• Why "Paint" the Illustrator is ruining my lines? Help, please.

  I create a linear gradient with 4 stops, and I like the effect it will create, although I'm not entirely sure how it works. There is a vertical line that I can control the gradient that goes from top to bottom on the form.

  Well, you would add certainly stops if you want another color, which does not otherwise appear in the gradient (blue to yellow to red, for example).

  The colors between stops are interpolated linearly. If you want to stretch a section of the gradient over another, then you add a stop and drag it.

  Above the slope, you can add the transparency stops, so you would add stop there, if you wanted to vary the transparency of the gradient.

  Other than that, Yes... the eyeball. Look at some of the presets and see how they are built.

• The use of gradients with the gradient mesh tool

  So I have a knowledge base to use the gradient mesh tool, but in my current project I need the gradients in the object to fade from black to transparent (it will be used for a single color tshirt).  I tried to do this in two different ways.  First, I created a massive white rectangle (no line) then created a column of 1 line 1 flat net of gradient on it.  Added the points I need, even added color and fade is exactly the shape that I need, but I can't find a way to get rid of the white and just melted transparent black.  I also tried to create a rectangle with a linear gradient, click on extend and chose the gradient mesh, but as soon as I press ok it modifies in black.  I've included a cropped picture of what I'm talking about.  All the tail feathers need to have this black gradient but without white, it takes out fade to transparent as other gradients around it.  I put a background color behind the image in order to make these areas easier to see.  Looks like there should be an easy fix, but I don't know how to do it. Any help would be really appreciated.

• Why can't I apply a gradient fill to a line segment?

  I created a line segment using the line segment tool. Then I changed the brush in arrow. I select the arrow and and drag the gradient shade I want to the described area to change, but it just turns black. I am able to change the arrow to any solid color, but not gradients. I have attached a photo if this will help. Sorry if this is not clear at all. Any help is appreciated!

  I would say just to develop the arrow, and then fill, but that's just me.

  When you apply a gradient to a rectangle I get the gradient tool, click on the half left of the object, that I want applied and while you hold, drag a line to right thew of the object. the problem when I release the mouse in the gradient bar that showed all hold, and then disappears. This is the case of the gradient, but the problem is that any gradient editing must be performed on the degraded as a set window to live on the object, slowing the flow of work.

  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but help would be much appreciated.

  Well, I searched for more than 3 hours and feel like a complete fool . I 'm starting to think that I was born on another planet.

  Trying to learn how to use Illustrator CS3 but apparently unable to put the brain in "Think Adobe" and use 'Adobe talk' when searching for help. As a backdrop, I use Photoshop 7 & parts of Illustrator 9 for about 5 years, but never dug in deep illustrator.

  Here's the problem: I did a little diagram of a cross section of the material in a wall in my house for a remodeling where insulation will be added outside the existing wall (below).

  

  The use for the diagram is to show the two contractors & building dept section Cross officials where "what in the wall". In order to ensure that no stone has been left to chance for misinterpretation, I finished drawing a Black line separating the materials old and new, as you can see. The line was made with the online tool.

  The disconnect came when I decided to make the line, a dashed line or even a dotted, far from continuous line. All other drawing programs I've ever used usually a select the 'style' or 'type' line to display, but I could not find any such thing in Illustrator and after 3 hours of research & read until my eyes went crazy, I gave up, got a glass of Scotch and went to bed without supper.

  I use the fake tool? Can I use the pen or pencil instead of the tool online? Or should I use Scotch well before my next ILLadventure? I tried "style of the line" & "line type" in searches with no results. The minis tutorials don't mention, that I could find. I missed somewhere?

  I used the gradient mesh in time. Usually, it does exactly what I want it to so I never asked me how it worked. Today, I was working on a project and I can't seem to get the mesh to do what I want.

  So I went out to do some research and I can't find information on this topic anywhere. It seems almost mystical. So, if there is a great resource that explains the logic behind how Illustrator choose the beginning and end of a line of mesh, please send it to me and I apologize in advance if this info is easy to find.

  Here's my problem. I have a curve. If I click in the curve where I want a line of mesh, the mesh line does not follow the shape of the object.

  When I use create gradient mesh, it's the stitch that I receive. My question is why the mesh lines did not follow the curve of the object. The first two columns are fine, but the last column is totally messed. Why he chose to use the points outside the curve as the end points? I get similar results when using the NET tool.

  

  As I know there is no way to change it, after the mesh is created. You cannot delete an end point and you can not move it without completely rebuilding your silhouette.

  I created a simplified form with fewer points and it does exactly the same thing.

  Does anyone have a help or advice on this topic. I don't understand why you are not able to control where the beginning and the end is a stitch line when using the NET tool. How is it chooses a start and end? This puzzled me. It seems random to me but I don't know it's just because I didn't understand the model at the moment.

  With a table control, you cannot set the display size to be anything other than a multiple of a complete cell.

  If you are limited to a number of lines and columns.  If you want to resize with more control you also need to resize the control within the Bay, accessible via the property 'picture Element '.

  Another option (but seems huge exaggerated) is to place your table in a secondary and set the size of the secondary to the size you need and enable scrollbars for her.  It is not an option that I would choose but if it helps...
