The display on my laptop is not on.
The display on my laptop is not on. At the start, it of on a second and then darkens. The display is always there. I can connect a secondary screen to the laptop and it works fine. It makes a weird sound (like a boing sound) when the screen will Dim. When you close the laptop and then open again the screen lights up again for a second, then goes dark. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the video drivers and that didn't work.
This indicates generally the backlamp (s) of the screen failed. These lamps shine at the back of the screen and lights by behind, making it visible to you. When they fail it is often what they do - turn on for a second or two and then turns off, you can still see the screen but only with extreme difficulty.
They are not something that can easily be replaced, you will need to take your laptop to a Service Center for repair for assistance.

Perform a hard reset
I added an external monitor and restart the computer. All seeing power are on, fan and hard make sounds and still nothing on both screens.
Reinstall all hardware
Still nothing but black on both screens.
Is it possible that a virus could cause black screen and does not start. Seems the laptop crashes, because all the lights remain.
Please notify.
Hi there @SVJ69
Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! It's a good place to find the help you need, so many other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff.
I understand that you get a white screen when you turn on your system. I'm happy to help you with this. I would recommend that you start with searching through this page. Since the construction in and external display do not respond, I would start with the displays.

A60: Work of the Audio Conference on laptop but not on the car radio CD/home
Hello
I tried a number of blank disc CD - R and CD - RW, but none of them work with record Sonic to burn music from an audio disc on a blank CD. Music plays on laptop, but not in the CD drive or the car home. Anyone know what the problem is. Really is tired of the use of different brands. nothing works!Hello
You burned the CD and this CD works fine on your laptop, but it of not possible to play in the drive of the car and on your cd player. Is this good?
Well, in this case there no problems with your laptop.
I guess that the other players cannot read the CD because they don t supports the support or the audio file format.
Which audio format you used and you burn music from the original CD? -
My internal hard drive went bad in my laptop, easy to replace and relatively inexpensive. However, the laptop came not with the windows disk. So, how can I reinstall windows once I replaced the hard drive?
Basically, you have two choices. You can communicate with the person who made the computer and see if they can provide either a set of Windows Vista restore disks (I would assume) or an installation for Windows Vista (probably OEM) DVD. If the second choice, determine if you will need to download device drivers or software packages from their web site. OR, you can purchase the operating system of your choice, retail. The wisdom is that, if this is your choice, you see if you will need the device drivers and get those of the web site of the manufacturer.
Once you have the disks, install in the usual way.

Although the display stops "standby mode" will not shut the fan on my Pavillion
The fan and I assumed that the system does not turn off when enter the mode "sleep" after the series of 10 minutes of no activity, but if I go to sleep mode manually. I had to have a replacement fan after that one year, which I'm sure was because of this problem. Any ideas on how to fix

You did all your Windows updates?
Did you run HP Support Assistant using the HP updates and help solve problems.
I would try to reset your laptop power management.
Go to the command prompt and run as administrator
Type powercfg - restoredefaultschemes and press ENTER.
If this did not help and you need further assistance. Please provide your exact model of HP laptop and the operating system you are using.
How can I find my model number or product number?
The best of luck!

Backlight on the keyboard for Dell laptop does not work.
I have a Dell Inspiron 17R SE and the backlight on the keyboard stopped lighting upward. Keyboard shortcutis "FN + F6" but that doesn't work either. I need to know how turn them back on.
On many laptops Dell I've owned, the shortcuts to activate backlight switch is Fn + CursorRight.
You can try this key combination? In addition, the backlight of the keyboard can be disabled in the BIOS. This is the menu that you get when you press F2 for when your laptop is cold-start and displays the Dell Logo and a progress bar under. If it is disabled, there is no way you can use a shortcut to turn on, you will need to enable it in the BIOS OF THE first.

After completing the upgrade Windows 7 laptop does not start
A ran the Windows 7 upgrade on a new laptop Sony Vaio with Windows Vista. After installation is complete laptop ran fine for 2 days.
Necessary to restart after trying to connect a new printer. Stop the laptop normally, but after a reboot would only boot to Windows Boot Manager.
The problem is that the upgrade of Windows CD I have is not start even if the DVD has been the first priority in the boot sequence.
If you are somehow able to boot from the installation DVD:
1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart your computer
2 boot from the DVD.
3. choose your language and click Next.
4. click on command prompt and try the following commands (they may or may not work):Bootrec /fixMBR
Bootrec /fixBoot
Bootrec /rebuildBCD
Bootrec /scanOSQuestions about installing Windows 7? Read this:

in the directory, the file names are much too small. You want to change font Times New Roman 12, for everything. Expansion to 124% does not affect the file names. Don't want to pay for the update driver software as it will not fix this.
Hello
I'm not on my machine to win 8 to check right now, but if you right click the desktop, then select the screen resolution, you should see 'Make text and other items larger or smaller'
Click on it... and down the middle of the screen that opens, you should see a drop down for different types of text (icons and etc..). There is also a menu next to him where you can set the font size for the different types of windows, icons and etc...
I don't think that there is an option to select the Types of fonts such as Times Roman, for example, but there could be...
