  My good old Ideapad S206 had good enough Wi - Fi problems since I bought it. Basically, the reception is extremely unstable, and it is a problem when the "net" part in "netbook" does not work properly, is it not?

  I tried to date/replace the driver for the card, but I am led to the conclusion that I should try to replace my network card.

  The steps to remove the mini-PCIe card is well documented in the hardware Maintenance Manual, which is really awesome. The map is easy to access, remove and change.

  However, I have a question: is there a form any 'BIOS-lock' on the network cards on this line of netbooks? In other words, I can use any network adapter from mini-PCIe instead of the original one, or is there some kind of white list in the BIOS that prevents the user to install one Wi - Fi card other than the original one? (because if there is a BIOS-lock, there is no point to spend money on another adapter that would still work)

  Here's a quick Heads up on this subject: I finally decided to take a chance and changed the original network card with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 Plus. I'm happy to say it works like a charm! The reception of the network is much better, and I can get a stable WiFi signal at home, that was impossible before.

  I still don't know if there is a whitelist located anywhere in the BIOS, but what I do know, is that you can replace the factory network card with an Intel mini-PCIe trouble-free model. Useful information for users of Ideapad S206 someday perhaps...

  So, problem solved!

  You are able to disable the CapsLock and NumLock?
  You can access the BIOS by pressing F2 by turning on the device?

  If this does not work, I would recommend checking an external USB keyboard.
  If the USB keyboard would be functions, then this means that the internal keyboard is defective and must be replaced.
