if it's perhaps relevant).

In these properties in a loop has been activated, and a post term has also been defined.

The term post will run at the end of each iteration of the loop or just once, after that the loop has repeated 5 times?

    Thanks in advance.

Look in the TestStand reference manual in Chapter 3 in respect of the execution of the step.  It should be pretty clear.

  • Definition of property browser

    All,

I'm looking at the property browser of the parameters of the step for a sequence (TestStand version 4.1). It lists a series of options (in general it is TS. SData.xxxx or TS. LoopIncrement, etc.). The flag does not matter, what interests me is to find where each is defined. The manuals did not provide a clear path for me or I'm looking in the wrong place.

    Where should I look?

  • TestStand 2010 and AudioMASTER 6.2 compatible?

Are compatible TestStand 2010 and AudioMASTER 6.2?  I know that the documentation States AudioMASTER use 4.2, 4.1, etc, but I think it came out before 2010 TS.

The AudioMASTER forum is very quiet, so I posted here...

I've experienced, and they seem to work together.  AudioMASTER requires TestStand 4.2.1 (not TestStand 2010) must be installed before the installation of AudioMASTER, so I installed both TestStand 2010 and TestStand 4.2.1.  Then I had to manually copy the components AudioMASTER TestStand (icons, typepalettes, steptypes\mx_types) in \\users\documents\public documents\national instruments\teststand 4.2.1\components to \\users\documents\public documents\national instruments\teststand 2010\components.  TestStand 2010 prompted me to update types and .ini files when I open and closed then TestStand 2010.

  • ProcessHandle in 64-Bit TestStand

    Hello

in the 32-Bit-TestStand sequences (4.1), I get 64-Bit-TestStand (2014) steps to "Call the executable" error

"- 17308: ownership of process step manage rental must be an expression that returns an object reference."  "Invalid expression: Step.ProcessHandle.

Now, the Step.ProcessHandle exists as a property of the step. The documentation says that an independent appeal of the number of bits should use the expression

    RunState.Engine.Is64Bit? Step.ProcessHandle64: Step.ProcessHandle

However, Step.ProcessHandle64 does not exist as a property. Is it okay to use Step.ProcessHandlePtr? Would this work in sequences used in 32 - bit and 64-bit or the conditional expression above is necessary (with ProcessHandlePtr instead of the ProcessHandle64 non-existing)?

    Concerning

    Peter

    Hello Peter,.

    Thank you for your message.

    Yes, your proposal is good:

Step.ProcessHandle is only supported on 32-bit Teststand. To use your secuences to a Teststand 32-Bit to a 64-Teststand, you must use Step.ProcessHandlePtr.

I hope I could help you.

  • The deployment of TestStand-19049 utility error

I'm running an error when you try to create a new deployment of TestStand (process model, UI, etc.).  Specifically, I want to install the user interface and to transform the model in an absolute path, and that's where I'm running into the issue.  When I install to program files, the work of deployment without problem, however, I have run into issues trying to find files in things like property charger and other.

    To reproduce the problem:

On the Installation Options tab, ' default Installation Base Directory: ' the absolute path value.  And the default installation directory is basically what whether (I tried my desired just C:\ directory and all the rest, but does not seem to make a difference)

During construction, the status tab to build indicates the number of error-19049 with the message 'Destination not taken in charge under the current number of bits' and the message ' Base Directory default Installation: using the destination following WOW64 Directory System.

I use TestStand 2014 32 bit with Labview 2015 32 bit on a 64-bit OS to Windows 7.  I can't change the number of bits of the TS or LV due to the dll I'm referencing that cannot be changed.

    Can anyone help?

    Seth_K salvation,

It is a known bug that has been fixed in SP1 of TestStand from 2014; See ID 529404 number in the list of correction of a Bug in SP1 2014:

    http://www.NI.com/product-documentation/52845/en/

The only known outside the upgrade to SP1 2014 TestStand solution is to use a relative destination instead of the absolute. If the upgrade to SP1 2014 TestStand isn't an option, let me know and we can look into other options.

  • What is the location of custom FrontEndCallbacks.seq TestStand 4.2?

    TestStand 4.2

    Windows XP

I need to change the file

    C:\Program NIUninstaller Instruments\TestStand 4.2\Components\Callbacks\FrontEnd\FrontEndCallbacks.seq

I would interfere not rather this file in the Directory.  TestStand manual seems to indicate that I can copy the file to

    \Components\Callbacks\FrontEnd\FrontEndCallbacks.SEQ

On my system, this would result in

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\TestStand 4.2\Components\Callbacks\FrontEnd\FrontEndCallbacks.seq

However, the TestStand engine is not reading my modified copy of FrontEndCallbacks, and the only way that I can't seem to influence the FrontEndCallbacks is to replace the file in the Directory.  Do I have my file changed in the right location?  Am I missing something here?

TestStand 4.1.1 I have a FrontEndCalbacks.seq personalized in the following directory:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\National Instruments\TestStand 4.1.1\Components\Callbacks\FrontEnd

Your directory you specify contains Application data that is used only for the Cfg directory and associated files:

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\National Instruments\TestStand 4.1.1\Cfg

I would check the documentation for the Directory, because I recall it was pointing me to the correct location for TS 4.1.1.

  • Executable test sequence TestStand deployment

    Hello

I would like to automate my test using TS environment and the BT.

My goal is to have one machine with the development of TS (Inc. LV) for construction of test software that is compiled in one .exe file to run on the tested machine that does not have TS or LV

Can I use the software for this task?

It is for the main development computer:

    779601 35

NEITHER Developer Suite, English, include 3 years SSP

    1

    779602 35

NEITHER Developer Suite Automated Test Option, include 3 years SSP

It is for the machines to run the tests on:

777774-3505 NI TestStand Base Deployment Engine License 5 unit Bundle

I would like to have an option to monitor the performance of the tests on each machine and if necessary to perform debugging on the tested machine operations.

If the package above will provide this capability so where can I find the documentation to create .exe files to run on test computers?

If not, what software will provide this capability?

    Thank you

    His Lev

    Lev,

These are the correct packages for TS development and deployment.  The only thing is that you have little debugging with the deployment license features.  If you want to debug, so instead of the deployment license they have licensed TestStand Debug.

    http://www.NI.com/TestStand/deploy-compare/

    More about licenses: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/B4B7C4ADB9B21B3F86256D360061891F

One thing you should realize is that TestStand creates no executables.  Because TS is essentially a scripting language, you deploy the raw files.  These raw files feeding the TestStand engine and execute the steps in order.

TestStand comes with 10 different (fully customizable) User Interfaces.  What are executables and run above the TestStand engine.  They allow you to run your sequence files (mostly scripts).  You will only need to use 1 of them.  The User Interface is so technically the executable for a deployment machine.

  • What TestStand prevent you to do if you don't have administrator rights on your computer?

    Hello

I need to know what TestStand will not allow me to do if I don't have admin rights on my computer?

    Dusty,.

There are very detailed information on the TestStand users in the TestStandReferenceManual for TestStand 4.0. I would like to begin in Chapter 7 "user management".  In addition, if you are not the administrator of the windows account, you will not be able to write to the registry, and you will be limited to specific locations on the machine. You will not be able to use the version switch, and depending on your user account settings, you can or perhaps not being able to write to program files. If you do not have this ability, you will not be able to write to the directory of TestStand CFG. The CFG directory is where your settings are saved, so if you change something in your options of station and then close, you get an error message and must reset the settings when you reopen the sequence editor. This problem has been fixed in TestStand 4.1 because they left the CFG program files directory and is documented in the TestStand 4.1 release notes.

  • TestStand UI

I hope someone can help with pointing me in the right direction.

Ive created a series of measures in teststand and created various screws to the sides of the procedure. My question is, in my opinion, a user interface will help significantly to user controls from what I've read so far, I know that I can create Labview under the VI user controls, but I'm assuming that the same task can be done from teststand but Im struggling to understand how do to this?

I am new and Teststand, Labview, and eager to know best practices that ive been reading, Im wondering if Im missing something here (somewhere).

The objective of this project is to have a façade used by a technician to test calling the different steps, each step can call different components such as guest user (VI) to enter information, readings of voltage (VI) entered by a user and some other components. So far, I have different screws based on one of them that will be done maintanance a pain. My thoughts are, if I create a façade (UI) calling the components or vi, this will contribute to the maintanance theyre being 80 steps in the sequence. Until now, I assume that the user interface can be created within Teststand...

Any help would be appreciated and happy to answer your questions.

Please answer quickly. I read a lot of fot he documentation related to the user interface and it has been found difficult to locate where were stored the two examples of the user interface. All the documentation I found ket indicating that it is a tool within Teststand, which allows you to create or edit a user interface.

Ive now located where examples are and better understand the relationship thanks for the tutorials, I'll take time to go through them much appreciate feedback

    Thank you

  • With the help of dynamically called screw in TestStand deployment

I write code to interface with a & Rohde Schwarz ZNB Network Analyzer.  I use LabVIEW 8.2 and TestStand 3.5.  For reference the ZNB driver is available here: R & S of ZNB Driver.  I use a slightly older version of the driver, some before they needed to LabVIEW 2009.  I am writing all the code on a development machine that has the full version of TestStand/LabVIEW and it works on another machine that has the TestStand deployment license.

This driver is dynamically linked to some things he needs.  I am able to operate with simple LabVIEW EXEs but not in TestStand deployments.  The following excerpt comes from their documentation, explaining a little about how the driver works and how to use in LabVIEW EXEs.

3.4.2 How to generate executables or libraries in LabVIEW driver kernel drivers instrument based on attributes is dynamically bound to any VI performed during execution. This can be recognized by the LabVIEW application builder. The LabVIEW application builder follows all the static dependencies and include them in the package distributed at the generation of an executable file.

To create an executable in LabVIEW, please manually add all the screws in the \PREFIX \_utility\callbacks folder to the LabVIEW project. In the case of project based please add private to your project folder. With this reference manual, the driver core is included in the compilation and the driver core is accessible during execution.

I can't get this to work in TestStand deployments at all.  I can't even connect to the device since the VI Init has these issues.  I get the same error for all the various attempts that I made.  The same error is that when you add manually the screws for the LabVIEW EXE.

    Error-1073807346

So far, I tried the following, all solutions producing this same error.  I struggled with this and turned off for awhile then maybe there are other solutions attempts I forget.

    (1) it looked like a lot of the report to go to the private folder were finished in SupportVIs.  I manually pasted the rest there, too.

    (2) I added all driver files on my workspace and included in the files with the rest of my deployed screws.

    (3) I added all driver files on my workspace and said pilot TestStand to deploy them to the original location in Program Files.

Someone at - it ideas?  R & S didn't even know what was TestStand, so that they could not help me.

I was finally able to solve this problem on mine, the other day.  I brought the Network Analyzer to my office and did a lot of tests in this way.  Eventually, I discovered that I needed to include the folder private pilot deployment, what I was doing in one of previous attempts.  It turns out that you must also maintain the original of this file directory structure when you include it, otherwise dynamic calls are not looking in the right place.  Once it worked on my PC, I got it on the machine test and worked as well.
