the database upgrade 9.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.3 on EBS 11.5.10.2
HelloAre there docs related to the upgrade of database 9.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.3 on EBS 11.5.10.2
the main problem is running oracle applications after the upgrade, what steps should I follow after database upgrade
Concerning
Moinet
For upgrades of database in general, I strongly suggest you start with Oracle 10 g, companion of upgrade, which is available on Metalink note 466181.1:
https://MetaLink.Oracle.com/MetaLink/PLSQL/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=not&P_ID=466181.1
For the side EBS, I suggest you watch the wizard of Maintenance EBS, which is Metalink Note 215527.1
https://MetaLink.Oracle.com/MetaLink/PLSQL/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=not&P_ID=215527.1
It is a useful tool that will help you make sure you do only and exactly the steps you need to follow in an EBS upgrade scenario (including upgrades of RDBMS in an Oracle Applications environment).

If am install 11g on server2 and 10g migration directly then there will be future problems on future production.
Instead of 11.2.0.1, I would say that you use 11.2.0.4. For a 5G database, import/export is probably the best option

Hi DBA:
We are evaluating different methods of upgrading 11 GR 2 DB to 12 c (12.1.0.2) this year, it is very important for us to use the right method. It was reported that when DB version was 9i and has been updated to 11g, there were some order of tables 'line' was wrong when execute SELECT statements in application (Java application) - at the moment I didn't if it is ' select * from... "or any specific part with a"where"clause, and what type of data was wrong (maybe sequence CLOB data, etc.).
I think I know, ' exp/imp', "expdp/impdp" logical backup of DB methods. Therefore, Oracle automatically import data and fix it in each table. If no error in impdp connects after it's over, should not be any mistake, right?
If the use of the method of 'creates a new data + expdp/impdp basis for schemas user' 11g 12 c port data, questions:
1. this method will lead to erroneous sequence data when ordering? If so, how to re - generate the sequence number?
2. this method can bring CLOB, BLOB data and without any errors? If error, how to detect and repair?
I use the same method in the 10.2.0.5 to 11g port data, no problem.
I'll keep this thread posted after getting more information from application.
Thank you very much!
Dania
INSERT... SELECT, CREATE TABLE in the SELECT and Export-Import will all "re-organize" the table by assigning new blocks.
In place--update (using DBUA or command line) don't re-create the user tables (although it DOES not rebuild the data dictionary tables). Therefore, does not change the physical location of lines for user tables. However, there is no guarantee that a further reason for INSERT, DELETE, UPDATE instructions does not change the physical location of ranks. Nor is it a guarantee that a SELECT statement will return always stored in the same order unless an ORDER BY is specified explicitly.
If you export the data while it is still used, you don't avoid update sequences in the source database. Usually results in a mismatching number sequence between the source database and the new database (imported). In fact, even the numbers may be different, unless you use CONSISTENT or FLASHBACK_SCN. (These two options in exp / expdp do NOT prevent update sequences). The right way to manage sequences is to rebuild or increase them in data imported with the values in the data source, once the import is complete.

Expdp/impdp can be used to upgrade the database (instead of DBUA) R12
Hi all
(1) could as possible to convert the database to UTF8 value as part of the database
upgrading process within the update Rel12? Any suggestion on how to do it? Any doc doc/procedure?
(2) according to Rel 12 guide upgrade applications, I can follow "interoperability Notes: Oracle Applications 11i.
with Oracle Database 11 g 2"doc to update my database. But this doc suggested using DBUA.
Can I use expdp/impdp instead so I can convert the character at a time? All documentation
that I can follow to use expdp/impdp to do the upgrade?
(3) are there measures to specify/extra for Rel12 if I want to convert the characters of the base
the value UTF8?
Thanks in advance!(1) could as possible to convert the database to UTF8 value as part of the database

DB Upgrade during the R12 upgrade approach
We have a 11.5.10.2 instance with 10.2.0.5 database and we have the intention to upgrade the database to 11.2.0.3 during our upgrade R12.1.1, as in the notes 761570.1 , we have the Patch C and D of path at our disposal. We decided to use the path C upgrade IE the database to 11.2.0.3 during the upgrade R12 itself and not two windows of downtime. According to this Note 761570.1, in the path c If the database upgrade is part of the R12 upgrade, perform all operations in the Interoperabity Notes except the following:
Check the versions of the software
Run adgrants.sql
Implement and run the automatic configuration
Recreate the grants and synonyms
Restart the application server process
Apply the Oracle human resources (HRMS) patch 7721754
so that means that we do not have to apply all the patches mentioned under the versions of software to check like patch interoperability, ATG Patch 7456837 etc. on 11i?
Thank you
MuraliYou must run directly after the upgrade of database with the exception of the measures that require the application to be upward, then you can implement it after starting the application.
Thank you

updating of the database in a different version
Oracle 11.2.0.1 and 11.2.0.3.
Can rman update database 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3?
In other words, my source database is 11.2.0.1, my target database is 11.2.0.3
I want to update the target database source database. Is permitted because the version is different?
Appreciate any help.
S.Hello;
No, is the short answer. To duplicate or to restore the databases must be the same version.
There is a method of upgrading, but I doubt you want to do this every time.
DUPLICATE considers both 32-bit and 64-bit of the same operating system as belonging to the same platform.
See:
Note to master for Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) [ID 1116484.1]
RMAN restore backups as part of an upgrade of database [ID 790559.1]

DADS.conf not to talk to the database
I have problems with a new APEX 3.2 installation. Here are my details:
Server: Windows 2003
Oracle version: 9i set to upgrade to 10G
Apex: version 3.2
objective: database upgrade 9i and htmldb 1.6 up to Oracle db 10 G and Apex 3.2 output
Problem: When the PlsqlDefaultPage parameter in the DADS.conf file is available nothing appears in the browser.
Process: Installed db Oracle 9i on windows server 2003 software. He patched up to 9.2.04 and existing files on db cloned this server. Installed apex 3.2 and 10.2 HTTP server. A ran DBUA to upgrade DB to 10.2. DBUA failed the first time and had to roll back. Fixed two problems there who were the TEMP file has not been appointed as it was planned and the user DMSYS is not found. Ran the DBUA once more and the upgrade has been correctly executed. Run SQLPLUS and correctly connected to the database as SYS and launched the DB as well. Set up the DADS.conf file as:
Alias is 'D:\Oracle\Product\HTTP_server\Apache\Apache\images/ '.

Everything seems to be correct. The database runs on port 1521 and Apex must connect to 7777. The Http server connects to 7777 without problem. When you add the connection string, I get "Service temporarily unavailable".
If someone tests or ideas to help me understand this problem I'm ready to try.
Thanks in advance for any help.
KimHi Kim,
I had the same problem with APEX and an upgrade from 9i to 10 g 2. The solution was to re - run that 3.2 installation process after that the upgrade was complete with the same settings as you did the first time. I'm not sure of your upgrade steps, but the best thing to do would be to make the database upgrade (9i-> 10 g 2), then apply the upgrade of the APEX 3.2. It should solve your problem, even if it seems crazy enough.Thank you

Hi all
I just finished Installationavecuneracine R12.2.0 Quick Install StartCd 50. Now, I must go to R12.2.5 to the 12.1.0.2 database.
First of all, I'm working on the database now and you wonder if you have step by step guide lines or upgrade instructions. I read some of the Notes Oracle but it is quite confusing.
That's what I've done so far.
-Install the software RDBMS 12cR1
-R12cR1 examples installation CD
-Create the directory/nls/data/9idata
-Install all the patches of database and Application pre-required
-Remove the SYS. INDEX $ ENABLED
-Remove the MGDSYS schema
-Run the pre upgrade tool
-DBUA upgrade of database use. He managed.
I think that the next steps would be:
-Configure the network to copy and edit tnsnames.ora, listner.ora files, etc.
-copy appsutil.zip to the new $ORACLE_HOME and unzip
Notes, instructions or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Solved... service_name was incorrect.
Thank you all... :-)

Restrict access to the database for the upgrade of the application
Hi all
We're performing an upgrade of the application that requires us to perform a lot of scripts on our server Oracle EE 11.2.0.4.
This specific database has around a website based end and a front end based client, but it is also accessible on the network through TNS SQLPLUS/Toad, ODBC, JDBC etc.
For obvious reasons, the upgrade, I want to make sure that no one else that the DBA can access the database. Usually change us the listening port of 1521 to let say 1544. This prevents all access.
But now we run in a physical Data Guard with two Standby configuration so I don't really want to play with the listener ports. The upgrade must propagate changes from primary to Standby. I could interrupt them temporarily, but I would like to avoid that if possible.
Another way I thought would work was to stop the database and open it in restricted mode. But before that, I would need to grant the privilege of the Session to RESTRICT all users upgrade scripts using (around 5 users).
This approach using the restricted mode seems reasonable?
Other opinions would be much appreciated.
Thank you
This is exactly what restricted session is for. You can do online and then kill a session is currently connected. No need to stop:
orclz > alter system enable restricted session;
Modified system.
orclz > change system disable restricted session;
Modified system.
