  Here are some instructions I've done for people who have this error message and are sometimes a little nervous about editing the registry:

  Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

  Open Notepad to create a new text file:

  Click Start, run and enter in the box:

  Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

  Copy and paste the following lines in bold text into the new Notepad file:

  Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

  [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\windows]
  "ErrorMode" =: 00000002

  Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

  fix13.reg

  After you save the file, close Notepad.

  Locate the file fix13.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

  Alternatively, you can right-click on the fix13.reg file, choose open with... and select the registry editor.

  Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

  You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

  Reboot your system and test.

  You can delete the fix13.reg file when you are finished.

  Here you see secondary hard drive?
  If so, you can assign it a drive letter and everything should be good.

• I'm having troble getting out of safe mode, I tried restarting and fixing of the window but won't get out of safe mode.

  Windows Vista

  Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

  Using the method of System Configuration tool:

  Note: If you have problems to enter Safe Mode using the F8 method, don't use this method to force so that it starts in mode without failure. For reasons that why you should read this.

  1. Close all running programs and open the windows if you are back on the desktop.
  2. Click on the Start () button.
  3. In the search box of the Start Menu () type msconfig and press enter on your keyboard.
  4. The System Configuration utility will open and you will see a screen similar to the one below.

     Click the Startup tab.

  5. You will now be on the screen start as shown below options.

     UNCHECK the box labeled Start secure

• Windows Taskbar and maximized

  I noticed a strange thing. I use 2 monitors with display in extension functionality.
  Sometimes when I maximize the window in the main screen (with the taskbar) window does not stop at the top of the taskbar, but at the bottom of the screen (the window is behind the taskbar).

  We will check if the system that is used performs differently according to the settings suggested Windows, rather than the settings currently defined to check the overall rate of return of the equipment to manage the operating system.

  To do this follow these steps:

  What we find, by changing the setting above, is a little on your configuration.  This should help us to look at what your system currently functions under Windows offers parameters.  This does not mean it's the only parameters that your system is capable, as it asserts some of this may be video driver or other driver related.  We understand that the problem is not consistent in how it happens, but we will give opportunity to these steps to walk to the other suggestions if necessary.

• How to re - activate the functions 'Restore previous Session', "Recently closed tabs" and "Recently closed Windows" in the menu of history?

  After that looking through the list of preferences of change created by the resolution of the problems, I tried now also reset the following text:

  The problem persists.

  I finally managed to understand this. In searching the Web, I found a thread detailing a similar problem on the Mozillazine forum. The problem has been identified as a missing browser.sessionstore.enabled set, so I went looking in Subject: config and couldn't find it. After creating the entry, by assigning the value true and restart Firefox, the functions of recovery/recently started working again. Apparently, some bookmark plugins and session-based can cause this problem, but in my case, it must have been something else, that I never had no such plug-ins installed.

  If you have this problem, here's a detailed itinerary of the way I fixed it. Whereas there seems to be several problems that can cause restore/recently functions to stop working, it is not a guaranteed fix, but it is still a thing to try, at least.

  1. Open a new tab or window.
  2. Type of topic: config address in the box and press ENTER.
  3. Read reviews and promise to be careful.
  4. Copy this: browser.sessionstore.enabled - and paste in Subject: config'search box in s. press ENTER.
  5. If you copied the text at the top right, the setting should appear in the list. If it is not the case, you have the same problem, I did. (I would say that you copy/paste the text indicated and only this text before moving on to double check).
  6. If the parameter does not exist, right click on the parameters of the list and choose new-> Boolean. Paste the parameter name that you copied previously in the name box, click OK and then set the Boolean true. Once you have click OK, restart Firefox, and (hopefully) things should work properly again.

  I've been putting cookies and my url window disappeared, as well as my file tab. The only thing on the top of my screen are the tabs in the window (web page tabs) and I just installed a tool bar.   Hi, I have recently updated my laptop to Windows 10. He had so many problems and I didn't like it at all, so I just returned my laptop to Windows 8.1.  Since then, my laptop does not correctly every time, and the fan immediately starts to work as well. I can start my pc and connect to my home screen each time.  If the tile is moving or light up when I move my cursor, then I know that I can use my laptop for a little while. It can freeze after getting out a good program. Other times when I start my laptop, everything is dead except for logging on my screen. My Windows key on the keyboard does not work most of the time.  If the screen does not respond the first time I turn, as described above, I can't absolutely nothing on my pc. I can't access the search bar by moving the cursor to top right, I can't open the tiles, I can't spend in desktop mode, etc.  Front I upgraded to Windows 10 and downgraded to 8.1 all worked perfectly, because I've updated from 8.0 to 8.1 Windows almost 2 years.  I have a defective battery. in fact I can only use my laptop if it is plugged. My fan is constantly going, but I don't know if it's my loss of battery or what's wrong with my pc now.  I have described my problem in the Microsoft community forum but have had little response that was not helpful. I was told to go to the command prompt and put in DISM: scan now (which also contained letters more than that, but I do not remember all). I followed the instructions and for 2 days, my pc seems to do better. Then he returned to this problem again.   Hello and thanks for the display on the HP support forum.  What you can do at this point that there are several updates released by microsoft and hardware vendors is running the Windows Update Troubleshooter.

  If this fails to solve the problem.  The only option will be to restore the operating system to the previous, until HP gets the drivers so that they can release them on the support page for your laptop for Windows 10.

  I bought a M40X-189 in 2005, which came with win XP Home Edition on a toshiba CD.

  I don't know if this is common worldwide or for different models; but my installation CD verifies only that it is in the computer on which it was purchased with and then coppies an image disk pre-installed and pre-activated windows XP on the computer. I love what it means I don't have to use the serial key and I am not limited to 3 activations on my serial key.

  The only complaint is that when I needed a CD of windows for fixing the computer (starting in recovery mode), this CD did not work and I had to download a pirated copy of XP home (I only it used once to start in recovery mode, and I never installed windows, so I hope that's ok).

  Anyway, the computer comes with a Hitachi HTS541060G9AT00 hard drive (60 GB, ATA - 6, 5400 RPM, 8 MB cache, 12ms search) and I wanted to upgrate to a 250 GB western digital drive with the same cache, research, interface and rpm.

  I was wondering will the CD still be able to install windows or he thinks that it is not the computer, it came with and therefore not let me install?

  If you want to install Windows XP using not the recovery disc, then you will have to enter the serial on the right key.
  If you don t have a serial key on the right then you will not be able to complete the installation of the OS.

  With regard to upgrading the HARD drive:
  I know you can use a 120 GB 2.5 IDE HDD for sure, but I don't very well if the 250 GB would be recognized due to the LBA 24 bit m.

  I recommend you to choose a 120 GB HARD drive

  The problem I have with the pavilion DV4-2145DX , approximately 12 months, using windows 7 is when I close the lid or put in "standby mode", now and then the window opens but the internet does not, nor all the other icons.

  When I go to restart it, the closure does not work so I stop hard.

  When it restarts all works well again.

  When I shut down normally and re start the computer no problem at that time.

  Any ideas please.

  Run as administrator may be required for some games and programs because they have a permission structure different in Vista in Windows 7 (Windows 7 and Vista are different in how to manage certain permissions).

  I suggest test you installation of the game in the program by clicking on the Setup file by clicking on "Run as administrator".

  This will sometimes solve this kind of situation because it installed the program in a State of high permission.
