Didn't know that it was possible to lose this shortcut, kind of reinforces my doubts about it like a BONE...  I don't use it myself so no help to restore this shortcut SE (doesn't know what it would take to link to, nor exactly how you go about adding shortcuts to the start screen)- but if I remember correctly the keyboard shortcut for show desktop is (Windows key + D).
