  Given that the material all past, and he could install another version of windows without problem, I suspect a problem with the 8.1 Windows installation disc x 64. IT may be a good idea to contact Microsoft about this.

  It is resolved, the problem was the level of compliance of the compiler, which unknown to me can be set in two places; a global (windows-> preferences-> compiler) and the other at the level of the project (right click on the folder of your project-> build path-> configure build path-> java compiler).

  Thank you for responding, I managed to get rid of the error by changing the level of compliance of the compiler... I didn't know there are two ways to define the path to build for a project (in the projects pane when you right click on the project) and the other for a global setting in the preferences window.

  I guess it's very obvious that I am still a beginner when it comes to Eclipse... lol

  I had a problem once with a french accent in the name of the script.

  What you can try is to remove the osworkspace directory (or at least save before and move or rename):
  C:\Users\your_username\osworkspace on 7 (or similar on WINXP).
  Then repeat for launch openscript

  When you try to install or update anything when the message appeared?

  If so, one thing you can try is this:
  -Click on start, select run... and type CMD into the DOS command prompt
  -Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll in command prompt and press ENTER.
  -You should see a message saying that DllRegisterServer in vbscript.dll successful, click OK

  Now you can try to reinstall the program/application/update.

  If not, can you give us some info on what you were doing when the error occurred?

  I just bought an HP computer, Windows 8 Pro, x64bit. I worked OK for a week and then started to freeze. It freezes all the time. I'll send the error message in the event log. I'd appreciate your help because I've had enough of this gel and I turn it works all the time.
