The Media button freezes in Palm Desktop!

I chatted with the guys at palm, and I'm getting nowhere fast!  I have a Centro through Verizon and everything works perfectly, except that the Media on the Palm Desktop button crashes whenever I try to go into it.  It will say "loading" on the bottom, but he never goes anywhere, and the rest of the program crashes while I have to end up using the Task Manager.  I have Vista, but I don't think that should I need to download update Vista palm offsite, because I just got the phone about 2 weeks ago.  The two guys on the cat both try to help me to clear up my registry and then I had to uninstall and reinstall office, but all without success.  3 hours of cat made me think that they know what they are talking about!  Does anyone else have this problem?  And, if so, how to solve?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help, hardbeatz, but I finally realized my problem via the service line customer palm (didn't realize it's free in the first 90 days of purchase).  It turns out that the media on palm desktop program is not compatible with Vista when Vista has the Media Center suite loaded on this subject.  Not sure how that affects him, but obviously this is the case.  I don't have a laptop with Vista that doesn't have a Media Center on this subject, and I can run palm desktop on it perfectly.  So I can just sync to two computers, according to my needs and they work a challenge to palm to do, too.  Thanks again for your help!

  • Satellite P500-1DZ: how to set up the media buttons?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Is it possible to configure these tactile media under my power button buttons? I use iTunes for my music and wants to be able to jump the tracks/pause reading that, for now, only work for windows media player.

Im kind of a fool when it comes to computers so would like a step by step guide.

    Thank you

    Hi Joe11,

Generally, buttons are designed for Windows media player and the Toshiba DVD player as you can read in the user's manual.

They also work with Winamp as written Timox, but that's why you must change the configuration of Winamp.
So the same thing you have to do with iTunes. Maybe you will find such an option, that they allow to use the illuminated buttons.

  • Satellite A300 and WIn7 - cannot use the media buttons

    I have laptop Satellite A300.

Recently, I have reinstalled my Windows 7 Pro x 64 using the update (not clean install) option. So I kept my program and settings. But in the player Panel multimedia (or whatever it's called) that allows me to play, stop the music, changing songs etc does not work completely. I can't use 2 "buttons": one that allows me to toggle the highlighting and the other who turns on the media player.
I need their work. I got tired of Toshiba button support, but I don't know what to do here.

    Hello

You need to install is Toshiba Value added Package. I use Win7 on my A300 and all buttons work perfectly. But I use the 32-bit version.
I put t know if your A300 is supported for Win7 64 bit, but you can try to use THIS version.

Before you begin installation remove old version, if exist, restart the laptop and install this version.

I hope this will help you.

  • Satellite M50: How to make the media buttons on the right works with Vista

    Hello
I successfully upgraded to Vista a all parts have been recognized in the right way.
Now I am looking for a method to make the multimedia control buttons works with vista.

You know a laptop that has the buttons too and for whom is the Vista drivers available?

    Kind regards
    Steffen Schreyer

    Hello

Generally these additional buttons needs a Toshiba control utility which is responsible for the good condition of these key market.
Unfortunately, it does appear that an update of the BIOS and the driver of BT has been published for the Satellite M50 PSM53.

But in other sections, you might find a value-added package for Vista.
This package includes a few additional applications.

Maybe this works on an M50. Check the download page of several series of laptops on the pilot.
If this will not work, then you can do nothing ;(

    Good luck

I did a successful iMac and TX synchronization and install Palm Desktop 4.2.1.  Everything appears in Office except the media files (which were there with Palm Desktop using Windows XP on my old computer).  I was able to transfer a photo from the Mac and Texas successfully.  Why don't the media files appear in Palm Desktop?

Could be something of a bad download to a bad installation. First lets try the easy uninstallation. Just go into your control panel, remove the Palm Desktop restart your PC. Don't forget to restart and do not sleep. Most Vista PC are configured to sleep. Then download the site and reinstall it. Ignore the synchronization options you get and restart again. Then open the Palm Desktop and see if it works.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2 Windows 8 missing modules after the update to version 4.1.4

After installing Palm Desktop 6.2.2 version 4.1.4 on my laptop to Windows 8 for use with my Palm Tungsten E2, I now only 4 modules... Fees, Note Pad, media and install. Where have calendar, addresses, etc., disappear to?

Version 7.0.2 HotSync Manager also offers, USB, network and series, but NOT the Bluetooth in connection settings. I use an IVT BlueSoleil Bluetooth adapter and their driver/software version 8.0.395.0, which works very well with anything else.

GoneFishin6, I suggest you clean uninstall/reinstall Palm Desktop.

Your question is the first I've heard of.  Others report success with Win8.

These instructions are for Vista, but should work for Win8.

You first need to you a copy of your data to have just in case something happens. You can find your data files by clicking on start-> Documents-> Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop user name and right click and copy. Then go to the desktop of your PC, click on a blank spot block and select.

If this is the first time, you install Palm desktop and encounter a problem, go to the previous step. If you are not concerned about your data at this stage, go to the next step.

Now, you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove anything that has to do with Palm Desktop on your computer. Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below. [C:\Program Files\Palm or C:\Users\[Vista Palm connection name] \appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne C:\Users\[Vista Login Name] \appdata * note you may need to show hidden folders to join appdata. To do than to go into your control panel and open folder options. Go to tab and uncheck hide hidden files.

When you use Palm desktop 6.2, look in my documents or documents and delete the folder Office of PalmOS. It is the location of the PD 6.2 data files.

Once this is done, you will need to remove certain keys in the registry of your PC operating system.

Word of warning, go here and removing the wrong thing can cause your PC to start, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel that you are not sure of yourself, see if you have a friend who can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to remove. To make sure that we have a good copy of the current registry, we make a backup of the registry.

Go to start on your PC in the search box type "regedit.exe" without the quotes.

Point peak COMPUTER, go to file-> Export. Should appear with a save as box. Current place of residence is fine, must be within My Documents, or save to a location that you will remember. In the name of the file in low type "backup [todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Then, the most difficult part.

The best way to ensure that your work with the right key, select the key that is installation quick palm and press delete on your keyboard. You will be asked, you of course. Say Yes. Do the same for all the keys below.

If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.

The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of the theses reg keys will not be here, but if they remove them)

    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer * Robotics\Pilot Desktop HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm

    Then, restart your computer.

Then, reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If request you a user name, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right of the screen to hotsync.

  • Slow reaction of the media on Win XP buttons - Satellite A300-1MX

    Hello world

I bought a Satellite A300-1MX about 1 month ago. I had XP installed on it. I installed all the drivers, etc.

The multimedia keys, however, are a little slow in their reaction, meaning: I press one of them (e.g. READING), then it turns on and outside as normally (at full speed), but then he only PLAYS the song after maybe 3-4 seconds.

The problem is that I've lived twice more that these media buttons reacted very quickly (so normal speed), and only two times this happened was when, once I played a PC GAME, and once I was using another program.

So it was almost like they wud answer quickly only if traore to be little RAM used, or some processor used. Do not know well, that's my theory.

Maybe somebody has a solution for how to get the media buttons respond quickly (normally) and not only after 3-4 seconds.

PS: I use the windows media player for media buttons.

    Thank you very much!!
    Sasch

    Hello

It is not easy to say what the problem is here. In my view, it is also important that opinion may be different on the speed, how he should respond. I put t know what you mean with slow or fast, but if the player has already opened the music should start playing immediately.
When you press play and wait for the application to open can only takes a few seconds to start, and it is nothing unusual.

Another important point is preinstalled WXP. Have you noticed that normal speed with Vista preinstalled?

  • Palm desktop version & clarification driver

    Hello

I have a unlocked version of Palm Treo 680 not through any mobile service provider (that I just love, use 7 years now! and will continue to use it until it dies - if any company sells this device once again, I will buy it again!)  It's good I think it is even though I have an iphone and android also phone that are more for the consumption of information & media. Applications of PIM 680's Treo and taking notes, the keyboard have no parallel).

With many changes in the PC world, I intend to update my PC but it takes to only get one that can run Palm Desktop. I've been through a number of messages in the forum and am a bit confused.  There are some different Palm Desktop version (Office 6 and 4.2 desktop and desktop 4.1.4 and I remember reading this forum for a long time that return this worm 4.2 is better than 6 worm) and different drivers (32 bit vs 64 bit those provided by Aceeca). In addition, I read in the download page of office of Palm Palm Desktop is not compatible with computers of several base units, IE, I assume that it refers to dual-core, quad-core including the basic series processors and new processors Atom Baytrail.

If you would be grateful if we could fill the table below next to each type of OS, which is the version of office and keep as a reference for everyone so that when upgrading from their computers, they can have that in mind:

Bits processor Palm pilot Desktop operating system

    --------------------         ----                -----------                              ----------------                         --------

    Core Windows XP 32

    Windows XP 32 multi-hearts

    Windows XP 64 kernel

    Windows XP 64 multi-hearts

    Core Vista 32

    Vista 32 multi-hearts

    Core Vista 64

    Vista 64 multi-hearts

    Win 7 32 core

    Win 7 32 multi-hearts

    Win 7 64 core

    Win 7 64 multi-hearts

    Win 32 8 core

    Win 32 8 multi-hearts

    Win 64 8 core

    Win 8 64 multi-hearts

I imagine that the different flavors of each operating system (e.g., home, premium etc.) have no importance have not created separate for them lines.  If they import, please add.

Finally, I believe that, in many cases, 2 or 3 versions of Palm Desktop can run (IE ver 4.2, 4.1.4 6 Worm worm), it would be good if below, include just the advantages and disadvantages of each:

    Pros                                        Cons

    ------                                       ------

    Palm Desktop ver 6

    Palm Desktop version 4.2

    Palm Desktop version 4.1.4

Thanks in advance to the experts, and I hope this info can be useful to many people now and in the future

    Concerning

With the advent of Vista, quick setup has stopped working.  That's why Palm hired a company to write a new version of Palm Desktop which is the option.

Thus, Palm Desktop 6.2.2 was born.

It has its share of bugs so.  Less customizable to 4.x, no Docs to go play back and tends to erase data if cut you your computer with the program still running!

There are solutions to application installation.  I remember a program called 'My install' you place on an SD card.  Any file that you want to install can be copied in the folder myinstall on the map (using any inexpensive card reader connected to your computer), and then you run the program.  It will install everything what it finds in the folder as would Quick Install.

Some simple applications can only be copied to the card and run.

  • Satellite P305-S8832 - media buttons do not work with Win7

    Hello friends, wise

I recently installed two new hard drives (500 GB 7200 RPM OS / 500 GB 5400 RPM DATA) and I did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on my 3 1/2 Toshiba Satellite P305-S8832. Everything except the media buttons works well enough.

I downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba repository, including the installer of the Software for Windows 7 Toshiba and package valued Toshiba. These touch buttons above the keyboard and between the speakers still doesn't work, no light, no response, nothing. I checked the bios.

These buttons work out of the box with Ubuntu Linux, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

    Any advice?

    Hello

In General, the multimedia keys are controlled by VAP (value added package) and the buttons should work after the installation of VAP.

    Found the drivers here:
    [Satellite P305-S8832 drivers: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=2059997& rpn = PSPC0U & modelFilter = P305-S8832 & SelCategorie = 2756709 & selFamily = # 1073768663]

It seems that there is also a newer version of VAP.
Check other new series Sat P in order to get the latest version of VAP.
Also install the hardware installation. This tool allows you to customize your hardware parameters

  • Satellite A500-1EE (PSAR9E) media buttons are not lit in Fendora

I installed Fedora 16 on my Toshiba Satellite A500-1EE, part number PSAR9E, in replacement of Windows 7. Most of the stuff works very well, fortunately, except that the media buttons (play/pause, volume up/down, etc.) are not enlightened. It's frustrating because I often work in low light and simply can not see the button, which forces me to turn on the light every time I want to change the volume or move to the next song in my MP3 player.

The highlight was done with Windows 7 (running after starting Windows, but was extinguished during the boot process), so he's certainly not broken.

I tried with 16-32 & 64 bit Fedora and dreamlike Ubuntu 32 bit and I can't seem to find a way to turn on the light of media buttons, leading me to suspect is a Linux question nationally.

Is there a setting, tool or any other solution that would allow me to have my media buttons light on?

As you probably know for this lighting feature Toshiba designed little tool, this piece of software is designed for the Windows operating system only.
I also know that Toshiba doesn't support Linux, so there is none of these tools which runs on the Linux platform.

Have you tried to check some Linux forums and pick up the experiences of other experts in Linux.
