Text colors are black in PDF format

I worked on a calendar for the past weeks. I'm on Indesign CS4/Mac, printing PostScript using Acrobat 8 for proofing and high resolution press ready pdf. Which I did for years.

In Indesign, I have the text in many colours different text boxes as the SPM 300, a green PMS and then some process colors on stuff. Converts ALL text in black when I open PDF file after distilling is done the folder. All placed images, files eps, the pictures are in CMYK color in the folder. Just Indesign text. I have never encountered this before and am puzzled. I went through all my settings to distill and can't find anything. I am went through my options of Indesign, but... not really sure here either. Nothing distinguishes, but I'm CORNFUSED!

I inherit these files Indesign of the Agency who has donated to the provision and design of last year. They were in CS2, I think, but they were not CS4 I know that because I remember their upgrading from an old format. So I used these files from the start and just replaced the old information and updated the look. What can I say that would be useful?

Thank you

Troy

If you have inherited the files you inherited the printing setting and I'm going to guess that all text in black is selected.

Why do you use a method of 1994 to create a PDF file? Just export from InDesign instead.

  • Some references are dead in pdf format

    (FM12 unstructured on Win7, but it's probably earlier FM12).

A thread exists for this in another forum?

I see inconsistent behavior of cross references. On the band FM, Ctrl + Alt + click still works.

In the file pdf, by clicking on some cross references works while others died.

When I delete all content of the FM source file, save, and then create new simple targets and references to them two, FM and pdf behavior is as expected. No dead links.

When I create a new file of FM one of the blank templates, then create new simple targets and references to both of them, behavior in FM and pdf is as expected, as in the previous example. No dead links.

So maybe my real FM file is corrupt?

Perhaps, but wash MIF, the file doesn't seem to help.

Optimize your book for the PDF file.

    1. Open your book file.
    2. Choose Format > Document > optimize PDF size > Options
    3. Define dialog as follows:
Optimize the size of: [all related Documents]
      Files previously optimized: [force optimization]
      When opening command prompt: [disable]
      Prompt registration: [disable]
      Optimized files: [overwrite existing files]
Errors: Cancel On Error: [to test]
    4. Click on Set
    5. Choose Format > Document > optimize PDF size > optimize the file

There might be some dialogues more click on OK or some other defect. FrameMaker must then state it has optimized the files n , where nis (or higher) of the number of documents in your book. If I have the details wrong, RTFM.

Save as PDF and everything should be OK.

If that doesn't work, then save as PDF again once. In the PDF Setup dialog box, choose the links tab check the box «Create named Destinations...» ». This will create a PDF file that is much higher, so the first option is the best if it works.

  • Multiline text field, not packing in PDF format

    Hello

I work in InDesign CS6 and I have a text field where users can take notes at the bottom of each page on the master page. I have the right properties defined in the dialog buttons (see below). However, when a user enters text, the text is not wrapping (see image 2), it shows just as a long line of text. If I go to the PDF file and select the text box and choose multiline, it works, but I don't want to have to do this on each page of each document. Is there something I'm missing when creating the PDF file or set up initially in InDesign?

The pages Panel, select all the pages containing a button text field then of flyout arrow select replace all elements of the master page. Hope this can help.

  • Shares of the layers disappear when the pages are replaced in PDF format?

If I replace pages in a PDF with updates, my actions to layers seem to not keep the stock they've installed their. I check the properties and they seem to be there, but the action does not work.

I replace the exact amount of pages and the exact amount of layers.

Any ideas? Did I miss something if I replace the pages?

I think that you need to restore stocks. The layers are not as annotations that are left in place when the underlying page is replaced. Layers (OCGS) are content page, then when they are replaced by something new, the connection is broken.

Consider what would happen if you replace a page which had OCGS with one who is not. The OCGS being more present, all actions that naturally control would not work. Thus, even when you replace one page by another which contains the same OCSs, they are still not considered the same as a lower level and actions may no longer work.

  • How to bind an index of full text with the catalog in PDF format?

Hello and thanks for your help.

I already create PDF files on a folder (with hyperlinks between us) and I use the command 'Tools\Document processing\Full text with the catalog Index' to create an index. now, everything works fine.

Now, I want to tie this index to my first PDF file to automatically use this index on an advanced search in this file.

I hope someone can answer me!

    Thank you.

    In the document properties:

  • Text on a path not to export in PDF format

This announcement, I'm just in case there is an easy solution, but I suspect that the architecture of a particular CS4 file is damaged in a weird way that only affects exporters text on a path in PDF format.

Most of the examples of text on a path in this document will not export to PDF, and I have a suspicion that the problem may occur only after a certain number of page - but that is not confirmed. Tried anything that I don't gets me the text in an exported PDF, and that includes almost all the possible combinations of the export settings by changing the layers, masking layers, restoration OSX and reloading CS4.

One thing can work: as a test, when I moved a page to a new document, text on a traced is exportable. I didn't have no more in that direction immediately, in the case where there is a difficulty that is easier than moving 813 pages at once, which crashes CS4 when I tried it.

    Any suggestions?

Under the banner of 'better late than never', this bug is now fixed in the 6.0.4 update.

  • Why no response regarding the lack of background and text colors?

Although I see that two posts asking why this happens, the only answer has been asked which PC they had. I'm having the same problem (background colors and text are ignored) with this pavilion ze4900 (IE9.1). Pages display properly on my desktop PC but not on this laptop. Driver chart updated today but no change. I'm not formatting HTML simple like bgcolor = text color and black lime green = talking (even if the format #00000). I do HTML (no java, no flash, but a simple formatting) for my web sites and ebay auctions and have never had this problem other than on this laptop.

After the search for other sources mentioning accessibility features, I thought about it. The IE Options for accessibility and the colors were not the solution, but by going to control panel, I found other accessibility options and had the function of "High contrast" which forced most of the elements without color and also made most of the invisible extra boxes (no border).

  • OT: Pictures scanned in PDF format

    Well, it's a bit off-topic, but I'll ask anyway:

I'm working on a magazine, and someone sent me a bunch of pictures to use. That they are scanned in PDF format. I used Acrobat to perform an audit before the flight to make sure they aren't too low resolution.  They are transmitted to this review, but I don't know exactly what resolution they really are. I need to open them in Photoshop to make some retouching, cropping, etc. How I don't know what that set the resolution when I open them?

    I guess it's a Photoshop or Acrobat issue, I don't know who...

    Thank you, Phyllis

If you need to work again, I would use the Acrobat image edit command that will run Photoshop and give you the image to work on. From there on, save as PSD or TIF and place that in your identity document.

  • underlined text retains do not fill color to the PDF format saved in 6 IND.

After typing a Word, create outlines, then add a dash of contour (say 1 pt), the original color barrier does not appear in the PDF that I previsualisez in Acrobat Pro. The word appears as outline only.

I have to go back and put the same word (before describing) on the version described it "appears so" as filled in the following PDF.

I have attached a screenshot. This image shows the word red, KINGDOM, has been exposed, but I put the (unexposed) red text above (InD) to make it appear as being filled in the PDF file. Words in blue, ETERNAL and POWER, are also described and briefed on InD, but I do not you cover them (as KINGDOM), to show the appearance in the PDF file.

I've also attached a screenshot of the original with the same text as InD doc indicated (accident 1pt stroke) which seems OK here before registration in PDF format.

The word MINISTRIES is not described. It is the original text.

It does not appear in 5.5, I recall. Any ideas? What is a parameter InD I missed or pref in Acrob Pro?  Thank you

    no fills InDes.pngfills InDes.png

Now that I see this particular problem with the text of Bauer, I know how to deal with them in the future. I just wanted to be clear that this was no InD or PDF. Trajan is a close substitute. As Bauer is already established in the context of this logo, it must stay.

Perhaps in the future the leaflets (with logo), I could save in jpg format only, which eliminates the problem of contour.

    Thanks... icfives

  • Black partially becoming white text in pdf format

    Nice day

I encountered a strange bug in saving my document in pdf format (requested by the print service). All records very well, with the exception of half of a letter. Half of this letter looks white outside.

I looked at the settings, so does so that there are no layers or anything of the sort on the text. I tried to save as different versions of pdf and compression. This a letter just stubbornly wants to be half white. I am at a loss.

    Anyone have any ideas?

PS: the .psd file is fine, it only happens in the pdf file to save to.

    Capture22.PNG

    I have CS6 V13.

Switching fonts seems to work, but return to Myriad Pro press the issue. I seem to have resolved by deleting the word offensive and rewritten. Seems ok now.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Registration in PDF format makes black text appear when inserted images

Hello! Please if someone could help with my bug. I use InDesign CS 5.5 now, but the same thing also happens when I try to save a Word document as a PDF (MS Word 2010).

This only happens when I insert images into a page. Record in PDF format, black text appear when inserted images. Please see the pictures attached the text normal and abnormal in the case of an inserted picture. I also installed Acrobat X Pro. I have no printer connected to my PC.

Please if someone could tell me how to fix this bug?

Thank you very much in advance!

PNG should work fine (even if it is not designed as a print size). If is not the image in question format (thought jpeg does not support transparency in the image itself), jut the fact that there is a form any transparency on the page.

  • Right side of the text in the report are cut during report generated in PDF format

Right side of the text in the report are cut during report generated in PDF format.
In the report layout text is FLUSH JUSTIFIED. Text block is the same size as the outer frame.
When the report is generated in PDF format, text is only JUSTIFIED to the LEFT and to the right looks like cut. Text beyond frame is invisible.
But when I text selection in the PDF report that all the text is selected and I can copy and paste this text into any editor.
What is a cause of this error and how can I solve this problem? In my view, there is error in report engine.
