  Thank you, Jeff.  I found on another thread to uninstall other Adobe products and then install them after you have installed the CS product.  I uninstalled elements and CS4 installs fine now.  It's kind of a pain, but at least I can use it again.  I hope that I can re - install items with no problem, I like to use the photo database in the program elements.  Thanks again.

  It would probably never work. CS3 is same not hold for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the folder selections respective (info here) and then take the usual steps to run as administrator, disable UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be useless and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything whatsoever...

  Help!  You wanted to install this on my new PC. I had no problem at the origin of the installation on my old PC.  I have discs... but cannot go beyond disk #1.  I don't want to turn it off from the old PC, if I can't get it back.

  Did a little more digging.  I had to delete this file: program files Files\Adobe\backup\caps.db

  and then the setup.exe has started working.

  I have the Photoshop CS4 extended drive and try to install it on a new computer, windows 7. I disable it on the old computer. When I put the disc and you try to install, I get the message that it's corrupted. I can't find any downloads for this product only the new. There is no database of caps to remove, because I have not had the program on this computer again. I PSE11 on it and it has a caps.db file. Could this be the problem? Should not be a completely different installation? Anyway, if I can't get help online, I'll have to call Monday, but I was hoping to get this installed over the weekend.

  UPDATE. I uninstalled all adobe products on my computer and delete each caps I could find and then was finally able to install 4 CSP. I tried after each uninstall and it did not work until everything was off. I then reinstalled PSE11 (Yes, I have both) and am now reinstall adobe reader and flash.

  If ever I decide to move to 6 PSC I hope I don't have to go through all this again.

  What a pity that Adobe does not have this info on the support site. I found it by searching for the error here and watch I don't know how much of threads and finally found one where people uninstalled everything and it worked for several others in the thread.

  Please make sure you that if you have other applications of Adobe version installed as 3 CS, CS 5 or 6 CS.

  Make sure you have the serial numbers for the same thing.
