The problem is that I can't get my pc running on Windows 98 to recognize the mouse.

I'm trying to set up an old pc on which my autistic son of 4 years can play educatioinal games, but the computer is equipped with Windows 98.   Even, I went to a store deals and got an old mouse.  I thought it was a compatibility issue and it is still possible, but it recognizes my new keyboard without problem.  Suggestions?  (Please?)  I would even upgrade to Windows XP, but I don't have it.

Hello

1. What is the brand and model of the mouse?
2. If so a mouse USB and then you try to use different USB ports and check?

Windows 98 has reached the end of life support, as shown here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/support/endofsupport.mspx . This may actually be a problem with the hardware on the system (it is possible that the port may be bad). If you want to upgrade to Windows XP, you can try to look online for a possible way to get Windows XP.
