• Xbox 360 Media Center Extender loses the connection to the media center to Windows 7 after change of router

  I have a Windows 7 Media Center box, and an Xbox 360 that I use as an Extender.  The two connections to the same wired router.  Everything worked fine until I went on my old router (failed) and put in a WNDR4300.   After the new router has been installed, I didn't have the Extender work then, deleted from the media Center and re - he added.  It worked but after I shut off/started the xbox, no link.  It is repetitive: I can make a new connection, but then it didn't reconnect after reboot of the xbox.

  -J' changed to a static IP xbox

  -There is no part 3 a / v or a firewall on the support center

  -L' on the media center network adapter is 'home '.

  -The network card on the media center * fact * show the xbox 360

  -The event log after the xbox is restarted shows:

  event ID 538: installation of media center extender does not like the Extender has been detected on the network, but for the Extender upnp search failed (timed out after 20000ms)

• 0 x 80070011 when you try to add the Media Center of Windows 8 Pro

  I am attempting to add Windows Media Center to my installation of Windows 8 Pro but get an error message saying something with evil.  Looking at the logs, I see that the problem is "DoTransmogrify failed due to error 0 x 80070011" which indicates there is a problem with my user directory is on a drive other than the Windows folder.  Since I have an SSD relatively low to start I moved my user to a much larger hard drive folder.  Should not directory junctions work the same as if the file was on the same drive?  Is there a work around short replacing my user on the c: folder?

  I had a similar problem with window 8 RSAT tools that lead me to this post in my search for a solution. I'm not positive that this will solve your problem but it worked for me. Because the Setup program does not seem as follows symbolic links that point to different disks, I simply said the installer the real location of the profiles it is updated during the installation. Open the registry editor and navigate to:

  HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
  Change the location of the "Default", 'ProfilesDirectory' and 'Public' StringValues to point to the real target of your users path a symlink on drive c. (IE. "D:\Users\*).
  Run the Media Center Setup
  Change back the path in the registry.
  (I'm not positive that this is necessary, as you'd still have the symbolic link on your C drive as points that anything using this path to the right folder, I just changed it back to %SystemDrive%\* so that I could test to see if the RSAT tools has always worked without the explicit path used in the registry.)

  Only uncheck Windows Media Center

  Select OK.

  Restart your computer.

  Go back and put a check in the box, and then restart your computer.

  Windows Media Center is included in Windows 7 (NOT available in editions of Windows 7 Starter and Windows 7 Home Basic Edition ).

  To activate it please open Control Panel and select programs and features.
  On the left pane, click turn Windows features on or off.
  Scroll to the multimedia functions and expand the folder. Then check Windows Media Center, and then click ok.

• Using the media update for windows 7 (from vista), can I now re - install 7 via the clean install option, even if it is the path I have chosen when first installing 7 first?

  With a 7 upgrade version (not the full version) I could not use the upgrade option to install 7 on Vista, because it asked me to uninstall 2 programs that would not work in 7 with installation before you begin.  I couldn't do it because my Windows Installer is missing on my computer. (In fact, I couldn't even run the Windows Upgrade Advisor before proceeding with the installation because this program must be installed on your computer before you can run) So, I chose to use the custom installation and it worked fine, except that my computer is now worse than with vista. Thinking that it was because he kept all the vista files (windows.old) I deleted this file, but he did that give back me my hard drive space. I would like to make a re-install using this same version upgrade disc, but I've heard that I can not do a clean install, if the original operating system is not currently on the computer (using the version upgrade 7, not the full version), and I guess that's is more on my computer with the exception of fragments which I affect 7 performance. If this is true, what should I do? If I have to go to the full version, is there a way I can just pay the difference between what I already bought and version complete, or will lose money that I spent on the upgrade version, and buy the full version outright? Bottom line is this:  I want to just Vista on my computer for GOOD!  I don't want something that looks even left of Vista on my computer.
