  I recently bought an access point of the Aironet 1200 (AIR-AP1231G-A-K9) series and the initial setup - IP configuration on the AP, the installer does a SSID and turn on the radio.

  I used my laptop to connect to the SSID that I created, but to my surprise the signal strength of my SSID was only 2 bars and sometimes 1 bar and I'm within 2 feet of the access point. However, the speed of connection/signal quality was varying between 24 Mbps and 36 Mbps.

  Yes, that's correct. There is no internal antennas on this model of AP.

  You need at least one, preferably two antennas of the same type for each radio. If you have the old 'A' radio with the paddle antenna, then you only need one or two antennas of radio 2.4 G.

  My wireless router has been uneven, since my cable company installed a new internet cable modem.  I powercycled several times, downloaded the new firmware, rebooted and still have problems.  Lately when I finally get on the internet with a wireless device, the signal is very weak.  It is low on my iphone on my Mac laptop and also on my Samsung Bluray player.  Lately a window never ceases to appear when I'm watching netflix who says my bandwidth is too low, even if he works very well for 2 months.  Is my router obsolete?

  I've had my Toshiba Equium A300D - 13 X for a few years now. I also have sky ADSL broadband for a few years. My signal from the router (netgear) until a couple of months has been very well. The router is located in my hall, and I use my laptop mostly in the lounge which is through a wall, 3 or 4 meters. Strength showing on the wireless icon in the tool bar used at least 4 or 5 bars but now the best I have is 3 bars force and my connection is variable with Web pages take longer to load.

  If anyone has experienced this? Could there be something wrong with the internal wireless antenna?

  I just updated my OS (10.1.0.4181) a few days ago. Then I noticed abnormalities. First of all, my phone has become weak signal. I can't access the internet as fast as I had before the upgrade. Then, my bbm notification alert keeps lighting even if there is no incoming message. I tried to turn off bbm as part of management of the hub, but it's still lighting.

• Airport Time Capsule: Suspected of weak signal

  I have 3 Apple wireless devices all. The main router is the ATV, followed of an Airport Extreme, extending the network and a former Airport Express, also the extension of the network. Briefly, it is a three-storey house, on the first floor of which is a daylight basement (windows and doors on three sides), then the second and third floor (all wood of the frame).

  I'm almost completely Mac/Apple-centric (my son except for the PC game), there are 6 Mac (PPC and Intel) and 4 iPhones on the printers network every day, matching, smart TVs and casual with a device visitors or 2. Generally, there is no connection problem apart from the complaints unfounded. There are a variety of El Capitan, Yosemite, Leopard, OS 9.2.1 and iOS operating systems. Computers are my MBP to 2008, two MacBooks circa 2010, 1 iMac (circa 2010), 1 lime iMac 400 has PPC G4 MDD and iPhones - 5s and 6s (2 of each).

  I studied this weak signal suspected by the search for possible answers on the internet, try to use various applications to diagnosis Wi - Fi and browse the various parameters of the airport. I was not able to "find" a smoking gun or even a reason suspected for the signal is so poor. "So poor" refers to my dissatisfaction with our signal coverage - my expectation!  It is perhaps as good as it gets and I have too wait.

  I'm not the most scientific. To drive off the coast, I don't understand why there are 4 WiFi signals reported. 2-5 Ghz and 2 to 2.4 Ghz. "The only basis ' creating a wireless network" is the ATC, the other two are "the extension of the network. There are 2 reported BSSIDs and I forgot how to determine who is what hdwr.

One unexplained is when I get out the MB to the gym, the signal "through the roof" - it probably doubles in strength, and that's where the Express is maybe 60' of ATC. Sounds good, but why, when I go back to ATC, the fact the signal drop in half. I want to Express signal overall. I guess the Express to be the weak link, but of course does not appear like this. My main computer, the MBP, sits 15' and at glance of ATC and gets that weak signals - I guess that it could be the Airport card in the MBP, but I'd like to think not, that I have no way to test it. I'm sure that all this has to do with the 4 signals being broadcast and the differences between networks 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz.

  So, why is my best farthest signal from the router (ATC) and why is it the MBP of low signal (MB too), the nearest router. Oh, I have no neighbors to 500' or more. Sorry for writing a book.

  When you extend a wireless AirPort network using intermediate connections wireless base stations, it is important to understand how fundamentally. So please forgive me if I go to the places you already know.

  By default, each of your simultaneous dual band base stations provide actually two wireless networks; one on the 2.4 and the other on the 5 GHz bands. Base stations extending each of these repeat if they are in the range. Note that the higher frequency band (5 GHz) would have a harder time penetrating objects, such as walls, ceilings, etc. and it is basically only usable in the same room. I'm guessing what to do in distance between base stations, the extreme is able to expand both networks, but the Express (especially, if it is a model of generation 802.11n 1) extend one or the other.

  For routers to Apple, the BSSID is the MAC address wireless base station itself.

  I understand that your wireless network has a short range of signal and the signal is weak, even if you sit close to the router. Even if you've tried a few troubleshooting you have not been able to overcome this difficulty. Assuming that you are running Windows, have you checked the updates? You ran the Windows troubleshooting tool? • Media Center cannot detect the CBS signal

  When I connect my antenna directly to the TV, I pick up CBS (channel 19-1) live without any problems, but no matter what I do or I place the antenna, when I connect the antenna to my dvr PC, Windows Media Center does not detect any signal of CBS and the intensity of the signal never changes.  All others, the stations/channels are, even those from Akron, who are believed to have weak signals.  I tried to add a new channel 19-1 with the frequency provided online, but WMC will not let me create another channel to 19-1, indicating the number of the channel is already in use even when the original channel is deselected. I have a friend in the region, which also runs a PC dvr and he says that he can not get CBS via WMC or another.

  Any ideas?

  PS. The PC dvr currently has Windows Vista, but I intend to upgrade to Windows 7 in the near future.

• OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z force very weak signal

  For some reason any our printer is not connecting to our network now.  He worked until this morning.  I'm not aware of all that has changed. The test print network said that the Signal strength is very low.  The printer is sitting 6 feet from the router wirelessly with nothing between them.  I tried to turn in all directions.  I know that the signal from the router is good because I am currently connected wireless to the router (on the opposite side of the House) and the signal is Excellent.  The router is u-verse from AT & T Wireless.

  Understand what has changed.  We have enabled mac filtering a couple of days to ban the device wireless to a person access to the Internet because being grounded from the Internet.  When this was done apparently the printer also stopped working.  We had to manually add the mac address of the printer in the list because it does not automatically get added as all other devices in the House.  Now I know what it means when it saids FAIL for the number of filtering on the wireless test print.  Given that we have not tried to set up the printer, we do not pay attention to the message of PAHs in the upper part of the printer test page, saying that he could not set the printer since the MAC address filtering can be enabled.
