The file timestamp

I just noticed that saving a file updated keeps the original date - save as with a new name in a correct time results.

Is this expected behavior? It could be changed?

System: CS5 on W7 64 bit

Once you set your folder options you can also make a global setting so that you don't have to do it every time that you use a different under folder.

To save on tools from the menu options then on record worldwide. Click the view tab, and then choose apply to records.

  • Incorrect writing to the file timestamps

    Hi all

I wanted to familiarize yourself with writing data and associated timestamps in a file to verify the rate at which samples are played back in my system. As a little test I wrote a simple VI that travels 5 times and creates 5 sine sampling points. Each point has its timestamp captured and converted to seconds and fractions of a second. After the for finishes in loop iteration it writes the data of sample (line by line) for every 5 samples with their associated timestamps.

I imposed a 1ms delay for each iteration and hoped to see the consistency between the timestamps of the consecutive samples but sometimes they are very or even identical to the previous timestamp which doesn't make any sense for me. I tried with wait times and it seems to be more precise between samples, but this result is intriguing.

    Example:

    31.209159 0

    31.209159 84

    31.209159 91

    31.224784 14

    31.224784 -76

I chose not to use custom file VI writing because I had the same problems and thought that it could have better results.

Hoping someone can clarify it or show me where I'm wrong. I have attached the VI below.

    Thank you.

If you are using a hardware device timed, as NO hardware DAQ, you then get accurate timestamps. Everything else is a limitation of the Windows operating system. You can always switch to LabVIEW RT if you need more specific expectations.

  • the file timestamp spends an hour after DST change

When getting the timestamp of file of a file that was created in another State of the progress of the "file properties" function generates a time which is shifted to 1 hour of actual change (windows Explorer displays the correct time).

Never has anyone known the same problem? I'll do a work-around using the DST function time-record field. But I don't know if the same problem occurs when comparing files created in different time zones...

My apologies, I misunderstood your original post.  This behavior is more like a bug.  I've reported (131938 CARS).  It is probably related to the fact that Windows, by default, sets the time system in local time, GMT not (which causes problems for those who dual boot of Linux ).  Thanks for the post.

  • How to incorporate the timestamp and file name automatically select and save the file dialog?

    Hello

    Hi Mike227,

I couldn't find a way to immediately make the bat. I guess you need to mess with ActiveX to do. I found an msdn page that could help with this.

Have you considered simply concatenating the name of the file and the time stamp with a path of the file and save the file when you create it, without inviting the user?

  • Cannot read the timestamp of the file LVM in table or export to Excel

    Good afternoon!

Im having issues return timestamps from a LVM file and an excel file.

Ulitmately, I have a series of files LVM with 6 channels of data and timestamps of correspodning.

When I read the back files in a table, the channel values are analyzed, but the timestamp is no where. The channel data then exported successfully to an excel sheet (less the time stamps).

How can I extract the timestamps with the channel data and bring them into an excel sheet?

NOTE: I do not know you can open the file LVM directly in excel, however, information is not "analysable.

I appreciate the toughts. I have attached my experimental code as well as the data set, I am trying to extract. I have also included a spreadsheet excel destination.

    Hi, ASAT,.

Is there a reason that you do not simply write it as File.vi to write your signal data in the excel worksheet? It is an easy way to put in your signal data to an excel spreadsheet (see file attachment). You can also view the code in this Express VI to see how this is achieved.

  • When you rename a file change the last timestamp consulted?

I was in a heated debate with one of my instructors today associated with a test on the access timestamp question when you rename a file. Through my research and testing to rename a file via the command prompt, it does not appear that the process of renaming a file will change the date of that last file access. Access and modify times will change to the directory that contains the file, but not the file itself.  So my understanding is that it is not, however, my instructor insists that it is, can someone shed some light on this topic please?

    Hello C.S.Allen,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community!

Check that all your computers are set to automatically adjust daylight saving time. You can do this:

    ·         Right-click on the clock (lower-left)

    ·         Click Adjust Date/time

    ·         Click time zone

    ·         Make sure the correct time zone is selected

    ·         Check the box to automatically adjust the clock for daylight to save changes

    ·         Click OK

Hope that helps, I look forward to hearing from you.

  • How can I remove the UTC Timestamp of files saved by FileHistory?

Given that I had so many problems with Windows 8.1 on my ASUS PC x202e, I backed up my files with the history of the Windows files on a hard drive external and restored the machine to factory settings, so I could start using Windows 8 again, with which I had no problem.

I record a lot of audio with a freeware recording studio called Audacity, which saves thousands of audio files for each audio project. Because the history of the files rename all files with the timestamp UTC, Audacity does not recognize these thousands of files, unless I have rename removing the timestamp. I have about 7 audio projects that I need to get - it would take several days of tedious to rename all the files.
For example, the original file name was:
    e0000d79.au
On my external hard drive, the file appears as:
    e0000d79 (2013_11_24 01_59_07 UTC) .at

Is it possible to somehow restore these files to their original filename without the stamp? I looked in the file history, but was unable to find an option like that.
    Thank you
    James
EDIT: I thought that it would take some kind of software that runs a script to do that for me. I found this Powershell script to remove the 8 digits after an underscore in any file name:
    Get-ChildItem *.txt |
    Where {$_.Name -match '_\d{8}\.txt' } |
    Rename-Item -NewName {$_.Name -replace '_\d{8}'}

I had to use Powershell to solve a problem with Windows 8.1 not too long ago, but I'm not familiar with how it works. Y at - it a similar script that I could run? For example, by removing everything that comes after that a beginning parenthesis would work, as there are has no parentheses in the names of the files clean I need clean.

As I had suspected, historical files offers a device to "restore" your files on your PC that will remove the timestamp, so that copy and paste your files from an external retains the time stamp intact. Are there absolutely no need a complex script or something like that.

When I restored my computer to factory settings awhile back I changed the name of my machine to something again and I had since started a new file history for the files in the restored machine - in other words, two backups, I seem to stop me to use both, as the main screen of the history of the files only presented me an option - historical files of the current computer.
However, this was not a problem when I discovered that you can visit history of file to restore files from a previous backup feature.
    1. go in Control Panel
    2. under "System and security" click "Save Backup Copies of your files with history files"
    3. click on "Select Drive" on the left
    4. Select the external hard drive. In my case, I had two backups on the same external.
    5. When you click on your drive, the "Select an existing backup" window appears.
I have selected the history of files from my old computer, find the files that I was sick of having stamps and restored in a new folder on my desktop. Audacity now recognizes my projects again! Not bad actually.
  • Is there a way to disable the timestamp in the file history?

    Hello.

Is there a way to disable the timestamp in the file history?

    Original title: file history

No, you can't turn the timestamp in the file history.  That's how the backup system knows what backups are latest to avoid corruption and file damage.  It is also an inherent requirement of the NTFS file system, which require that all the files have the underlying timestamps.

  • Add in the name of the remote file timestamp in the output tab

    Hello

Is it possible to add a timestamp to the name of the remote file in the Destination of the tab part out?

For everyone's reference, it is possible using the underside of delimiters.

%m displays the month in two digits: 01-12 (where there is 01 = January)
    %d contains the two-digit date: 01-31
Hour displays the time on two figures based on a day of 24 hours: 00-24
    %M shows double-digit minutes: 00-59
%S displays the number of two-digit seconds: 00-59
    % of screens in three-digit milliseconds: 000-999

In this case, we just need to set up the file name as "+ dailyReport%y%m%d.pdf+".

  • saved file has the wrong timestamp

I have Dreamweaver MX2004 installed on two PCs, both have this problem... (the two Win XP home sp3)... When I save a file with DW time is 2 hours before my system clock. Even if I just upload (FTP) a file with good time... She is replaced to 2 hours in advance. I find this curious y at - it a setting or tweak somewhere? It only occurs with DW.

PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS ANSWER. THE HIDEOUS JIVE FORUM SOFTWARE ALLOW ME TO CHANGE IT.

Upon further research, it seems logical (not a bug because it works as expected) in the behavior of timestamp in MX 2004 that changed in later versions of DW (from v.8)

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/400/kb400972.html#how_dw_determines_change

«So that Dreamweaver MX 2004 knew for some distance and local files were identical, Dreamweaver MX 2004 set the local timestamp to match remote timestamp after each put or get.» This led to a question of ease of use, since now, you don't really know when a file has been updated locally. Dreamweaver 8 changes is no longer the local file date/time stamp to match the distance of time after putting / if then it will reflect the local time, when the file last saved. »

I'm afraid I don't see any way to change this behavior without upgrading to CS4. I don't see Adobe issuing a patch for MX 2004, given that the code has been created at the time when Macromedia owned DW.

  • Look for the timestamp when the file is moved

I want to find when my file is moved from one folder to another folder with in the same drive. Suppose I have a text file and I just cut this file to a folder and paste to another folder, but in the same drive then I see that none of the date changes i.e. Date_created, date_de_modification, Date_Accessed. Could any body tell me how can I identify when the file is moved from one place to the other place.

Can anyone help please as it is necessary in an emergency.

    Thanks in advance!

    I suggest you do this:

    1. Change the first two lines of the script more far down to suit your needs.
    2. Save the script as Filemonitor.vbs in an appropriate place.
    3. Invoke the script from a command prompt. He will continue to run in the background until you press Ctrl + C.
    4. Add a file in the target folder. Within 10 seconds, you should see the output in the log file.
    5. Add the name of the script to your startup or logon script so that it runs automatically.

    sTargetFolder = "D:\Test."
    sLogfile = "D:\Log.txt".

    Set OFSO = CreateObject ("Scripting.Filesystemobject")
    «sFldr = "" "" & Replace (sTargetFolder, "-","-") & "»
    Set oWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\.\root\cimv2")
    Set cMonitoredEvents = oWMIService.ExecNotificationQuery _
("SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 10 WHERE" _)
    & "Targetinstance ISA"CIM_DirectoryContainsFile"and"_ ".
    (& ' TargetInstance.GroupComponent ='Win32_Directory.Name = "& sFldr &" ' ")
    Do
    Set oLatestEvent = cMonitoredEvents.NextEvent
    Set oLog = oFSO.OpenTextFile (sLogfile, 8, True)
    oLog.WriteLine Date() & "" & time & "" & Replace (oLatestEvent.TargetInstance.PartComponent, "-","-" "")

  • Write to the file of text formatting issues

My apologies if I touch on a topic that is discussed elsewhere.  I have two questions, which seems to be related, I'll have to overcome the difficulties.  I date of blood collection, converting it to a temperature and then writes the timestamp, temperature, voltage, and original tension to the file.  Currently, when I write these values to the date and time of the file appear on a single line, temperature and tensions appear on the next line, and then there is a space before the pattern repeats.  In addition, before data are collected I write information in a header, and if you look at the .csv file attached, you will see that the data are that all offset a column to the left.  Any ideas how I can fix this problem?  My code is probably speaks for itself, but I really am a novice, so any general idea in the non-jargon terminology will humbly accept.  Cheers, Peter.

    GEO,

Do not build your strings in an array of strings.  An array of strings are written a / line in the function "write text to a file.

Use the function to concatenate strings and string together a tab character between the date/time and the first value.  The "write text to file function will add its own chain of end of LIFE at the end of writing.

  • writing data to the file of measure

    Hi all

I'm trying record rpm with an encoder in quadrature (200 ppm) in a LVM file with a timestamp of each saved value. It seems to work, except that it registers more values in the file LVM I want. I put the DAQ Assistant to save read 1 sample at a frequency of 1 Hz. However, when I open the file LVM generated by writing custom file Express VI, sometimes I get 42 values per second, sometimes I get 13 and so on. If I don't get a constant number of measurements per second. How can I specify just measure of folder 1 per second, or 5 measures and so on?

I'm using LabVIEW 2011. The encoder values be read as a frequency and then converted in rpm. Thank you! Files and images attached.

Your Express VI is not configured to play at 1 Hz. The synchronization method is the default value, which is used for the reading of the frequency as you do. This basically means you're sampling on the rising edge of the input signal, then you're really sampling rate at the same rate as your frequency.

To do what you want, you can change to mode 1 sample (on request) and add a 1000ms waiting your loop.

  • Writing to the file trigger event time

I'm new to LabVIEW.  I was changing the acq_graph_voltage_dig.vi I found to trigger recording using a digital triggering with a defined number of pre-trigger and posttrigger samples recorded.  I added screws to open, write and save a file of PDM with these data.  I want to be able to record when the shutter actually, produced as a separate channel or just as a landmark event when the trigger has occurred in the file.  I know that I understand that based on the number of sample pre-trigger, but it is something that I will probably change that I record.  I have only a single trigger per queue.  Someone at - it suggestions on how I could save the instance to trigger?

    Thank you!

    Hi shelby,.

I guess you want just the timestamp of when the trigger has occurred and then you will write this value to the file. If so, you can change the position of reading for relaxation of reference, read a sample and record the timestamp of this sample at the end of your file. A photo below as well as a version of the VI that you use. I add no IO files in the example as I assume that you already have this understood part. I hope that helps!
