the reduction of highlights below - 50 increases the brightness!

Hi *.

just noticed a weird effect with a particular photo: by reducing the highlights below begins LR - 50 to increase the brightness. The highlights slider works very well from-50 to + 100, i.e. the highlights is cleared up by moving the cursor to the right and dark by shifting to the left. However, when moving cursor under about-50 its increasing brightness of the highlights - very visible also in the histogram. The effect occurs only with this particular photo. For other photos, the highlights slider works fine. Has anyone observed this effect?

see you soon,

Wolfgang

This also happens to you when you have the white slider to neutral? My guess is that at some point, the beaches of brightness that are considered highlights the changes one bit and the setting of the White extreme slider back because you have such an extreme balance between the two. This only happens to me when I push the white slider to extreme heights.

    Hello Annette,.

Some possible solutions for you. First of all, you have a laptop? Many of them automatically lower the brightness and contrast settings to save battery power. And it cannot be changed in the settings of the power Plan. So stop fist is here. Adjust the brightness and contrast settings until you can see comfortably. How is the impact on the battery? It is an interesting compromise?  Note: changes made to a diet plan will be lost when you connect to the wide, unless you save the changes as a custom power plan.

Then go to Start Menu, and then select one of the programs (all must be changed in turn). For each program in the list, select properties and then select the Compatibility tab scroll down the list and tick executer run in compatibility and Mode in the drop-down list, select Windows 7. Then scroll down the list of options and select the last one, disable the display of high scale on the DPI screens. Click on apply and OK

If these two mechanisms fail, go to control panel, select personalization and select one of the themes (all must be changed in turn). For each theme, select a basic and high contrast theme. You can still select / change the wallpaper, but borders, text, etc., are individually chosen by you.

Try these approaches (ensuring that save you changes you want) and let me know how you fare. Please post back here with any specific questions or concerns about something. Its what we are here for.

I had this problem in Illustrator, when I increase the brightness on a color of 1%, it will recover to where it was. (See gif below). If I'm 90 and I type in 92% let's set it to 91% after checking again on it.

    Hello

Have you tried the FN + F7 key combination?
This increase in the brightness of the display.

How about Windows power settings management?
Have you checked if the brightness of the display is set to 100% there?

In some cases, the brightness of the display can be low in order to save the battery energy, but usually the FN + F7 key combination is expected to increase the brightness, even if brightness in power management is a lower stage.

    Hi mate,

    It's a bit confusing...
In addition, it would be interesting to know what OS you are using. Normally, if you are running OS preinstalled from Toshiba, everything should work properly.

So in your case, I would try to update the BIOS which you can find here:

    Hello

Your machine came with FreeDOS, this question is not small:

    http://support.HP.com/SI-en/document/c04746482

It uses Intel HD Graphics 4400. All the drivers for this machine should be on the following link:

    http://support.HP.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-notebook-PC-series/7771404/model/8326082

Your machine needs a driver Intel graphics high definition (HD).

You must install the Driver and Intel Chipset Installation Utility and driver Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) and restart the machine first.

After all this, you need the following driver to use the keyboard shortcut:

    Kind regards.

I have a dell latitude D600 and I was wondering how to lighten the screen so that it would be easier to see. Thanks to all in advance

    Hi Gerry951,

Please make sure you have the Quickset utility installed on the system. If not you can download it from the link http://dell.to/11XpyPA and follow the instructions to install it.

When the Quickset utility is installed, it will give a graphical view of volume, brightness and wireless adjustment. You can adjust the brightness of the LCD screen using the "fn" key combination and "arrow down", the Quickset utility will provide a popup graphic adjustment, as shown below:

  • What is the best way to adjust the brightness in multiple files using elements 13?

    Thank you!

Simple and powerful: use the ACR (Camera raw).

Depending on the power and the amount of RAM on your computer, you can now open and edit multiple files at the same time in the ACR module.
Use the menu file/open in camera raw.

Select a batch of files (say 20 to begin by)

Select all the files in the camera roll on the left.

When they are highlighted, you will notice that the ACR module shows its AutoCorrect settings. Generally the brightness of your images will already be improved.

The changes you apply to the sliders will change all the images highlighted.

Take advantage of the opportunity to refine all the other sliders made highlights/shadows, clarity, vibrance, sharpening or noise reduction...

    Tip:

What you do in the ACR module do not alter the original jpeg pixels. Only the parameters are saved, which is called parametric edition. So after this editing session, when you save the changes ('Done' button), you are able to reopen the jpeg (it will open automatically in ACR, even from the Organizer). You will be able to start editing with either:

1 - the values of the original jpeg (turn all the sliders to zero, auto or custom in the right panel).

2 - the AutoCorrect default CAB
3 - your latest changes (settings file)
4 - the session settings of most recent edition (which is useful to apply to several image consecutively).

These settings are saved in the jpeg metadata section. No need to create a version set at this stage.

Important: even if you are happy with the automatic settings default to ACR, apply a little change of your choice so that the settings are saved in the metadata section when you click on 'Done '.

You have now edited your first batch. If you use the orgnizer, you might want to "update thumbnails', which show the improvement of brightness in thumbnails. You are ready to make the necessary changes to individual files, such as cropping or sharpening in ACR. Instead of clicking "Done", you can click on 'Open' to open the file in the Editor (you can change in 8 or 16-bit). You must go into the editor to apply other changes as layers, local adjustments. you use the editor to register in any other format file or print.

For the next batch, the mounting parameters are available in the dropdown to the right (previous conversion). Open files, highlight all, select previous conversion, click 'Done '. Wait for the settings to be saved in jpeg files.

In a situation where you have 100 files JPEG, the workflow that the above is by far the fastest and most flexible you can use. Imagine you have a white balance bad setting of your camera, you can imagine the time you need by editing individual files in the editor?

  • Possible bug: Lightroom 5.7 now adjusts the brightness after cloning as a white backdrop. Ideas?

I just found this: work on a larger series of images, shot on a white background.

It is a mobile facility so sometimes the backdrop covers the whole frame.

So after I do my settings to my select I use the spot removal tool to clone in some parts of the background if necessary...

So far so good. But Lightroom then auto adjusts the brightness and contrast of...

No idea what's going on... Restart LR and the computer did not any changes.

    I'm on a Mac 10.10.3

    Pointers?

    Best,

    D.

The beach of the adjusted values of highlights, shadows, whites, blacks, clarity (at least) all depend on image content so your cloning on a dark area left replaces the range of values of the image and changes as well as cursors.

The difference is very accentuated between the cloned image and uncloned if clarity is equal to 0 and black to-100 with all the remains the same that the DNG downloaded, where all parameters are identical between the two images and the background being cloned to white is the only difference in the parameters and settings, so the Visual difference is how LR applied 5 toning of the sliders.

The problem is that unwanted background on the left is darker than the subject so it's existence or not determines what means 'black '.  It cloning of 'Black' changes that she will fix the details of the subject and affects how the highlights, shadows, white, black and clarity sliders work.

I think that toning using tone instead of these 5 sliders below curve contrast will not have this problem and I think that cropping away rather than cloning in the background, then using the 5 sliders will not the problem.

The essential is that cloning apparently happens before you tone up in the pipeline of the image and how these 5 sliders work is designed so that you will see this difference and is not a bug.

For the reference of someone else reading this, here's the default settings has been made in the two DNG as downloaded before changing Black =-100 and clarity = 0 for the side-by-side, supra.

    Hi @AgungEnvy,

Please become a member of the HP's Support Forums. I understand that you have a problem with the brightness keys and slow start and stop. I'll be happy to help you.

HP provides no driver for Windows 10 with this computer. You can try to install the window 8.1 graphics driver Intel high definition (HD). This may activate the brightness function keys.

You can restore the previous operating system if Windows 10 is too slow for the computer.

Please keep me informed of the progress of things.
