  I installed Windows 8 PRO (64-bit), on my Dell laptop (model Inspiron-5520) 05/11/2012.

  Volume control you see is normal Win 8...

  He does the things you describe are not...

  I doubt it's apparent virus but... it's very probably an audio driver\program any that is defective...

  Look in the tab Services from msconfig and hide all Microsoft Services and see what remains...

  You can also view the Startup tab of the the Task Manager for a suspect...

  It could be something as simple as a pilot action which was only supposed to run once, but loads with boot every time by a malfunctioning...

  My volume seems to work very well (by clicking on the "speaker" icon and using the scroll bar touch on the keyboard to control volume. I used to be able to see a bar indication of volume on my screen, I manually used the portable touchscreen control for the volume scroll bar.

  I'll do my best to make the question as concise as possible.  This is a real new for me.

  I dual-boot Windows 7 Pro & Windows 8.1 Pro on a 64-bit computer.  Each operating system is on another HDD (mechanical).  Yesterday, a control Volume unsourced bar began to appear on each of the separate workstations.  On the DT of Win7, this bar is displayed in the lower right region and hovers over the SysTray speaker icon.  On the DT 8.1 Win, it appears in the box to the upper left, similar to where the real system volume control appears when it is called.  Each of these 'mystery ' control bars will appear - and then disappear for a period of time.  Each control bar is flooded-out for the volume level of 100% and stays there.  Right click shows no drop-down menu to display the properties.  The control rods cannot be manipulated to adjust the volume levels.  When I view the actual systems Volume mixer and attempt to manipulate the volume level bar will adjust briefly but then floods automatically save the level of 100%.  I ran my anti-virus - full system scan - all readers - update Avast for free - and malware kit & root scan - MalwareBytes - but nothing does.

  The following may provide a clue.  The last program I have installed under the two O/S has been steam 'The Orange Box'. All components have been updated.  I disabled the Steam Client to bootloader program in each operating system using msconfig/startup and restarted.  The 'mystery ' Volume control bar continues to appear in the same areas described above.  I intend to describe the same question on the steam Forum community.  Thank you all for your time.  Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  Looks like NVIDIA High Definition Audio driver interferes with IDT High Definition Audio. Uninstall and reinstall the audio driver can help.

  Unfortunately there is no firmware update for the capacitive on your particular model - instead, try the following.

  First of all, download and reinstall the utility to control the tone of HP on the following link.

  When you are finished, stop the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

  Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

• Creating a bar of the Volume control for multiple audio files

  I'm pretty new to Flash and developing a project with a series of images containing unique video clips. Each of these frameworks are accessible via a menu based all chapter in being visible straight like a regular movie. I just added the audio for each 'chapter' / framework, all of which are unique from each other. I'm having a problem with the creation of a volume control bar that affects all the sound elements throughout all the images in the control bar unique on the General interface/skin that these chapters are working on. (The control bar consists of a button nested in a clip and the action is applied to the mc. The bar/line to follow is 60px banner for a long time and control is to move horizontally while the increase reflects the increase in the volume. The original code was for a 100px line leave a tutorial from macromedia that I adjusted to be 60px banner) advice on best practices for the creation of a volume control bar would be greatly appreciated!   I have a HP1428 DV7 ca, Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit running. Recently my volume control seems to have achieved a clean mind. At first I thought it was related to HP MediaSmart, so I removed it. It stopped at the volume control bar to constantly and irregularly flashing on the screen. However, when I open the mixing table under windows I see that it is always very strange, the volume increases in fits and starts. None of the volume controls at the top of the keyboard do not work. The MediaSmart button stays on and the mute button is not the drawer of the volume control does not work either. I thought that removing MediaSmart and put it back in place, it should correct the problem, he didn't.

  It may be a hardware problem with the band capacitive itself, but about the audio, try the following.

  Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

  One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box to enable this and then proceed to uninstall.

  When finished, restart the computer and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

  The MediaSmart you make reference to the application's HP MediaSmart SmartMenu, which can be downloaded and installed from the link below - you must have at least a MediaSmart application installed before installing SmartMenu.
