Qosmio G40 - Intel Turbo Memory issue on Windows 7

The Intel Turbo Memory does not work in my Qosmio G40 Windows 7. I tried different ways to install the drivers but only the work of the Intel Matrix Storage Console.

If I try to install the full Pakage Robson, the material remains marked as a problem in the Device Manager and the computer crashes every time he goes into mode 'sleep'.

Is there a way around this, or should I disable this feature (which was working under Vista before)? thanx

Hello

This feature isn t so important because he doesn't make a strong performance gain, but in your case I would try to update the BIOS. Maybe it will work or let's say that the computer goes into mode 'sleep' correctly again. The latest version, you can download the Toshiba site.

What Intel driver, you have exactly? Have you tried the Toshiba site?

  • Re: Can I install Intel Turbo Memory on Satellite L40?

    Hello!

Would it not possible to install the latest Intel Turbo Memory on Satellite L40 with chipset 965 series?
This would negate the pre-installed Intel matrix storage control driver?

Is this something with Windows readyboost and what benefits will I have to install this software.
I think that when I bought this laptop there is no preinstalled software from Intel Trubo memory.

    Thank you!

    Hello

What L40 do you have exactly? I asked it because the L40 would need some additional feutures in support of the Intel Turbo Memory.

_The Intel Turbo Memory supports the following Intel chipsets: _
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset family
    Chipsets Intel® Series 4
Intel® 3 series Express Chipset family
    Intel® Mobile GM965 Express Chipset
    Intel Mobile PM965 Express Chipset

_The chispet must use one of the following controllers: _
Intel® ICH10R Serial ATA AHCI Controller Hub
Intel® ICH9M/ICH9M-E Serial ATA AHCI Controller Hub
Intel® 82801IR Serial ATA AHCI controller hub (ICH9R)

    Intel® Serial ATA AHCI controller 82801HBM (ICH8M)
    Intel® Serial ATA AHCI controller 82801HEM (ICH8M-E)

You should first check to see if your hardware would be supports the Intel Turbo Memory feature.

What OS you have installed on your Satellite L40?
Some high-end notebooks have Intel Turbo Memory installed, which is designed to increase the performance for the Microsoft Vista operating system.
If this Intel Turbo Memory feature is ONLY available using the Vista!

    Hello

I don't think that you need.

    http://www.Intel.com/CD/channel/reseller/APAC/Eng/products/mobile/mprod/turbo_memory/396715.htm

You have a correct SSD drive, so no need for that. It seems to me as a predecessor of the current mSATA cache on the laptop Dv6/7 Envy and TouchSmart Intel. It speeds up the laptop, but in case that the laptop has a pure SSD the mSATA or Turbo Memory is not necessary because the system is even faster. BTW: Corsair will work max up to 300Mbps because the chipset supports only SATA II connection.

I don't think that. Intel abandoned cards Robson earlier this year due to the absence of performance benefits.

  • Impossible to activate ReadyDrive (Intel Turbo Memory)-

    Hello!

I have problem with ReadyDrive - I can't allow it. In the Console memory Intel Turbo I can fill the box, but after restarting, nothing happens and ReadyDrive is always disabled. I tried different ways to work around this problem - decommissioning of the BIOS, use of older drivers, reinstalling the system. With no luck. ReadyBoost works. SATA is of course in AHCI mode.

The other problem is that when you start (after the bios before loading Vista) system stop for about 30-45 sec and wait... wait for nothing.

The problem started - a few months ago before that everything worked well. So if a system fall I see some sing as «Recovery after blabla...» "- it's Intel Turbo Memory information, recovers the system flash memory. Now he's gone.

My ThinkPad specification: T61p with Hitachi 7 k 320 drive, Intel Turbo Memory 1 GB.

PS Sorry for my bad English!

OK, not a service solution. They said, that the card's fault and they can exchange it (out of stock?), so I'll have the money back guarantee. I think that all people with the same problem have broken.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E420s + Intel Turbo Memory 2GB?

    Hi guys,.

I have an Intel Turbo Memory 2 GB. I wonder, can it be used in the E420s? I installed it in the free Mini PCIe, but it is not 'show' anywhere.

    Any idea?

    Thank you! See you soon.

Although this 'free mini pci-e' resembeles Mini PCI-E physically it is port mSATA, something totally different, you can buy mSATA SSD for the port and use it as a boot partition.

  • Qosmio G40 - infrared chipset not detected by Windows 7

I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista and found that my infrared chipset (SMSC SIO1049 SuperIO chip) does not appear in Device Manager.
According to this page, it should appear as an unknown driver (ACPI\SMCB0C0)
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd567986.aspx

The IR remote control provided by Toshiba does not work (it used to work fine under Vista). All the world had the same problem B4? How to fix you (if you resolved at all)?

Does this mean that Ineed to wait for the next update of the BIOS (my BIOS version is 2.20)?

    My computer is a Qosmio G40 PQG40 02201NCE.

    Hello

If the device is not visible in the Device Manager, not even as an unknown device, then this means that the device does not exist or was not detected by the BIOS.

Usually, the infrared receiver must be visible in the Device Manager under:
Human interface devices - > infrared receiver SMSCIR

In system devices, you should see the device consumer infrared.

Don't forget that you have enabled devices hidden sow option perhaps of Device Manager, then you might see this

    Please also check the BIOS
I'm not very well if the infrared device option would be listed in the BIOS, but you should check it m

  • Virtual memory issue of Windows 7.

I have problems with Windows 7, do not play videos on websites of third parties. Loading continues running and nothing happens. I tried many fixes and I came across this several times. Says virtual memory reallocated. Now my computer says minimum allocated is 16 MB, recommended 24668 mb, currently assigned 16312 mb. I'm just curious as to what should be my custom settings. If I enter in 16 MB minimum custom I get a window that indicates if windows errors it may not be enough to tell me what the error was if less 800 MB is used. I enter 800 MB minimum and want to 24668 maximum, but am curious to know what effect real will have on my computer. Thank you

  • Qosmio G40-127 - need windows XP drivers

    Hello.

I just got my new Qosmio G40 and I want to install Windows XP Pro / Media center on this issue. I know it's possible, but I want to know wich drivers to use in order to operate correctly. I already had drivers laptopvideo2go nvidia, realtek, and chipsetdrivers. I need webcam, wireless lan, TV tuner, etc..

Y at - there anyone out there who have a Qosmio G40-127 and made a WXP install and know where to find these drivers? I don't have not upgraded anything but RAM to 4 GB. Otherwise, it is like new.

    Thank you

    Hello

You are right. The XP drivers are not available at this time on the Toshiba driver page. I didn't find it too. Looks like we have to wait...

    But listen;
There are some XP drivers for another Qosmio series; G30 for example.
You can try to install these unique pilots because many laptops are equipped with the same features and drivers may work too.

The WLAN driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba WLan Portal:
    http://APS.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

    like driver BT:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/

The LAN driver can be downloaded from the Intel page because as far as I know LAN chip is an Intel 82566MC(Nineveh MC)

  • Qosmio G40-10 s - driver software for device has not been installed successfully

    I get a message...
Software device driver has not been installed successfully.
    Memory PCI controller... failed

Is this a problem with my laptop or software that has been loaded. Now on Windows 7 32 bit Vista

    Hi spudcam,

This means that for the memory controller PCI is no driver installed?

Well, it is difficult to say which driver you need exactly and Windows 7's official is not compatible with the Qosmio G40.

AFAIK memory PCI controller is Intel Turbo Memory module, so you would need Robson package driver of the official website of Toshiba.
Now, I looked on the page of Toshiba and guess what, it s is available for G40 and Windows 7. :)

  • 1.6 GHz 1.8 GHz vs. benefits of the turbo memory? a/b/g/n vs a/b/g

    Three questions really...

Is there a significant difference in performance between processors clocked at 1.6 GHz and 1.8 GHz? If so, how is this affecting production of heat/energy.

What is the advantage of the hd turbo memory cache and it interacts badly with vista?

Is a comopatible n-network card as the Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN has significantly lower energy consumption that thinkpad atheros card? (I read this on another forum) Otherwise, I decide that I really have need compatibility n-network because few of these networks exist.

The difference in speed is minimal between the two processors of the same generation, i.e. Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. The turbo memory benefits are realized only when you do not have a lot of ram for Vista, that is 1 gig or something. If you install 3 GB of ram (market now good enough right) the gain in speed is minimal with Turbo memory is minimal, while your 3 concert can still run under XP not the same for the Intel turbo memory. You can also get half of the allocation of memory Intel turbo using the functionality of Windows Readyboost in Vista, obtained using a fast SD card or a USB key. Wireless cards with doubled the speed of the g version N function, if you much sharing of large files wireless then of course it is useful, but if just use you it for surfing the net so I think 54 Mbps is fast enough.
