  'Officially', with the stock power supply, the GTX960 is the highest card, you can keep on XPS8700, 400W is enough for this card (will get mine installed tomorrow... MSI GTX960 games 4 GB).

  Your PC has UEFI bios, so most video cards should work.  Some video cards will work in UEFI mode and others in legacy mode, that your PC is able to run.

  When the manufacturer of the video card and/or AMD or NVIDIA specify a minimum power supply size then it is best to stick to this recommendation.  Not all power supplies are built to the same standards of quality.  In addition the internal components, temperature, charges unknown and time that the PC will be placed under the maximum load are taken into account at the recommendation of minimum power supply is indicated.

  I have not seen a power of 500 watts with 12v rating of 18A, but this does not mean that there is not. And if that's the case, then the total power rating is suspect. A video card that requires an external auxiliary power connector will also draw power from the PCI-E slot.

  Are there cases where the minimum size of the power supply is insufficient?   It's like buying a car.  You pay the best features you get. Those you have posted is OK, a little low. The wattage is actually a trick few because a grade A 500w will in fact on most power cleanser in conditions normal operation than a budget model. I personally like modular PSUs because that basically custom, you can do the installation and power cables that you actually need. None of the above are modular.  Modular costs a little more. The connector you want to be sure to have is the power of 6-pin pci-e. They have all taken P4 auxiliary these days. The first that you shown above has a list of connectors and I can confirm that it has everything that you will need.

  And the industry standard power supplies... ATX is a power of a specific size, and they should be inter changeable. Just to be sure, however, to measure the old and compare to the new dimensions.   This is a power supply which should meet your needs.  It is 600W, but will cost less than the 500W after delivery.  Be sure to follow the instructions for the delivery of the letter.  This ensures that you don't lose.  I always suggest measuring the PSU existing and comparing measures to one you buy.

I spoke with a hp technician before you buy a PSU and I was told that my motherboard was only designed to use a 300 watt max power I tried to buy one at best buy and the clerk said 4500 is the smallest they sell. and I need at least a 400 Watt or powerrsupply to make the new video card with a value of buyiong. My questuion is what can I do if I can't buy one more big power supply how can I install a new video casrd? Please help me I'm lost

  Sorry to hear about your frustration. Here's some good news.

  I think you have been misinformed or there was a communication error. Your motherboard should not be limited to the only 300W. I don't know with certainty how high you can go in watts, but you can go higher and should go higher, if you add a video card.

  The important thing is to get the right kind of diet that fits your connectors.

• p6203w M/N - 250 Watt power supply, to be upgraded.

  This model slimline I, p6203w, contains a small 250 Watt PSU.  I want to improve, but I fear that the new power supply may be too much physically.

  I know that I could just leave it outside the PC, but I prefer to have it mounted properly.  Are there updates available that will be adapting the standard framework p6203w?

  You need to open your PC and measure the physical dimensions of your diet. Here is a list of the things to consider:

  3. amperage 12 + v - important
  4 modular - is not required, but I like the flexibility
  5. guarantee
  6 i7 and SLI ready
  7. energy efficiency
  8 cost
  9. size - standard ATX PSU is 5.5 "by 5.9" by 3.4 "give or take a few tenths
  10. a single + 12 volt rail is a better choice.

  Generic standard ATX power supply can be installed, with a power of 20 + 4 pin main motherboard, or 24 pins as the XPS 8300 has a rear panel open, with or without the on/off switch.

  You should be able to buy a compatible power supply either a local computer or online store.

  Note: A power supply with four SATA power connectors, is necessary.

  Unfortunately, your desktop PC uses an exclusive style of PSU, so standard ATX PSU will not work.

  Upgrading the owners 300 Watt PSU 600W ATX POWER supply is not just going to work.

  Your desktop PC is one that is not very conducive to the upgrade.

  Theoretically, there is no limit to what you could install. Reported desktop HP consumer does not not with supplies valued at more than 650 watts. There is absolutely no reason to replace your power supply unless you were planning on installing a graphics card high power or a large number of readers and accessories. Please consider the Corsair CX500, CX600, CX500M, CX600M. These power supplies are known to adapt to most HP consumer desktop computers and equip all but the most extreme updates.

  Basically,.

  Turn off the power and remove the side panel.

  Follow the wires of the power supply where they connect and lable them so that you know where they go - draw an image on paper to help remember you.

  Unplug the power inside the PC cables.

  Unscrew the 4 screws at the rear that hold the power supply to the case.

  Replace with a good ATX power supply. I would put in a power supply rated at 50 Watts higher than the required mark for the fancy video card you're shoving in you can even take the old power supply with you (if you buy in a store of the local computer). This way you can make sure all connectors that have used match and you will have enough connectors to all of your components.

  Insert the PSU and screw it with the 4 screws.

  Connect the cables, replace the side panel you and plug the power supply cord.
