Text-only Navigation Bar

I want to create a 'text only' (without buttons or background images) navigation bar in Dreamweaver that updates all pages of the site, when new links are added.  In other words, I don't want to put new links on every page every time I have a new page. I just want to update the entire site to a single link bar

Can someone please tell me how or where I can find a tutorial that explains it.

Also, if possible, I would like a link to the links a different color in the navigation bar as the other links on the page. For example, I want the header to be black with a yellow link bar and I want the page to be white with a blue link bar.  Is this possible?

Thank you.

The best way is to create a menu file and use SSI to include the file in your document. If your site provides a code server side like PHP, Coldfusion, etc., it is best to use this scripting language. If your site does not support server-side code so take a look here http://www.smartwebby.com/web_site_design/server_side_includes.asp

I hope this helps.

Ben.

  • navigation bar contains buttons of social site that are supposed to show the icons, but display only text

    I have been using firefox as my main development for a new Web page. I use WordPress 3.4.2 and custom theme called thesis 1.8.5.

    The main navigation bar contains 8 buttons; 1 on my blog which is the home page and the other 7 to static pages. These buttons all justify left. The right end of the bar contains buttons for Twitter, Google, Facebook, and Feedburner. Are (or were) related to images; These buttons are justified to the right.

    Here's the code that does this work:

    http://DIYthemes.com/thesis/RTFM/replace-WP-menu-text-links-image-sprites/

    They worked fine until yesterday when I made some design changes to the space between the left button. Now, rather than display icons, the underlying text shows on the buttons right justified.

    Now, here's what's interesting. I also have Safari and Chrome on my system. The icons show both of theirs.

    I can't find any explanation or patches for this problem.

    I'll give you the URL of the site, but it is in Maintenance mode so will not show the problem.

    Thanks for your help.

    These screenshots of the nav firefox, chrome and safari bars could help.

  • How to disable the placeholder text in the URL from the navigation bar and search fields?

    Everytime I open a new tab (often, the homepage is set to blank) I watch 'Go to site' in the navigation bar. The search field shows the name of the active search engine until the text is registration. All I want is to be able to do is disable the placeholder text, showing the two fields as white.

    Add code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.

    Customization files (interface) userChrome.css and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    *|*.textbox-input:-moz-placeholder { color:transparent !important; }
    *|*.textbox-input:-moz-placeholder:hover { color:graytext !important; }

    Use in Firefox 19 +:

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */

    *|*.textbox-input::-moz-placeholder { color:transparent !important; }

  • Universal theme 42 - too long text in the Navigation bar

    Hello

    I use APEX 5.0 (1000 likes ;-) with Oracle 11.2.

    I created an application with theme universal theme 42.

    Navigation should look like this (for example, without sense):

    1. presentation of the members

    1.1 first presentation of car deveopment

    1.1.1another point to navigate

    2. the means of production

    3. last menu point

    3.1. .....

    3.1.1...

    3.1.2...

    ...

    The text is truncated or not completely display. For example only "1.1. "first conception of ' appears in the navigation menu. The rest is not visible.

    Is it possible to stop the wrapping text in the navigation menu. Looking for the corresponding model, I need to change, I found the 'Link List' model with the CSS classes "t-LinkList - nowrap ' to 'Disable the text wrapping' but I don't no weather is the right way to solve the problem or where I have to activate the Option nowrap.

    Another, perhaps better elsewhere would attend the larger navigation bar. But I can't find the right place in the style sheet to change this.

    Any suggestions?

    Ben

    Oh, I found the solution. I created a custom in the theme roller css, save under and so on.

  • display the text in the navigation bar when the user connects

    Hi all

    I'm (still ) on Apex 4.2.6.

    Currently, I have in my page templates, the following code snippet:

          <div class="logoBar">

              <img src="#IMAGE_PREFIX#themes/theme_125/images/logo_.png" />

              <h1><a href="#HOME_LINK#" id="uLogo">#LOGO#</a></h1>

            <div class="userBlock">

              <span>Username: &APP_USER.</span>

              #NAVIGATION_BAR#

            </div>

          </div>

    I have an obligation to display the user name (APP_USER) and of the company the user works for point Application AI_COMPANY, only when the user is connected. When the user is not connected; instead of these elements, I must show a connection link. Well, I know how to display a link to the login page, only when the user is not authenticated, using the navigation bar. Currently, when a user is not authenticated; the page shows: username: person. It's because he's in my page template. How can I show only the user name when the user connects? And then only display the name of the company?

    My first thought was to add an item in the navigation bar. But these elements comes in the form of links. Is it possible to add a navigation bar element and let it display as text? Of course, I could write a dynamic action on page 0 to remove the link, but I'm looking for a nicer sollution or better.

    I have apreciate your help!

    I take it, you use the same model of your home page and login page.

    You could use 2 different models or get out your elements in your model and put them in page 0.

    You can then make them conditional based on the number of page

  • Text of the mark in the navigation bar is not displayed correctly

    Hello, I created my navigation bar, and I encountered a strange problem.  The text of mark in the navigation bar, which retains the link to my home page does not always display correctly.  When I visit my test page in Google Chrome (signed in my personal account) the brand text only display the basic text style.  It displays like this

    brand image 1.png

    But when I load the test in Google Chrome page, well signed to my business account - it displays like this

    brand text 2.png

    The second image is the way it should appear, this is the way I style navigation bar in my CSS (see below), but I'm puzzled as to why it loads differently in the same browser but connected to different accounts.

    CSS I used to create the navigation bar in the image above

    @charset "UTF-8";
    .container-fluid {
      background-color: #CA0E0E;
      width: auto;
    }
    .navbar.navbar-default   {
      background-color: #A7AB22;
      top: 9px;
      border-style: none;
    }
    #navbrand {
      background-color: #CA0E0E;
      color: #FFFFFF;
      font-family: eater;
      font-style: normal;
      font-weight: 400;
      font-variant: normal;
      word-spacing: normal;
      font-size: 19px;
    }
    .nav.navbar-nav.navbar-right li a {
      color: #FFFFFF;
    }
    .navbar.navbar-default a:hover {
      background-color: #A7AB22;;
    }
    .dropdown-menu    {
      background-color: #CA0E0E;
      padding-top: 0px;
      padding-right: 0px;
      padding-bottom: 0px;
      padding-left: 0px;
      border: 0 none;
      top: 60px;
      border-radius: 0px;
    }
    .dropdown   {
      background-color: #A7AB22;
    }

    Does anyone have any ideas as to what could happen?

    You don't have not learned us your complete code, so a bit of guess work.

    1 have you included the "Eater" fonts to your website as in

    2. in the style rules that you have shown us, the police is spelled with a small "e" is - this should be a capital 'E' as in

    do-family: "Eater."

    To stop this guessing game, it is best if you specify the URL of your web site.

  • How to put labels of text on the buttons in the navigation bar

    Hello.  I have a bar using Dreamweaver CS4 to browsing.

    After you create 2 simple rectangles 100 x 40 pixels with different gradients in photoshop and save them as button.png and button2.png, I've created an html file, then went to the Menu bar and insert > Image objects > Navigation bar.

    I went through the whole process, has successfully all the links for the different States of my nav and added buttons added to my library as a sidebar.

    I then added this a test .html and books of navigation very well.

    The only part I have a problem getting labels on the buttons.

    I know that I can mark each individual button early on in Photoshop, but it would mean having a bunch of slightly different buttons / png which will add to the duration of download / file size.  Is it possible to add text labels after the fact (that way I only need a few images of the different buttons that are used over and over again throughout the site, with only the labels changing)?

    I tried to place an AP Div tag with a high index z on the navigation bar and text placed above each button, but it stopped working navigation (the hand icon doesn't display above if I hover over a button because the AP Div with text is in front of it).

    Suggestions as to how (or if) I can put on the labels?  I guess a solution would be a small label in a transparent part of the button, but I hope that there is a simple way to do it where the text can be placed in front of the button without interfering.

    Here is a link to the test showing page buttons and text interfere with features of navigation bar.

    http://henrythewren.com/indextest.html

    Thank you

    You must use the image as a background image on a link, then another to show in the overview.

    Here's a good tutorial of how it's done... no need to use the cells in a table, just use a list:

    http://CSS.maxdesign.com.au/Listamatic/vertical11.htm

    and here's the master list of how to style of the bars of different menus using css:

  • I do not see the history of my site in my navigation bar (only Web site icon and not the website link). How to cancel it?

    Before I upgraded to the latest version of firefox, I could see the history of my Web site in the navigation bar. By that I mean I could see the real links and I could move everyone to see that I wanted to visit. Now, these links do not exist (or if they are, they are not visible to me) and I cannot see the icon of the Web site and cannot see what link is by actually selecting. How to cancel it?

    Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.
  • Hi, my navigation bar does not work and only the white pages are displayed

    Hi, my navigation bar does not work and that white pages are displayed - I watched the debate and made sure that each page is checked on "Export Page"; I checked that all pages are included with hyperlink. I deleted everything and started a new navigation bar; I have created a new site and started from scratch... nothing seems to work!

    It does not appear in the preview IE. I created 4 pages and when you perform a navigation bar, the title of the pages appears but when I saw and click one of the links, I get a full blank page with no navigation bar. What I am doing wrong? He worked for a time perfectly, but no more.

    Also, is it possible to manually check the links to see where I am redirected to?

    Thanks for sharing the file with me. Everything looks fine when I checked your file on my machine.

    Clear the browser cookies could solve the problem as default browser preview Muse use to render the pages.

    Kind regards

    Vivek

  • JavaScript text in the navigation bar

    Hello, I would like to know how to do this javascript line running in the navigation bar of sensitivity (or header)

    Here is the example:

    http://Apex.Oracle.com/pls/OTN/f?p=31517:1:1161053821502832

    I created an entry in the navigation bar (targettype = URL)
    JavaScript:Alert('Hello_World!!');
    You can see who is working here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=41715:49]

  • How to search engine choices do not apply to the navigation bar

    To reproduce:
    -set google as default search engine
    -Select an item in the search panel (not google)
    -Type a query in the navigation bar (only text)
    -press on enter
    Early in this case google search was conducted
    Now you can search via the search engine selected in the search panel.

    Is it possible to change this behavior, as it was?

    It is an intentional change in Firefox 23 and upward. It also applies to the search box on: home.

    You can use the keyword search to get back to the old behavior. It is available here:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/keyword-search/

    See also this issue of support for general information on the change of function:

  • Additional "greeked" added to my site navigation bar

    I just tried to make a few updates on my site, and when I published in Business Catalyst special edition, generics, navigation bar has been added to the top of my site with links that go to the placeholder greeked text! And the site itself appears as an area within this site. Help! How can I remove this additional navigation bar and have just my site appear as the only content?

    I took a quick look, and I can see it is actually an Adobe partner in importance! This generic navigation bar is a remnant of a model. There is a "header" in the HTML tag, showing a comment from 'BC_OBNW', which is generally a signature Business Catalyst . And should simply not be able to creep into your web page to download or use. Don't worry, it's not bad, at least not that I can see. It's just a strange glitch.

    For reasons of test, try to export the Muse site as HTML (a folder on your desktop) and see if the visualized page locally always has this menu bar?
