Volume control applet appears and flashes WBT - mmkey.exe

original title: WBT - mmkey.exe

I am running Windows XP. Volume control applet appears several times, and multiplies in the taskbar. Sometimes I see the WBT - mmkey.exe flash applet. AVG analysis does not show a virus; Scan of Malwarebytes can't find anything. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hello

The multimedia keyboard Application process belongs to the software MultiMedia Keyboard Application or multimedia keyboard by unknown.

Description: MMKey.exe is located in a subfolder of "C:\Program Files".

There is an icon for this program in the taskbar near the clock. There is no description of the program. It is not a Windows system file. It is able to record keyboard inputs. The technical security rating is dangerous, 77% however also read the users reviews.

Important: Some malware camouflage themselves as MMKey.exe, particularly if they are located in the folder c:\windows or c:\windows\system32. Check the MMKey.exe process on your pc whether on the pest.

I suggest that run you a scan for malware in safe mode.

    Hey Prabzz,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

You can check that Toshiba is not any volume control software installed that may be in conflict with it. You can also run the System File Checker to locate missing or corrupt files that could cause this problem.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

    1. click on Start

Collapse this includes this image and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

2 right-click cmd in the programs list and then click run as administrator.

    3. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click continue

    4. at the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

    sfc/scannow

  • Abnormal activity - a volume control bar appears in the upper-left

I installed Windows 8 PRO (64-bit), on my Dell laptop (model Inspiron-5520) 05/11/2012.
For the last 15 days or more, I'm observing some abnormal activity which I do not know if it is due to a virus, malware or some drivers / registry corruption.
Whenever I open a Windows session (e.g. after reboot or out of the MODE STANDBY), a volume control bar appears in the upper-left corner & it keeps inhibition - reactivate up until I got a hit. This volume control bar is similar to that seen after that now both pressed keys (Fn & Speaker-Mute).
I took the question to Kaspersky Antivirus, but still it is not fixed. I scanned the whole system of Rescue CD (bootable) of Kaspersky and Avira antivirus also scanned the whole system using Microsoft msert.exe service. But this virus as activity does not stop.
I have observed that if the WINDOWS AUDIO service is stopped through msconfig, this virus as activity stops. But then speakers & microphone stop working.
After crossing research on various Web sites on the internet, I found a site that helped me to fix the registry of the Windows Audio service. And it has worked very well; but it lasted only 2-3 reboots. Then after that, it is indeed.

Can you please do the necessary to let me know if it is really a virus / malware or not. And the solution to get over.
    Thank you best regards &,.

    Hello

Volume control you see is normal Win 8...

He does the things you describe are not...

I doubt it's apparent virus but... it's very probably an audio driver\program any that is defective...

Look in the tab Services from msconfig and hide all Microsoft Services and see what remains...

You can also view the Startup tab of the the Task Manager for a suspect...

It could be something as simple as a pilot action which was only supposed to run once, but loads with boot every time by a malfunctioning...

    Hi Andy,.

I checked the reported compatibility list, and the game is listed as compatible.  Work in 64-bit or 32-bit Windows 7?  I will try to reinstall the game, if you did an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 recently.  If it is a new installation and does not, please visit the EA's Web site to get the latest patch for the game to see if that helps address your problem.  Let me know if you've done all that and you still have questions, and we can try something else.

  • the volume control is grayed on and no sound

I use a Mac Pro, purchased in mid-2010, with a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor, 13 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC memory, which I've recently updated to El Capitan version 10.11.4.

I had a few glitches to mail to work but got there. Then I realized that I had no sound. The volume control is grayed and the button is at MAX, but there is no sound.

I can't try to find where a control can be hidden which let me re - turn on the volume. Nobody knows what it takes to turn on the sound?

  • Broken volume control

I bought the closure zipper Sansa clip not but a month ago and everything works fine...

Until yesterday, when I went to use it, I realized that the volume would not turn upward. Inspect that closely, it appears that the volume control is broken and will not do anything but lower the volume and now is permanantly stuck on mute and I see no other way to lower or raise the volume. Everything on the player seems to work perfectly well. Its very frustrating thing that little makes this useless player.

Please let me know if anyone knows how to solve this

It cannot be "fixed". Return it to your dealer for another (if possible), or contact the Support technology SanDisk to 1-866-SANDISK (726-3475) on a replacement under warranty.

  • Re: Volume control is only

    This seems an unusual problem.
I put the volume of force I want. If there is the slightest movement of my laptop, the cursor will just downwards or upwards, in itself.

Been to my engineer who wiped everything and then reinstalled but no avail.
He said there seems to be an error on the motherboard, but it is a long and costly repair job.

Computer laptop is only 18 months old, so I expect better of Toshiba.
Has anyone else had a problem like this, and if so, it is resolved, please?

    Hello

I had a same or similar problem with my laptop U400. The volume bar jumped up and down to try to increase the volume. I read in some discussions that the volume control is digital and could it happen due to dust or debris between the sensors.

I clean it using a jet of compressed air.
I don't know if this could help you too, but in my case it helped to solve this annoying problem m

How to troubleshoot sound problems in Windows XP

For reference: no sound in Windows

  • All the sounds that are specifically related to the Microsoft system works not-missing the system tray volume control and Accessories Entertainment empty folder.

I have no volume control icon in the system tray and my Accessories Entertainment folder is empty.  I can play the sound through iTunes and VLC media player but is no longer the Player Windows Media can play CDs or mp3 files.  I have more Microsoft system sounds and the sounds of a large number of online streaming sites no longer play unless I can their route via iTunes or VLC media player.  Windows Media Player says missing codecs if I try to play mp3 files.  I have upgraded to Windows Media Player 11 to see if that would bring codecs, but without any result.

My problems were not related to the missing CODECS.

I knew the sound on my system was basically correct, given that I was able to listen to free VLC Player I downloaded to replace the Windows Media Player while he was not working.

However, the solution to my problem of noise was really simple, but the answer was just very complicated track.

I noticed that a lot of the chatter about similar problems on other forums was related to Adobe Flash Player.

I had recently upgraded to the latest versions all Adobe products on my system.  I didn't make the connection that Adobe software could affect all the sounds of Microsoft.

Finally, after doing a Google search on Adobe Flash Player issues, I found a partial solution:

    Here's an exact quote:

Very well, the problem is really the wavemapper mapping in the registry of Windows such as reported by a member of the forum.

All you have to do is to open the registry editor by going to start menu, run, type regedit, then Enter.
After that, in Registry Editor, navigate yourself in the left pane until you reach

    My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

And then in the pane, right-click and click New, select string value, enter "wavemapper" (without the quotes, of course), ENTER, enter "msacm32.drv".
    Come in.

Well, of course, it didn't work the first time. I received this message:

the Registry Editor cannot rename the new value #1. The specified value name already exists. Type another name and try again

I was puzzled for a while, until I saw someone in the forum with a similar problem mentioned that they had found a fix for this problem by granting permissions subkey. This led me to Google search for registry permissions.

After that here, that's what I had to do, and although it seems that a lot of steps, it's really very simple:

Once I had reached the drivers32 registry entry I pointed out the entry in the right pane. Mine said (default) REG_SZ (value not set). I then clicked on change on the Bar Menu and clicked on permissions on the menu drop down.

This opens the permissions for Drivers32. I highlighted at the entrance of the Administration and click the Advanced button.

This opens the "Advanced Drivers32 security settings. I made sure that I was under the permissions tab in this window. I noticed that the box called "inherit from parent the permission entries that apply to child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here"was checked. Yet once, I did ensure that the entrance of the Administration has been highlighted and then I clicked on the button change.

This opens the "permission for Drivers32 entry. I chose "this key and subkeys" apply to: falling to the bottom of this window. Then, I checked the full control checkbox. I clicked on OK.

I clicked on apply advanced Drivers32 window security settings.

I clicked on apply permissions for Drivers32 window.

Once that I had done it all a lot more entries appeared in the right pane for Drivers32 including my wavemapper entry. This is where all along; Quite simply, there is not all the permissions to do anything, including being in the registry pane.

I left the registry and now all my sounds are back and the volume icon is once again in my system tray. Who would have thought?

    Hope this helps someone else.
