The OWB with Oracle DB 11.1 11.2 client configuration

Hello

I hope that you all are doing well.

I have tried to study Oracle heterogeneous Services and had tried to import data from excel spreadsheets in to OWB 11.1 using DG4ODBC. I had a few errors and discovered a writing on threads OTN that there is a bug in OWB 11.1, which was set at OWB 11.2. I installed OWB 11.2 only to discover that the two versions of owb cannot coexist. Given that I didn't ruin my already present workspace, I installed a new copy of oracle DB 11.1 to configure with owb 11.2. I followed the steps mentioned in the Oracle documentation, but nothing helped. Not only do you OWB 11.2 not get set up, my old verion of OWB lost its configuration with the old workspace. It gives me this error when I try to open a session:

"API5055: this user has not registered to any warehouse builder workspace." You want to go ahead to create a new workspace for it, or save it to a? »

I don't want to create a new workspace, I save it to my old. But I don't know how to do this. Can someone please help? I am badly stuck!

I also want to understand whether it is possible for me to use customer OWB 11.2 to manipulate existing data workspace of OWB 11.1 without deleting OWB 11.1?
And is there indeed a bug in OWB 11.1.0.7.0 that prevented me from impporting data in owb for MS Excel? I really need to go to OWB 11.2?

I would be very grateful for your help.

Thank you
Ann.

In fact, it is a problem but not with OWB - it seems that there is a bug in the database/bridge of Oracle 11 g.
So - selection from the dictionary views doesn't work against the HS ODBC connection to Excel (or perhaps other sources with ODBC).
But it is possible to access the worksheets in the Excel file.

The first add to the setting of the initEXCEL.ora file (remember to restart the listener)
HS_FDS_SUPPORT_STATISTICS = FALSE

If you know the name of the Excel worksheet, you can get access to the HS link,
for example, the worksheet name is Sheet1, choose, so must be

Select * from 'Sheet1$"@dblink '.

Hope this helps

  • create the database with Oracle Client link

    Hello together,

on my machine Windows 7 with Oracle Client installed 12.0.1.0, I'm trying to create a database link to a database server, which runs on Oracle Standard Edition1 11.2.0.2.

When I connect to sqlplus on the client with "sqlplus/nolog" and type the command:

SQL > create SID of the database link

connect to the user identified by passwd

    using "tnsnames.ora connection."

I have a SP2-0640: not connected. OK, it is clear, because I use sqlplus with option/nolog. But client-side normally I have no database, where I can connect. So I think, there is no user, or?

The database to which I want to connect is located in tnsnames.ora.

Generally: Is it possible to use the Oracle Client to create a database link? Maybe there's another way to do this?

A big thank you and best regards,

    David

You don't seem to understand the concept of a database link.

A database link connects two databases. Not a client and a database.

You need to link up in a data source to a target database.

The only thing you need is a client of sqlplus in sqlplus client, you need to connect to the source database.

If you can't connect to the source database, you must present the statement to someone.

  • using the following with oracle erp system

    Hi all

Does anyone have experience in the use of the Infor ERP LN with oracle. They are completely compatible... the reason why I ask is to make a good argument why our society needs oracle when migrate us to our new ERP system infor ERP LN. currently sellers are trying to make us change to sql sever.

The seller itself should be able to tell if they are certified against Oracle. I would do certainly official confirmation from the supplier it themselves, otherwise you might find yourself in a lot of trouble if it turns out that he is not certified and you have major problems.

Saying: "I asked a guy on a forum" would do nothing to help keep your job in this case...

  • How to integrate the OPA with Oracle apps?

    Hello

I am very new to the OPA.
We would like to integrate the OPA of oracle apps R12 propert manager. Please let me know software prereq for the latter. And where to start?

    Thank you
    Praveen

    Praveen,

OPA has a fairly standard history of integration, depending on what you want to do exactly.

    * You can integrate into an application that uses the Java or .NET API.
    * You can integrate an Application using the determination using XML/SOAP server.
    * If you want to use our Web Application (Web determinations) to conduct interviews, you can write plugins for determinations of Web which will allow you to do things such as the seeds a session when an interview starts, load banks of application data sessions and save sessions in application data stores.

Take a look at the political Oracle of automation of OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/apps-tech/policy-automation/overview/index.html section. You'll find some tutorials and white papers integration, etc.

  • How to strengthen the basis of oracle data that is installed by default configuration

    Hello DBAs,

A recent hearing in our database by the world famous firm oracle administration gave us their evaluation report, which also includes a clear guide to harden our server and the database. I got very frustrated by their report because he had only 5 lines of conclusion which should be corrected so that my expectation was higher that this number because I gave them access to one of our databases was in its default installation mode. So, I can't assume the database secure after these made corrective activities. So, please could you me what would be the minimum that must be in place for safety. Therefore, I would like to know all the post of tasks of installation if someone already has.

    Thank you for your support.

The Security Guide database for your version of Oracle will have a chapter on maintenance of your Oracle Secure database which is a good starting point.  In reality, however, much will depend on the specific requests that a specific database is running and the requirements of your organization and these applications.  If you run a system or application of health care, for example, in some other highly regulated industry, it is likely that additional steps will have to be taken beyond the generic suggestions the Security Guide - configuring encryption transparent to data or Data Vault or data, encryption of communication via the network masking or activation of the audit to end grain or any number of other technologies allowing Oracle.

  • RAC with Oracle VM and Windows Server

    Hi all,

We want to implement the system with Oracle database 11g or 10g 64 bit (CARS) on the OS of Microsoft Server 2008/2003. We do not have enough licenses for all the hearts, and we want to find a way to implement the RAC database with existing licenses.

Is this a good solution to use virtualization, as Oracle VM?
How much is safe to use virtualization?
Can we do Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments Oracle VM with Windows Server 2008 64-bit (or 2003 Server) operating system and use hard partition?
Is it better to invest in licenses or try with Oracle VM?

Oracle VM can be configured so that it is recognized as a difficult score.
Hard partitions allow customers of one license these CPU used by the partition instead of license all the processors on the physical server.

two times (2x) the amount of real CPUs / cores in the Oracle VM server.
The amount of VCPUs allocated to a single guest domain should not exceed the amount of real CPUs /
cores in the Oracle VM server.

  • Creation of data Mart: OWB, SSIS or the use of Oracle?

I'm working on creating a data mart as a new application for my work. I am a developer pl/sql, but I have no experience in DW. I am looking at what technology to implement this. Each instance of the project for which I work is quite complicated to deploy. Therefore, the easiest way.

Could someone advise me on the use of Oracle Warehouse Builder? be useful to use it to create a simple data mart?

Could I have all of the features needed in a mini - data warehouse by simply using jobs of oracle for the planning of the ETL process created in pl/sql (bulk collect) without using another tool? Is this possible? We do not want to use SSIS.

The DB is 10g EE R10.2.0.1.0, but we could move to 11g as needed

Help with that I will be grateful.

  • Setup error ODAC 12 c R4 client on the same machine with Oracle 11 g 64 bit for Windows database

I have Oracle objects and mobile application development with:

    Windows 7 64-bit OS

    Base Oracle = C:\ORA

    Database Oracle 11 g 64-bit 201, home = C:\ORA\DB11G201

I was running in Visual Studio 2010 and the ODAC customer Oracle 32-bit in another home = C:\ORA\DB11G201CLIENT32

All was well for a few years on that set up.

I decided to upgrade to Visual Studio 2013 and .NET 4.5

Deletion of Visual Studio 2010 and installed Visual Studio 2013.

I did a normal uninstall of the Oracle 11 g 32-bit client using the rebooted, Oracle Universal Installer.

The customer old house was gone.

I downloaded the ODP.NET12C 32-bit Oracle with VS tools R4 and began the installation of the client.

I selected English and built-in OS account

    I chose Oracle base = C:\ORA

    I chose hone Oracle = C:\ORA\DB12CR4CIENT32

    But I encounter the error:

[INS-32104] User Oracle Home specified is not the owner of the Oracle Base specified.

    The owner of C:\ORA's ADMINISTRATORS.

    When should I do?

For guests of 12 c, opened a NEW BASE and a NEW HOUSE?

Created an ACCOUNT to STANDARD USER and the select statement, but keep c:\ORA and the new C:\ORA\DB12CR4CIENT32 of the House?

I'm a hold out for migration to Oracle 12 c database because they thrown into the very useful tool Oracle Database Control and replaced by something watered down.

So I like to keep the Oracle 11 g 64-bit database.

but Visual Studio 2013 support, use the 12 c R4 32-bit and 64-bit support drivers unmanaged.

I would use (and use) Managed drivers, but they do not work in database 11g FIPS-140 active environments.

Thank you for your help and comments.

    Hello

This is expected because you install 12 c in Base Oracle who has home 11g.

From 12 c, the installation program has promoted "Oracle Home User' where you can perform the installation with built-in admin user or a secure non-admin user.

    As documented at https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/NTCLI/install.htm#NTCLI1283

"Oracle 12 c Release 1 (12,1) database client may not share basic Oracle with houses of the Oracle database versions, such as Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2) and sooner."

Please see the information listed in the link above for more information.

Bascially, you need to install in a different Oracle Base and can have all this work.

    Kind regards.

However, the HR user is always unlocked after issuing this command, and can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
