  Unfortunately the o/s 8 of Microsoft won't let you pin a Metro(Start Screen) App anywhere in desktop Mode.

  But there are ways to do it, but they require 3rd party applications. These applications also give you tons of options to address other aspects such as adding a Start Menu to the desktop Mode if you do not have to go to the start screen to access all your applications. They also give you the ability to boot directly into Desktop Mode, add a context menu of real right click that you can use in the start screen and many other useful options.
