Hello

The task manager has two different views. For the display that includes menus and tabs, double-click the border of the Task Manager window.

To return to the view without menus and tabs, double-click anywhere in the border around the tabs.

My laptop started running very slowly and I can't seem to start the Task Manager. Ctrl alt delete gives me the opportunity to start that I chose, but I don't get an inactive icon in my toolbar. I had the problem with both.

    Hello

It appears when you press ctrl + shift + ESC? It seemed before? You are an administrator on this computer or is it a corporate system?

If he has suddenly ceased to be available, it's a good sign that you have picked up a virus or some kind of malware. Formal analysis in safe mode is your first line of defense.

  • The Task Manager will not open in Server 2003

I'm troubleshooting why the Task Manager does not open in Server 2003.  This is an option when I right click on the taskbar, but when I click on it it does not open.  I try to type taskmgr.exe in the command run and it says "windows cannot find taskmgr.exe.  Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. "I found the .exe in the system32 folder, but the same message appears when I double click that.  I'm currently updating the pc with all the updates of windows that I can.  I tried to go to gpedit.msc in user configuration\administrative templates\system\ctrl + alt + del options but "remove Task Manager" not was set up be it, enabled or disabled.

You have posted in forum for Windows Vista operating system. You need to display in place in one of the Server on Technet forums. The usual cause of not opening Task Manager is infection then you need to start troubleshooting with it.

Description of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 System File Checker (Sfc.exe): http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747

    Method 3:

Run the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if that helps resolve the issue.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note
: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
