The keyboard layout!

Hello
I wonder if anyone can help me, recently some how, unknown to me, my keyboard changed on my laptop, so now whenever I press a button on the laptop, another letter or the value comes out, that is if I press j, then 1 appears on the display.
I tried to see if the language settings have been changed in Control Panel, but it is the same as usual so now I'm stuck. Please help me! Thank you

Hi Jade

There's no problem. You have inadvertently enabled the small keypad on your keyboard. It can be disabled by pressing FN + F11.

Good luck!

  • Changes the keyboard layout after I rebooted

    Hello

Several times when I restart Windows 8, the keyboard has been reset another provision of front. I have a Japanese keyboard on my laptop, so the keyboard layout is set to match. However, often, when I restart windows (I think especially after an update), the layout will be changed (to perhaps US, I'm not sure). It is extremely annoying: all keys of the symbol have moved, and it is very difficult for me to even type my password with a log in.

I can "solve" the problem by restarting Windows, after which he goes back to the provision of origin. But it's really annoying, and I was wondering if someone can help me to fix this bug.

    Thank you very much.

I have Windows 8, 64-bit running on an Asus zenbook (with Japanese keyboard).

I don't really have much knowledge of Japanese keyboards.

Take a look at this and see if there is a link to what's happening to you.

Original title: stuck in American English

I was using my laptop with the keyboard moving between French or British English that I didn't ask, no problem this morning. Now he has decided to keep on American English, no matter what language, the taskbar says he uses. I did not put that American English is at all today. Help, please!

Thank you, but have been there, what did somehow.
Did not any changes that I knew. Also had bees through the diagnostic steps suggest you, but not joy. My husband has finally solved the problem: he found a small icon (somewhere lower right scale) that looks like a keyboard and it was worth it-set to U.S. English, but where he found I do not have a clue and have never managed to find since!

  • Satellite M70 - lost the keyboard layout

    Hello

Yesterday, all of a sudden my keyboard has stopped working properly. I checked all keyboard configuration and they are correctly set to Portuguese, but when I try to use symbols (absolutely necessary in my language) they perform different tasks, for example, when I press 'a' the cursor goes to the bottom of the page, as if I had pressed "Page Down".

When I press "BACKSPACE", it erases the previous letter, but it goes at the beginning of the line (as if I had pressed "Home").

I have re-installed the controller and all, but I do not understand what is happening.

When I connect an external keyboard, it works perfectly.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

    Hello

I am very interested about your question, but can you give us more information or perhaps some examples.

I put t know in which country you live and if the unit is purchased in your country. If the unit is purchased in Italy the keyboard and the OS are designed for this country and everything should work correctly.

The regular version of WXP (language) is the same thing with the keyboard should avoid any problems.

  • Disable keys dead for the United States-International keyboard layout

    Hello!

I have been using the keyboard configuration United International (see 306560 KB) for some time now and there is one thing that I find really annoying: the keys for the ' (APOSTROPHE), "(QUOTATION MARK), '(ACCENT GRAVE), ~ (TILDE) and ^ (CARET) are 'dead' in that provision, which means that they do not produce immediately a character when I press them.»

I use this keyboard to enter German text and I did "dead keys" behavior at all, because all the German special characters (such as umlauts) can be produced by pressing the right ALT (ALTGR) while pressing another key (for example I can produce u pressing ALT GR + y). Dead keys can produce the same thing (for example pressing "follow-up of product u u) but I need them because I can produce them more easily otherwise.

So, that's so boring on the dead keys? They interrupt the 'normal' uses of the ' (APOSTROPHE), "(quotation MARK), key '(ACCENT GRAVE), ~ (TILDE) and ^ (CARET) that you must press SPACE to have actually produce it a character." For example, I have to press on "followed by SPACE to produce the" character, which is really a pain if you use a lot of quote. "."

So my question is this: can I use the keyboard layout United International (see 306560 KB) to type accents, but have the ' (APOSTROPHE), "(quotation MARK), key '(ACCENT GRAVE), ~ (TILDE) and ^ (CARET) behave as in the 'US' keyboard layout, so that they produce their respective characters immediately?"

If I can avoid using software 3 rd - party, it would be great. And I think I saw somewhere that you can actually "change" somehow an existing page layout, but I have not seen anywhere how to do for these dead wicked keys.

    Thank you
    Chris

    Thanks Rohit,

After a lot of reading, download and play with MSKLC, I derived my own layout of the provision of the US Intl without dead keys. If anyone is interested, I have published for download here:

  • You want to change the English keyboard layout us in Portuguese.

    Original title: Windows 8.1

How can I configure Windows 8.1 Portuguese keyboard since I was on the computer of the United States. Kind regards

    Eduardo

    Hello Angelica,.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the problem, you are ready to change the layout of the keyboard from English to Portuguese.

You can customize your keyboard for a specific language or format by changing the keyboard layout. The layout controls, the characters appear on the screen when you press the keys on your keyboard. Some input languages have several keyboard layouts; others have only one. For example, you can change your keyboard type to the English QWERTY format to the English Dvorak format. After you change the layout, the characters on your screen may not match the characters on your keyboard.

If you Add a new language for Windows, a default keyboard is also added if you can type in that language. If you don't want to use the default keyboard, you can add a different keyboard layout or input method editor (IME) to enter text.

I suggest you try the steps in the article mentioned below to change the layout of the keyboard and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

Please let us know the results. Do not hesitate to write back for any further assistance with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

Apply regional and language settings to reserved accounts

When you choose regional and language settings for your computer, such as keyboard or language available by default, you can apply those settings to special accounts in Windows called reserved accounts. Reserved accounts include the default user account and accounting system. These accounts are described below.

    Open region and language

Click administration, and then parameters of clickCopy.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    Do one of the following:

To copy the current settings to the default user account, select the new user accounts checkbox. The default account is used as a model for the creation of new user accounts. This setting allows administrators to set the default format, keyboard layout and display language for new users. Any user account created on the computer after the settings have been copied to the default user account will have these settings applied.  Existing user accounts are not affected.

To copy the current settings to the screen of welcome and other accounts system (local system, local service, and network service), select the screen and system accounts check box Welcome. The system of accounts is special accounts used by Windows.  This setting allows administrators to specify a display language and keyboard layout for the Welcome screen. It also sets the display language for users who have not specified a display language.

When I try to highlight a letter, for example by 'one', I get the side ' ~ ~ ' instead of the accent over the letter. I checked all the configurations of Windows and Toshiba SW and everything seems to go well tuned for Portuguese (Portugal).

    Hello

Normally, you can change the layout of the keyboard so go to control panel > keyboard. Here, you must add the keyboard layout you want and delete all other layouts you want.
