the utility creates the folders and files for flow etc... but gives an error when you try to make the database...

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem? I'm using the latest dirt utility.

DIRT runs as two different accounts. folders are created with whatever account is connected to the machine. the SQL database dump is executed with the Local SQL service account. This account does not have the right to use the UNC path.

To work around this use the two step backup SQL and specify a temporary location on the local drive. Once the DIRT has been made it will remove the temporary SQL file it creates.

on the tools page unit is a video explaining this.

    Original title: difference between auomatic backups & do your own backups?

    Hi you all,.

    I'm a bit confused about backups, I just got my new mohterboard HPp6320y/win7/improved / 2.7Gz cpu, 64-bit, 8 G - ram. HP offers to immediately burn a recovery-re-boot disk, which I did. Then they strongly suggest to copy a restore disc fictitious system using an external hardrive or external storage such as cd - rw disks, I don't understand if I can burn a shadow of system using my existing internal drive or some other form of storage like USB drives provided that they have sufficient capacity.
    So far, so good, but when I first tried to burn a shadow/system using my existing built in internal disk drive, the only choice in the context menu after clicking "burn the backup of the system" was my internal hardrvie. He did not get a disk, so I dropped back until I could understand if I was doing something wrong and fix it
    I know that my automatic HP backup restore points are made on a regular basis with or without me having to ask, once partition it the space reserved for different backups with full capacity, my system removes the oldest to give room for the new, correct?
    I also know that the purpose of having a shadow system is if your hard drive goes wrong, you can restore your entire OS & the personal data to a new disk, so store in a partition of your works currently hardrive would make no sense if it goes wrong, correct?
    Then why, my system will not burn a shadow on a freshly unpacked well-known R/W disk? (I have 10 of them I bought still packed)
    Do I need to use a drive external remote disc?
    Also, I have a factory built-in removable Pocket media player provided out of my older HPa610n and it holds 160Gs, I have the appropriate connection and it appears therefore as a storage device when I turn on my new current HP. However, when I click Backup a shadow system, it shows that my cd player internal existing as an option where I'm supposed to store my shadow of system. Yet they claim that I can use a USB device, provided that it can contain enough storage, I am really confused and feel a migraine coming!

  • Persistent disconnect is causing iPhone to failed backups

    It drives me crazy. I can't save my iPhone 6 (running iOS 9.2.1) to iTunes (v 12.3.2.35 on Mac OS X 10.11.2).) Sooner or later - often, very near the end, according to the blue thermometer at the top of the iTunes page - I get "iTunes could not backup iPhone because iPhone disconnected".

    I have google ad nauseam and tried a bunch of things:

    (1) removal of existing backup from iTunes.

    (2) by removing the lockdown folder.

    (3) a new saving account on my iMac.

    (4) try a new USB cable to a port on my iMac.

    (5) restart the iMac and iPhone.

    (6) restart the iMac in safe mode.

    (7) restores the increasingly aggressive iPhone. More recently, in desperation, I deleted completely restored in factory configuration and apps am adding slowly back one by one. (It is a royal pain that has consumed many hours of my life).

    Other info: my phone has never been jailbroken. iTunes WiFi synchronization is disabled. There is no hub USB between my Mac and my iPhone. The news of the Console are particularly inappropriate, consisting of:

    A few suggestions more from here: alerts related to solve USB in iTunes - Apple Support

    Try the following steps to check the connection between your computer or device. You need only one of these steps to resolve the issue, to test your connection after each step.

    1. Remove any third party battery or case of the unit and check that the USB cable is connected directly to the port of the unit.
    2. Close the applications of virtualization (such as Parallels or VMWare).

    These applications may interfere with the ability of your computer to communicate via USB if they are not properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the problem, contact the developer of the application to see if an update is available.
  • Disconnect other USB devices from your computer except for your keyboard and your mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the problem is resolved, reconnect the other devices USB one at a time. Make sure that your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
  • Try another computer
  • If this does not resolve the issue, I would contact Apple Support.

  • Formatting the HD and Time Machine backups

    My drive external hard Time Machine seems to be failing am so anxious to save my TM backups. I've already lost a few videos which was on a 40 GB partition, but backups on the 'main' score seem ok. In another thread, I discovered that the problem I have copy backups TM externally to another drive on an iMac is a problem because my MBP is formatted Mac OS X extended suburbs and the iMac is formatted Mac OS X extended (journaled).

    So, if I have reformatted the HD (journaled) MBP could reinstall Mt? or TM comes with original formatting?

    I think I have my answer. Looking through the guide of TM of Pondini I see that there is NO possibility of progress as I'd hoped.

    Since it is my laptop computer (MBPro) and information/data cannot be compromised, then it's time for a backup to disk somewhere image. It's just about 200GBs, then I'll have more information TM and hopefully again in the disk image.

    Once I have done disk image I'll reformat the hard disk, reinstall El Capitan and drag/levitate things of the image and/or the TM to backup and I hope have my machine back as is (but with good formatting).

    It is difficult for me to believe that 5TBs of storage here and there and it is not enough.

    When I got the system starts, it of not connection & throws the error message "the remote procedure call failed." What ever I do it is not the same error.

    I tried logging in safe mode but is not connect in SafeMode survey the same error.

    Tried to restore to the last successful boot. Same mistake.

    Really frustrating.

    Looks like only option I have is to format the lappy however I have a lot of data in C:\ which are not saved.

    Any help will be much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Vigni

    I have a lot of data in C:\ which are not saved.

    Unfortunately, it seems that you belong to the large class of PC users who choose not to back up important data, until disaster strikes. Your data is not lost, but the recovery is much more painful than to use an external backup drive. Here are a few options:

    • If it is a desktop PC: connect the hard drive to some other desktop PC, then recover your data.
    • If it is a laptop: remove the hard drive, then put it in a box for disk 2.5 "USB. You can now connect this case for some other PC and recover your data.
    • Start the computer with a bootable Ubuntu CD and its graphic interface allows you to save your files on an external storage device.

    When you are finished, you get a HDD 2.5 "USB and use it for your regular backups (e.g. weekly). You can also store an image of your new installation, you save the trouble of the reconstruction of Windows where you have another accident.

  • The remote procedure call failed and did not run + user problem?

    Good so I have a Sony VAIO with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4 GB RAM and 640 GB hard drive. During his first installation, VAIO asks you to name your computer so I called him "CARINA" and everything worked perfectly.

    However, we wanted to change the main username in the 'OSCAR', so I went to the control panel > users and this has changed. I thought that everything was great, because when I open the Start Menu, top-right, he says "OSCAR". After more research in the area of research, two things appears under the name 'CARINA': a 'user profile', I think, who had a small square color sky-blueish. and a folder with a lock on it. I tried clicking on the user 'CARINA' first profile, and it just opened what, in my view, is a Properties window 'CARINA '.

    But when I clicked on the folder "CARINA" with a lock, it opened my libraries. But get this: at the top, he said not "CARINA", but "OSCAR". I thought it was odd he did that so I told the computer to delete the folder with the lock named 'CARINA '. As soon as I realized it was a huge file and a gazillion files were there (real libraries), I canceled it, he wants to immediately restore the Recycle bin. But nothing appears on the trash, or I can't enter either because an error saying "the remote procedure call failed and did not execute".

    But the mistake has been made and now it does not work. The Start Menu appears, but I can't click on anything or use the search box. When I click on my library of records, the same message appears ("the remote procedure call failed and did not execute") or when I enter 'Open action center', he said ': {266EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\5\::{BB64F8A7-BEE7-4E1A-AB8D-7D8273F7FDB...» The remote procedure call failed and did not execute. " Programs on my toolbar work, such as Chrome or Windows Media, or I can change the volume with the icon in the lower right, but I can not enter in 'Computer', my libraries, or anything else. When I open the the TASK Manager, under processes, they are all under the name CARINA. If I stand on the top of the "explorer.exe" process, and I do a right-click on top of CARINA > properties > Security > there are 4 listed users:

    • SYSTEM
    • Administrators (CARINA-VAIO\Administrators)
    • Users (CARINA-VAIO\Users)
    • TrustedInstaller

    The computer has a backup (if I have a backup of an another VAIO Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit if necessary) and I'm afraid to stop in case it does not start again. :(

  • Restore from a different location from the original location of RMAN backup

    All,

    Sorry to bother you on this simple question, but it's something I've never done before:

    Background
    =======

    My sys admin is currently copying a full backup of the default RMAN backup location to another location on the drive (say/u01/oracle/backup).
    The backup was performed using RMAN and in my view, THAT RMAN knows that his initial backup location. See RMAN permanent setting below:

    SET UP DEFAULT DISK DEVICE TYPE;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT for DEVICE TYPE DISK TO ' / banksys_arch0/backup/ora_cf%F';
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' TO '%F ';
    SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE DISK BACKUP FOR PARALLELISM BACKUPSET TABLET 1 TYPE;
    SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARALLELISM 1 BACKUP BACKUPSET TYPE;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OF DATA TO DISK FILE TYPE DEVICE TO 1;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP COPIES OF DATA FILE FOR THE 'SBT_TAPE' UNIT 1;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP ARCHIVELOG FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP ARCHIVELOG FOR DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' 1;
    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK RATE 10 M FORMAT ' / arch/oradata/BANKSYS/backup/%Y-%M-%D-ora_df_s%s_s%p';

    Question
    ======
    I need to restore and recover the database from this new backup location. This is as simple as the following:

    1 change the default RMAN location to the new location:

    DISK CONFIGURATION CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE FORMAT "u01/oracle/backup/ora_df%t_s%s_s%p". (note that I've changed it to the new location)

    2 restore and recover (I have a good knowledge/experience in the part).

    Thanks in advance.

    just by changing the default backup location, custom RMAN find backups on its own, you should always run an overlap

    However I would not change the default location temporarily

    RMAN> CATALOG START WITH '/my/backup/location'

    will be of RMAN recognize your backups

  • With the help of an external backup drive

    Hi, I have stored all my Lightroom images in an external drive and have also saved them in a second external hard drive. Only the Lightroom Catalog is currently stored in the internal drive, it will be saved in another external drive in the near future.

    I have a question; What happens if my external hard drive fails. How can I access Lightroom images from the external hard drive to backup. Could someone please indicate the steps I have to take. For more information, two external drives are synchronized using free software Allway Sync.

    Thanks to you all.

  • adding the 2nd Time Machine disk backup capability

    I have a Mac pro OS X 10.11.5 with two discs devoted to the backup. When I wanted the first filled to the top, then add the second to continue archiving backup files.

    I don't want to lose my older archived data in backups on disk 1.

    What happens when I add a second drive to add capacity to the Time Machine backups?  Once the first drive is hard full TM then will use the second drive until it is full?

    When you add the second drive, I get a warning that the TM will take turns using the disc 1 and disc 2. But 1 disk is full. TM will not delete old information on Drive 1 to make room? If Yes is not good because I want to keep the old data. I just want to keep incremental backups to Drive 2.

    Please specify the feature.

    Yes, TM will continue to save on disk 1 and delete older backups and take turns with disk 2. If you want to keep 1 as it is by car, then you must remove it from the list of backup. Start a new backup on disk 2, and continue. In both cases, the disc 2 will make a new full backup of your computer.

    Do yourself a favor and remove the application.  Mac do not need AV applications and at best, they will be not hard (but not good either) and at worst will corrupt your system / OSX's built in protection.  Your concerns are malicious software that requires the cooperation of the user to install, not the virus.
