Need advice on the video card / power supply upgrade

OK, first of all I am a novice to PC. But I have a HP pavilion a6600f. I wan to be able to play games like Battlefield BC2 but graphics integrated card wont cut it. I checked some info and found what motherboard I have. Its a FOXCONN Napa HP P/N. There is a link to the Board of Directors in case it might help you to answer my question. http://www.cnsunnyit.com/products/HP-motherboard-KJ383-69002_78.html

This motherboard is a card like a GeForce 7800 GT or ATI X 1900? These cards are what is suggested as a Minimum for this game. Also maps would require me to get a 400W power supply. The power supply can be changed as well? All the answers you may have would be great. Also remember that I know very little in terms of pc in order to keep its simple for a simpleton like me. Thank you!

Hi 223fmj,

You came to the right place.

Yes, you can update your graphics card. More than all that depends on ports inside your PC.  Depending on your motherboard (HP) card , you can install PCI Express x 16 graphics cards.

Here is a link to instructions on the adding/replacing a video card in your PC:

Here is a link to how to replace your power supply (with video):

And here is a link to the page for your PC that received instructions from replacement/upgrade of the other parts on your PC:

  • New video card, power supply upgrade

Currently I have the Hp Pavilion p6754yand I recently GeForce GTX 560 it to upgrade my current video settings, so I can play my games in more graphically the parameters. Sometimes, however, computers would be turned off randomly, and I came to the conclusion that I would need to better food then one I had when I came to my computer.

So basically, my question is that the Rosewell-RD450-2-SB would be clear enough to power my computer with the included video card, or I could do better.

I hope that you have considered the special depth of this power supply? It is longer than the current unit. You have the additional thumb between the CD/DVD player, sheets, wire harness and the old PSU?

Here's an upgrade with the Rosewill 630W continuous, who still has the depth 5.5 ".  Your added almost an inch. http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817182200

  • Need advice on the graphics card for a6319fh

    Hello

I have a Pavilion a6319fh with the original 250w power supply. Now, I have a core 2 quad Q9400 installed and want to upgrade the integrated video card so that I can play PC games, such as cod, Cyrix. I was wondering what type/map (I think a 256M card) allows me to do this without the power upgrade.  Any notice are appreicated. Thank you.

Replacing the power supply is probably more important than the update of video card. This will better allow further improvements - memory, additional disks, etc... If you're a gamer...  I would try to find a 650w Psalm you can find them for ~ 65-100. If it is too stiff - 450w are ~ $25-30.

  • You will need to update the video card in my hp a1240n.

We have an integrated video card, but I need graphis better to play better games. Can I install a geforce 8400 gs?

    Wisterial, welcome to the forum.

Yes, you can upgrade to a PCI (NOT PCI Express 16 x or AGP) 8400 GS.  You have only three PCI slots.  Now for the things to consider.  You should check the power of the power supply unit (PSU).  You can do this by opening the case and by reading the label on.  The 8400 GS I found required a minimum of 300W.  If your PSU is equal or greater to 250W, this one would work.  Most of the manufacturers overstate the power necessary for the performance of their cards.

There are many PCI cards available, but they are not very good for the games.  If you buy one, you should consider switching at least 2 GB of memory, too.  Crucial is a good place to buy it.

  • I have a TravelMate 6592 G and you need to replace the video card.

The original card is ATI Radeon X 2300 - H, which is no longer manufactured. Can someone tell me what the map is compatible now?

    Hello

Unfortunately, you have a discrete graphics (Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT) on the motherboard.

This means that you need a new motherboard. It is not a graphics card for this model.

  • Need advice on the "turn card effect".

    Hello

I would like to make an effect with a graphic of the postcard the half of the screen in overlay to my video in the middle of the screen. After a few seconds, I want the map revolves around and show the back.

What effect would you use for this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Ulf

    I would use a "simple 3D effect.

It requires a little work with the key image corresponding to the "point of transition" between your two images.

Each image is on a layer different vidoe.

The transition point is when the two images are edge (front edge)

That's when the two images are a thin line

  • Video card: driver Windows 10 required for the video card Part No.: 5188-4289

    Hello

My computer which is built from individual components suddenly upgraded to windows 10 by himself. Now the screen is not good and I tried to change the settings but, the display is even worse. The graphics card that loaded is Microsoft base display adapter. I don't know the name of the video card in my computer, but it has a sticker that says "HP part No.: 5188-4289. Anyone know the name of the video card and if there is a driver 64 bit Windows 10 for him.

Thank you two for your attempts to fix my problem. Unfortunately, the driver makes no difference, so I will need to replace the video card.

I was completely happy with the way my PC has been implemented with Win7. I am not happy with the problems that caused the upgrade to win10. In addition we have all lost so much time, not to mention the expense.

  • Advice to upgrade the video card on a6460t

I have the Intel 2 Quad CPU @ 2.5 GHz, 4 GB of RAM.  I just got Microsoft Flight Simulator software & it tells me I have to update my current video adapter (Intel GMA 3100) to something that is DX10.  I understand that I must keep in mind power, type of available locations & size of the Board of directors when I update.  It's WAY over my head...  Can someone give me some ideas of what the video card upgraded to?  Something under $110?

    Hello

This is a form oflink to your motherboard .

a PCIe X 16 video card is what you need.

Anything on this page should be sufficient. Just look at the specifications to ensure that the card is DX10 compliant, they are all under $ 100.00

Try to buy only a great brand. (ASUS, XFX, Sparkle)  They actually have web support. I can't guarantee any video cards. They all use reference chipset design approved and provided by ATI or NVIDIA as the case may be.

Upgrading to a power supply 500W-400 is a good idea. Corsair and OCZ make great PSU. Search the ATX12V v2.2 because this means that it will be all required cables and connectors for video cards available at the modern more (at this time).

    Kind regards

  • Cannot install Windows 8, assuming that its due to the video card... Need help!

Hi all, I'm terribly frustrated today. I think the video card, a brand specifically 6450 marked as a 7450 here, is at the origin of the problems. The pilot was a mess and when I updated and restarted windows 8 (using the stock drivers) then updated after hesitating to Windows 8. After I restarted my computer, windows 8 has been roasted and I couldn't access what anyone, I had to do a recovery install. I wonder if there are any suggestions as to what I can do here, would like any advice! Nick

HI there - don't know why I don't post the model (h8-1227, a Pavilion), but regardless, the issue was not the video card.

    It's a seemingly simple, innocuous add-on I've used for over 2 years.

Never heard of the Asus AI Charger?  It is used to help to "mount" the power to the USB ports on a computer, allowing an iPad draw enough power to recharge in FACT.  It has been a great feature to my computer.

However such, it killed my first USB 3.0 ports, completely.  I would like to install the HP drivers and the USB port will work until I rebooted, then it stops.

I completely misunderstood this as something that might have been originally, but here, I looked at the USB ports in the Device Manager and saw the tag HAVE charger which they are attached.

Something SMALL, simple as it seems, is what was causing all that headache and frustration.  I probably lost more than 20 hours trying to solve a problem this stupid thing caused.  I even ended up buying a new video card, guess THAT's what the problem is here.

What's happened is that the only TWO things I have installed in the computer were the new drivers for video card, Office and the charger HAVE stupid!

Sometimes the simplest things are the most stupidly frustrating things!

  • Advice on upgrading the video card in Studio 540

I just picked up a used Studio 540 and was looking to upgrade the video card without having to buy a new power supply. I do a few games.  Anyone would be able to advise a good card that works in this machine? My budget is $ 150.  I was leaning towards a Sapphire Radeon 7750 brand or possibly a 7770 like this:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814202011

    The specifications are the following:

    Studio 540
Core 2 Quad Q9400 clocked at 2.6 GHz
    8 GB memory
    Hard drive 500 GB
    power SUPPLY 350 watt PSU
    1680 x 1050 resolution

    Thanks in advance.

You always have a pretty decent system with Quad CPU and 8 GB of memory.  I love the Sapphire of HD7770 you have connected.  As long as you have the PCIe 6-pin power cable on your 350w unit, you should be fine.  It's going to be the best that you can get without taking account of an upgrade of the power supply.  I say go ahead because the 7750 HD is not that much less and the 7770 HD will be best for the games.

It is not possible to upgrade the video card in your laptop, as it is physically soldered to the motherboard and for all practical purposes, is not a replaceable component.
