The T410 & T510 Turbo Memory support?

I think that's what it's called.  You know, where you use an SD card or a USB memory cache extra RAM?  The T410/T510 he takes?

If so, has anyone tried it?  I have a normal HARD drive not SSD.  I can pick up a 16 GB Class 6 SDHC on sale today for $40 Canadian (about $42 or USD) and I think I might do it if it can help my system.

Thoughts?  Thank you!

Thanks for the responses, guys.  I think that peace on the Notebook Review forums (where I also posted this question) it sums up:

I think that you are thinking about two different things:
Turbo memory is a memory module flash installed inside the laptop which is anywhere from 1 GB to 4 GB. It can be used for the cache boot files and program files, theoretically improve load time as it can be read fsater than the HARD drive.
ReadyBoost is a feature of Vista and Win7 where you can plug in a USB stick or a memory card that is sufficient speed, that the operating system uses as an alternative to the swap file on the HARD drive.

Both technologies, however, don't provide you with many benefits. ReadyBoost is pretty useless if you have more than ~ 1 GB of RAM. Turbo memory offers minimal benefits that are offset by costs - money would be better spent to save for one SSD.

I think you are talking about ReadyBoost in your case: but with 8 GB of memory, it will not significantly increase your performance (although the SDHC 16 GB would be useful in case you get an SSD with a relatively small storage capacity - I use one to store my music collection).

In other words - I'm not bothering.

    Hello

What L40 do you have exactly? I asked it because the L40 would need some additional feutures in support of the Intel Turbo Memory.

_The Intel Turbo Memory supports the following Intel chipsets: _
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset family
    Chipsets Intel® Series 4
Intel® 3 series Express Chipset family
    Intel® Mobile GM965 Express Chipset

    Hello

I don't think that you need.

    http://www.Intel.com/CD/channel/reseller/APAC/Eng/products/mobile/mprod/turbo_memory/396715.htm

You have a correct SSD drive, so no need for that. It seems to me as a predecessor of the current mSATA cache on the laptop Dv6/7 Envy and TouchSmart Intel. It speeds up the laptop, but in case that the laptop has a pure SSD the mSATA or Turbo Memory is not necessary because the system is even faster. BTW: Corsair will work max up to 300Mbps because the chipset supports only SATA II connection.

  • X 200 / Turbo Memory / Win7 Pro Updater failure

Hello. I did some checking with respect to this, just can't find something that fits.

Basically I have a x 200 with 2 GB turbomemory installed. It works fine in the company stock vista, then I decided to install win7 pro on this subject.

    1. first run, I installed win7, ran the windows updates, then system update. Windows update broke. did some checking, some guys reports this Breeze system update update windows.

    2. Second, reinstalled win7, ran the windows updates until everything is done. a site intel Manager downloaded turbo memory. Windows update broke.

Neither of the two cases, no amounts of microsoft fixit not solved. second run I did a system restore and his return to life. Yay!

As fast as the win7 is compared to the vista bloatware, I turbo memory installed, and I want it work. someone has problems that they were able to solve? It's a clean install of win7pro btw, not an x 201 win7 recovery disc.

This makes me intrigued. is a particular issue on processors c2d this turbo memory Setup program will break win7 windows update? for now, I'll just avoid the installation of turbo memory program.

  • 1.6 GHz 1.8 GHz vs. benefits of the turbo memory? a/b/g/n vs a/b/g

    Three questions really...

Is there a significant difference in performance between processors clocked at 1.6 GHz and 1.8 GHz? If so, how is this affecting production of heat/energy.

What is the advantage of the hd turbo memory cache and it interacts badly with vista?

Is a comopatible n-network card as the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN has significantly lower energy consumption that thinkpad atheros card? (I read this on another forum) Otherwise, I decide that I really have need compatibility n-network because few of these networks exist.

The difference in speed is minimal between the two processors of the same generation, i.e. Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. The turbo memory benefits are realized only when you do not have a lot of ram for Vista, that is 1 gig or something. If you install 3 GB of ram (market now good enough right) the gain in speed is minimal with Turbo memory is minimal, while your 3 concert can still run under XP not the same for the Intel turbo memory. You can also get half of the allocation of memory Intel turbo using the functionality of Windows Readyboost in Vista, obtained using a fast SD card or a USB key. Wireless cards with doubled the speed of the g version N function, if you much sharing of large files wireless then of course it is useful, but if just use you it for surfing the net so I think 54 Mbps is fast enough.

  • Adding FDE drives to T410/T510

    Hi all

I need a computer laptop sharpish and want a Lenovo with a FDE drive. I can't afford to wait for the option to customize and buy, however and can not find one with EDF from a reseller, I have to buy one without and exchanging the drive. So, a few questions:

    (1) all of the Lenovo T410/T510 laptops do not support FDE disks?

    (2) if so, what are some brands (i.e. the Hitachi)?

I read through the service manuals and * suspect * 1) is the answer to Yes, but have nowhere with 2). Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Simon

Your usual choice in self-encrypting hard drives are Hitachi BDE (bulk data encryption), Seagate FDE (Full Disk Encryption) and Toshiba (formerly Fujitsu) SED (SED).  In my view, Hitachi and Seagate use AES - 128, while Toshiba uses AES - 256.  I don't think that there is a difference in practice between the two unless you have a client that requires you to use the latter.

As far as I know, this Lenovo 250 GB HDD FDE (Google UK Shopping Search) is actually a Toshiba.  See here and here.  Also, it comes with a hard drive enclosure, so you don't have to pass an exit.  It is SATA 1.5, but many readers of automatic encryption and since it is a hard drive, it won't matter anyway.  It would be my first choice if the ability meets your requirements.

    I hope this helps.

  • T500 Turbo Memory hard drive Cache.

I had my T500 built with the Intel 2 GB Turbo Memory Cache on the hard drive. I think I read somewhere (help me decide of information on the web site of the order) that it would make the faster boot process. The only way I found to confirm that it is already installed is shown in disk management as disk 0, online, Simple layout, Type is Basic, no Volume Information and the Staus is Healty (Primary Partition). While I am waiting on my W7 upgrade appears I thought try and discover how to use this option. Any suggestions on where I can find documents of reference on how to use this feature or understand how it is being used with Vista Ultimate? TIA for any help.

    Bob Helms

I answered my own questions after doing further research. For those who don't want to not pass the time here is what I discovered. This option is basically a 'Dear' flash player which is used to "ReadyBoost". Supported Vista ReadyBoost is considered lame by all those who blog about it. Support of Windows 7 ReadyBoost is a little more robust IMHO you can do just as well with a key of 8 or 16 GB and spend much less than the cost of the in-house option of Lenovo.

  • Qosmio G40 - Intel Turbo Memory issue on Windows 7

The Intel Turbo Memory does not work in my Qosmio G40 Windows 7. I tried different ways to install the drivers but only the work of the Intel Matrix Storage Console.

If I try to install the full Pakage Robson, the material remains marked as a problem in the Device Manager and the computer crashes every time he goes into mode 'sleep'.

Is there a way around this, or should I disable this feature (which was working under Vista before)? thanx

    Hello

This feature isn t so important because he doesn't make a strong performance gain, but in your case I would try to update the BIOS. Maybe it will work or let's say that the computer goes into mode 'sleep' correctly again. The latest version, you can download the Toshiba site.

What Intel driver, you have exactly? Have you tried the Toshiba site?

Im looking for memory, I can use on my Satellite A50-100.
Is it possible to expand my internal memory with a standard 1 GB-Dimm DDR Pc2700?

    Hello

I think you mean the common memory modules and memory no internal.
The A50-100 doesn't support internal memory.
This laptop supports locations memory simple towing and both are expandable.

So now for the decision-making modules support:
You can use the PC2700 DDR - RAM and these are compatible:
    PC2700 256 MB (PA3311U - 1 M 25)
    PC2700 512 MB (PA3312U - 1 M 51)

  • The Qosmio G30-10B is supported cards SD Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC)

I hope someone has the answer to this - according to the manual of the mobile computer (brick!) supports SD / IO - SD / MiniSD / Memory Stick / Memory Stick Pro / xD / MMC cards but no specific support for SDHC cards is mentioned. Anyone know the answer to that or point me in the right direction, i.e. Tools to test this?

  • What is the maximum amount of memory in a Pavilion P6020 - Win8 upgrade?

I can't find what the maximum amount of memory can be placed in the Pavilion P6020.

As it is necessary to do a re-install of the operating system supplied with the system (Vista), I would check if it makes sense to improve the Win8-64 bit system and increase memory to 3 GB to 4 or even better of 6 GB.

Currently, the system has 3 GB of memory (1x1GB & 1x2GB), the way in which he indulged.

This configuration really makes the relative system slow lately.

    Peter

    Hi, Peter:

There are several variations of the P6020.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?cc=us & DLC = in & LC = on & os = 228 & sw_lang = & Tool = & query = P6020

I think they all have the same specifications which indicate the maximum memory you can install in the PC is 2 x 2 GB memory (4 GB).

Before you "sign on the dotted line," to buy Windows 8, go ahead and start the download and it will first run an Upgrade Advisor to check your PC and report incompatibilities.

Your PC is more than likely won't be supported by HP with windows 8 drivers. My main concern would be the video card, do not have drivers available.
