The research and moving files in the Organizer

How can I move favorite files in the menu Organizer on another hard drive LESS files tagged my name?

One way is to check a selection star (with 'and more'), then right click on the tag of your name and choosing 'exclude photos with keyword selection xxxx tag.

In the search menu, you can select greater than zero side, but there is no option to select the keyword INCLUDE IS NOT xxxx

  • Lack of consistency between the files in the Organizer 11 items and Finder (mac). Why?

I use elements 11 Organizer and editor of Photoshop elements on a mac (OS X 10.8.2).)

I have problems after I made some changes in the image folder on mac and after move/remove folders directly in multimedia. Now, there is Noah coherence between the visible folders/files in Finder/photos and in my files in multimedia.

An example: directly in the Finder, I created a new folder and moved images of two files that I deleted then. In multimedia, I still see the old structure (no new file - deleted records still includes image files).

I also have the experience of files in the organizer of items that should not exist. When I right click on the folder, the options "reveal in Finder", "Rename the folder" and "Delete the folder" are shaded out and not clickable.

I tried to refresh the organizing items, close and restart the mac - nothing works.

    Can someone help me please?

  • Organization of the wrong understanding OSX and presentation files?

I'm a former developer/project manager who comes to Mac OSX after 15 years with Linux and 10 years of Windows, and I find myself confused in how file names are presented under OSX. The documents seems to provide a list of all the documents independently rental; i.e. their location is not provided. There are tags that allow a file to be found quickly, but the hierarchy folder, subfolder... file doesn't seem to be easily configured or maintained.  Now, I believe that system developers who designed and built the operating system, which, under the covers, works great as Linux, have an intention here to leave the structure of the files for different applications, or renounce the Organization of hierarchical tags for files or I missed something quite fundamental (the latter more likely possibility).

Does anyone know how better to organize files and folders? My counter top is becomes quite cluttered with files, alias of folders and files that I would normally be organize in folders and project areas. I probably could understand it, but I think that I'm not the first to ask the question.

    Thanks for your time

The short answer is to keep all your documents in the 'Documents' folder in your Home Directory, i.e.

    ~/Documents

You will probably want to create subfolders for specific projects, as you always have. There are also a few folders with names like 'Photos' and 'Music' for obvious purposes.

I have my office as a temporary area and try to ensure that there is that more nothing at the end of the day. (Many workplaces as this rule for the offices of the real world, which is where I got the habit.)

You are right, Apple wants to get rid of the traditional tree-structure file system for users. There are compelling arguments for this security because it facilitates the sand-boxing-based application. But it is a daunting task because many people have 'project-based' work and keep everything about each project in a folder.

Among other things, Apple attempted to replace the traditional file system with 'Tags', which nobody do not know I love him. Very few people have obsession for tags files constantly and I have, on the one hand, don't trust Apple to not abandon them at some point in the future if I rarely use them.

Attempt of another, much more successful, is "Spotlight", who, on a good day, can work magically. Unfortunately, it's a little weird and does not work for all types of files.

So, I still organize my files into a tree-like hierarchy supplemented by alias. Spotlight is a nice bonus. Maybe one day I'll take like tags, but not today.

I am using Windows XP SP3, just before I drag and drop the file into another folder in my windows explore. Suddenly, he is creating shortcuts for moving file. I'm not able to move the file by drag / move the mouse, it is possible that by cutting and Paste(Ctrl+X) using the keyboard. Why?

Maybe your 'Alt' key is stuck.

Take a look at this site to remove the malware. It has some great information and instructions. It does not hurt to try more than one virus scanner (note - run only one at a time on your computer).

  • Install new PSE / uninstall old. Question of what's going on with the old Organizer and catalog files. MacOS

Currently have installed PSE10 and install PSE11 on Mac OS 10.6.8 snow leopard.

I don't understand how to download and install PSE11 and convert the Organizer.  I intend to leave PSE10 installation in place while I install PSE11 and if all goes well with the conversion would be to uninstall PSE10.

Currently, organizer of PSE10 records are currently here on my mac:

    / Users/xxxx/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Elements/10.0/Organizer

    and

    / Users/xxxx/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Elements/10.0/Catalog

So my question is what happens to the files above when you install PSE11 with PSE10 at the same time?

When PSE10 is uninstalled using the uninstall program "adobe" deleted these files?  If you want to continue to use just the new PSE11, which is the recommendation about the deletion or to leave these files if they are not removed by the uninstall adobe program?

Are there any suggestions or things I should know about this process?

    Thanks in advance.

PSE10 and PSE11 can be installed at the same time. They are independent programs.

PSE11 will install its own catalogues and invites you to "convert" your current PSE11 catalog.

A new catalog is a new catalog subfolder will be created at the same level as the old catalog.

If you agree to the conversion, the old catalog (where the name of the folder catalog) will be renamed with the suffix-1. It will work with PSE10 without any intervention on your part.

The new catalog will acquire the same name as the old catalog.

You can work with PSE10 or PSE11 with their own catalogues.

You know if a catalogue record is on version PSE10 or PSE11 when you use catalog for the conversion Manager. You can also watch inside the catalog folder and look at the name of database catalog: catalog.pse10db or catalog.pse11db.

(Keep in mind that what is modified or updated to date in a catalog is ignored by the other, this is true for the different catalogs in PSE10, the same goes for the catalogs on both versions).

If you uninstall PSE10, PSE10 catalogues are not changed or deleted. They are still available for the conversion of a later version... or if you want to reinstall PSE10.

The catalog files don't take up much space. As explained above, they can be kept for most conversions. If you have more than one catalog, only the current upgrade time is converted. You must convert the others manually via the button "Catalog Manager".

If the problem is related to a corrupted catalog, try to open the organizer with a new empty catalog.

Hold down the SHIFT key at the launch of the Organizer. You get a dialog box with the choice to start with a new catalog, or start with a different catalog and even to 'fix' the current catalog. If your organizer starts with an empty catalog, use the option 'fix' on your corrupt catalog.

  • vCenter Server - rename the config files and moving datastore

Our vCenter VMware Server (4.1.0) is a virtual machine. The vCenter Server database is stored on a SQL Server that is also a virtual machine. The configuration files for the server vCenter and file a vmdk are located on a data store and the other vmdk file is located on another data store. This isn't a problem, but the parent folders that store these files have different names and do not reflect the name of the vCenter Server VM. Also the names of configuration files are different for the vmdk file names. I would like to move and rename files vmdk my vCenter Server to another data store and all the configuration files so that the parent folder that stores all the files has the same name as my vCenter Server VM and all of the files in the folder are on behalf of my vCenter Server VM.

What would be the best way to do this? Can I install the stand-alone converter on the vcenter Server and migrate the server? I have a vCenter Server Standard license. Thank you.

as above, use storage vmotion if possible else, you can use vmware converter...

  • Deleted files still appear in the Organizer

Here is what happened. I bought the PSE to my mother so that she would not keep losing its photos. She is at the age where she can break any program, no matter how foolproof. She didn't remove the images from the camera card after you download it, it then downloaded files multiple times to create multiple copies (I have PSE has been fixed to not allow this, but it happened). So now, she passed by windows and delete each duplicate from his computer. The problem is that always duplicates appear in the Organizer. I thought that the record shows should auto update what files are actually on the machine.

Once something has been changed in Windows Explorer instead of the Organizer, you have only two characteristics of the Organizer to help you.

    • The first is the "watched folders" feature, which compares the list of files already saved to the organizer and the contents of the folder. If there are new files, you will be asked to register.
    • The second is the function of "reconnect missing files. This concludes missing files, i.e. files previously in the catalogue record and which have been deleted, moved, or renamed in Windows Explorer. It is very effective to find missing files, it can also help you to "reconnect" files that have been moved, but it can be more difficult. If the files have been renamed, you must reimport them as new files.

If you do not use the "watched folders" (I have not...), you can try to re-import manually in each folder ("get photos or videos files or folders... ') »). The good thing is that the files already present in the catalogue will not import a second time. Among other problems, the renowned, once removed from the catalog and re-imported files lose all their previous tags and attributes.

So, Yes, the organizer can help you recover such errors and it is good to know how to do (just in case), but you'll soon discover it's so much easier and safer to trust Organizer for all of these tasks.

  • Can use iCloud company separate personal and business files to select the files to share?

I run my own business (1 year) and I use all Apple devices, including a MBP and iPhone iPad 2 Air I think it's great to keep track of all my work files and standard documents, including models created in the likes of Pages.

I'm looking to use possible someone, and I would like that they have access to the iCloud deposit structure that I use to store all my files, documents, documents standard and models Admin etc.  Currently, this is all related to my iCloud/Apple account which also includes personal documents, etc..  Is it possible to create a separate business account to store all of these documents, which can then easily shared and worked on several people or a way to select the files to appear to other people?

One way to do that would be to create a second user account for the work. Transfer all your work related document here. Then create a new ID Apple and sign in iCloud. Organize your documents here. You can then sign the new employee in this iCloud account.

On devices, we should go in settings/iCloud to sign out as your dial-up between your personal files and your working data.

I use an iMac 2011 under Snow Leopard, but it can no longer print documents via my hp laserjet 2300dtn printer. Reason: whenever I try, a message appears through the PRINT icon in the Dock, read: "ERROR: has not received a Fax number. There is no fax option in the Print & Fax window in the System Prefs so I have no idea about the origin of the error message, but suspect there is corruption in the printing preferences.  So I went username/library/Preferences/com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs plist... and a file is moved to the trash. When I jump into Excel and pick up the last file used, that has been saved on my desktop, it chose upward and able to be re-registered, but if I try to view a list of files via Excel or MS Word, none are found.  Another problem is that my backup disk has got so touched.  I am concerned to recover all my files and also not to overwrite anything on my C drive in the meantime. What are the best tools to solve this problem?

    Thank you

Problem has been fixed.  I had a breakthrough last night when I did a bit of research to specific directories and found that files and directories 'lost' were just 'hidden '. I used the Windows tools to display all the files and directories hidden in the C drive and HARD drive and were able to view each of them to solve my problem.

  • moving files from music to new drive__windows external media player does not recognize the new location

to increase disk space on my computer running Windows XP, I added an external hard drive and moved the folder "my music". I would then be able to delete the folder my music in the C drive and access my music in the new car, but Media Player think I deleted all my music and my library has disappeared.

How can I move my music files to the new drive, remove them from the C drive and have Media Player still keep my library and create a new file path?

    TIA

Where exactly your playlists are located? They are always on the C:\ drive, or you also move them to the external hard drive? The default location is the My Playlists folder in my music .

Make sure that location of playlists is also in the list when you press F3. If this doesn't help, you can manually drag and drop those playlists from Windows Explorer to the WMP library.

How can I fix Windows Media Center without reinstalling Windows

I have several problems with my Windows Media Center since I moved files stored on another drive TV.wtv, although I can't be sure it was the movement that caused the problems. It is not the first time, I moved files TV registered to other readers and never had any problems before that for 2 more years, I use WMC.

Here are the problems I've found so far:

    1. the Guide listings are no longer up-to-date. I can manually download updates without error, but the ads do not appear in the Guide.

2 related Media Center system tray buttons make their appearance is no longer in the system tray. Even when a program is recording, there is no button red, hidden or visible, in the system tray.

    3. these last files no longer appear in the list of Media Center shortcuts in the Start Menu. The only item that appears on the list of shortcuts is 'TV Program Guide', which, as I said to the #1 updates any more.

    I am running Windows 7 Home Premium x 64

The processes that appear to be related to the program are running are:

    ehtray.exe
    mcGlidHost.exe
