  I have a clients Tecra in the shop, and after having received a good description of what was going on at the tme of failure, I still can't understand it. When I call the technical support they had me check the connection of the fan to the motherboard and set power options to save energy. Problem still exists. They had me also pull the video card to be sure it wasn't this fan, but it was not. They tried to tell me that this is normal... No way should the CPU fan spin full speed all the time. I have no patients must remember and discuss with them righ now since I spent 3 hours on tech support Saturday for a new LAN card wireless, sent me. ERRRR.

  P.S. I downloaded Speedfan to check my cpu core temp and it all say core 4 times are are hormaux 35 c or lower. So I don't think that I have an overheating problem.

  Hi, just a clean installed 10.9.5 BONES and then I used the migration assistant to transfer my backup time machine from my old computer. He made the transfer, took nearly 4 hours. Then when he was done he rebooted the computer, and as soon as he started the fans in the computer run at full speed.   The original HD had a sensor taped to the road with adhesive tape double faces. You had to move the sensor to the new drive. Without the detector, the fan runs at full speed.

  When you turn off your computer, and then restart it later, is the date and exact time or he start badly and set only once you connect to the internet at syhchronize with the time clock?  It would be another clear sign that the CMOS battery is the problem.  However, if the time is accurate when you start the computer, and then suggesting that maybe not battery CMOS because that's what keeps the clock running when you turn off the computer and if it is now present, it seems to work.  But perhaps it is not totally bad, but only of the weakness and the clock works while the BIOS is not.  In any case, it is a simple and inexpensive solution and certainly worth the cost and effort it can very well fix the problem if the options that I have proposed is not the thing.
