The external USB disk stuck on the desktop icon
I did inadvertently, drag the icon to an external drive USB "devices" in the finder on my desk and now can't get rid of it. It is not an option to remove it, just eject it. When I eject and plug the USB in it reappears on the desktop and Finder version.
Help! I'm sure it's pretty simple.
Try, Finder: Preferences: general tab: show these items on the desktop: uncheck external drives.

Disk error non system at boot when using the external USB disk
Hello
I use Windows 7 Pro. I have a Seagate external USB disk causing a "Non-system disk error" at startup.I had the same problem with a Clickfree drive. The problem occurs on my other PC with different versions of Windows. How can I get my computer to start and not give me this error message for my backup drive? At startup (when the drive disconnected), I get a screen of BACK indicating "Client Mac Addr."... GUID..., DHCP. "I think it's looking for a disk boot from.I just need to boot from the internal hard drive.Thank youASUSB external references aren't desingned to be connected on startup, you must also use the safely remove the procedure and disconnect the USB key before closing.
If you get such a screen "Client Mac Addr... etc" at the start (with usb unplugged), looks like you are using a very old motherboard. If the system starts only with connected usb, then your initial installation of victory is defective or damaged

How to unlock the desktop icons albums?
There is a ringing sound when I click on the desktop icons and nothing happens. How can I get the "unlocked" I don't know how it happened.
I have to ask - you've restarted?
Also - have you tried under a different name?
What about another mouse?
And finally - if you have a USB keyboard - unplug unit after getting connected and try it then (perhaps a stuck key).

The desktop icons and taskbar are at least three minutes to load when I start the computer.
Original title: problem with the desktop icons
All of a sudden when I start my computer, the icons on the desktop and icons at the bottom of the clock of the take at least three minutes to load, and before that time, they used to load in a few seconds. Also, I have no problem with the computer start. Any help to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.
According to the specifications of your system, hard drives on your system are disks IDE (not the SATA drives).
Sometimes the Interface IDE mode can change from DMA mode to PIO mode and when that happens, things sudden. run very slowly, but it is easy to check and adjust if you need to.
Here's how:
If you are using IDE drives, use Device Manager to check the channel Transfer Mode IDE is set to something like DMA if available (depends on your hardware) and the slow PIO mode.
Don't forget: PIO is the slowest, DMA is faster. It is easy to check and usually easy to fix and the mode would not have changed in itself, so if she changed to PIO, change it to DMA, and then understand why it changed and fix it.
To launch the Device Manager console, click Start, run and enter in the box:
%SystemRoot%\System32\devmgmt.msc
Click OK.
Expand the section controller IDE / ATA to see your IDE channels. Each right click and choose Properties for each channel that has a tab advanced settings, determine the Transfer Mode. There are usually 4 channels to check in a desktop computer, maybe less for laptops.
Faster selection will always be a kind of selection DMA (usually: DMA DMA5, UDMA, etc.). If it is PIO, change it to DMA.
If you are unsure of what you see after return of help and advice.
If you make settings, restart and check the settings again to make sure that any change stick.
What may have caused the change?

I have a Windows XP Home Edition with a breath main card computer. Replaced the Board, PS and other items. Then re-activated windows and everything was fine. Until the last moment, I rebooted after activating it. I have the problem that I have seen posted in a bit. When Windows has finished initializing all the desktop icons and task bar etc. disappear. Nothing works.
I can bring up the Task Manager and manually run programs, etc.
Believe me when I say I spent reviewing EACH reference to this problem... Yes 5 days and counting... Tried them all.
I also tried a repair of windows in place which ends without any problem (twice)... but still no icons or taskbar. I also ran several controls of virus, including one for the virus, which is usually the cause of this problem. (fsnimda3.exe), I tried all the ideas in another thread (page 9) and many other institutions. Before I did the reconstruction of the material I've cloned the original hard drive and have used the disc cloned juggling his original for the back. Even tried to reinstall the old disk and do a comparison of sector by sector, in the case where my cloning process missed something. In the 30 years I've been in the computer business I have never had a re - format a hard drive to solve a problem. BUT I think it will break my record.
I'm doing this as a favor for a friend. But at this point our friendship is really put to the test

Pavilion p7: the desktop icons disappeared
When I started my pc this morning I founf that all my desktop icons disappeared
Hmm, that's strange. I wonder if you might have accidentally switched to Tablet mode, where the desktop icons would not display. See switch between Mode desktop and Tablet (Windows 10).
If this does not work, try to install the Windows updates and reboot your computer. I would also like to run a virus scan. Good luck!

That means the small arrow on the desktop icons?
That means the small arrow on the desktop icons?
It designates the actual icon ' points to ' (or is a shortcut to) the actual file. You can create a shortcut to a file or a folder by right click, then click on "create shortcut". If you delete the shortcut, the original file is not removed.
