  You can check these prefs on the topic: config page and if either appears "BOLD" (user set) (bold) then right click in the pref and click Reset.

If I choose not to see once again that caveat, this preference will apply only to the active document? Or I will never see again, period?

  Its specific applications. You can reactivate the warnings in your preferences by clicking on the button Reset all dialogues with a warning.

  It's a question of how the recipients e-mail programs deal with attachments. Many e-mail programs will open all the files they can handle, including files jpg and PDF, by default, and if the recipient has not changed that there is nothing you can do about it. The only solution is to the compress first, then it will be delivered as an attachment, allowing the recipient to decompress and open it.

  Go in Edition/Preferences and from there to Global and General settings. You will see a box unchecked to show welcome screen. Check it out.
