    Hello

.AVI is a container file and the audio/video and now in which can be encoded with any codec available. Windows Media Player supports all of these default codecs. Therefore, a separate codec must be installed for this purpose. Trying to play with the existing code may crash the application.

My windows media player 11 does not work properly

whenever I go to open a video with it, it appears on the taskbar, you can here the sound, but the player himself does not appear on the destop

I tried to reinstall the drive, and I get the same thing.

If I go to roll back the player, add remove programs say it has been restored, but the media runtime in Add Remove programs won't disappear because it says that windows media player 11 is always there.

    Help

    Hello rockys_rod,

To fix it, simply remove your old library files. Then have Windows Media Player find your new files. It will not destroy your music files.

How to get WMP to re - index your music:

    1. close Microsoft Media Player.
    2. click on Start and then run
    3. in the box, type the following:
    [list] %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player

    4. click on OK and a folder containing your library files will be displayed
    5. delete all files ending with .wmdb
    6. open Microsoft Media Player
    7. press F3
    8. Select the addresses of your music files
9 WMP will re-index your music.

If this does not help, try the FixIt in the article below:
KB Article ID: 947541 -Windows Media Player stops responding after you install a third-party product that registers its own version of the Wmp.dll file

Please reply back and let us know if this can help.

I copied the 2 files to a DVD movie and he changed the .m2ts file format and it is not supported by Windows Media Player.  How to convert files in a file type supported?

    Hello

The files have already been burned on a DVD and therefore cannot be converted. However, you can download and install third-party codecs to play .m2ts files.

  • My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video.

My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video. When you try to play the video (usually an avi file) I get audio and visualization. I tried to uninstall and install new, but does not. I chose also to all types of files media player by default but video still does not play.

An avi file is simply a container that may have different types of files in it for video and audio.

You probably don't have the correct Codec to play the video.

Either download a codec pack such as K-lite or download a little program called G-spot, open it and drag your avi file in the center of the small window of G-spot.

It will then tell you what Codec uses the avi file. You can then Google that particulat Codec, download and install it.

    See you soon,.

  • When I copy a CD in Windows Media Player 11 does not apply media information.

With the XP sp3 operating system, I rip the CD purchased and Windows Media Player 11 does not apply media information. Either he gives and error saying that it cannot be done because I am not connected to the internet while I'm connected, or it can recognize my internet connection, but I have to do a manual search and manually apply the name of each track, even if they are present and order under each line I have to click to match the name of the correct track.

It's so frustrating to have to fight manually for applied information on the media which is clearly presented, and after all, album art that shows correctly in the finder info media constantly refuses to fill in the library and I have to go to a separate Web site and copy and paste it in. Yes, he found elsewhere on the internet, with the help of the connection which was present all along!

It's crazy, the info is already there! And why do I go online in any case the info is in the CD? This doesn't seem to be a problem with the previous players. Please provide a fix for this useless, frustrating dinosaur, waste of time, a process!

  • Why not Windows Media Player 11 does not recognize w4a files in the library list more.

I have Windows XP Pro (SP3) with Windows Media Player 11. I had a virus wipe my hard drive (everything has been updated) and after reinstalling and updating everything, it no longer recognizes the w4a files, but it automatically plays them the OMP 11 if I click on the file in Windows Explorer.

Before the accident, all the files on my computer w4a was included in the library. Now the entire albums, as well as individual songs are missing. In fact, now NO w4a file is listed. So my question is, why does Windows Media Player 11 recognize the w4a files?

    Neil

    Hello

Method 1: I suggest you try the steps from the link below and check if it helps.

    a. close Windows Media Player.
    b. find the file of database on the computer that contains the entries of your library. In general, the library database file (CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb) is located in the following directory:
    (Drive :) Users/xxx(the user name)/Appdata/local/Microsoft/Media Player
    c. right click on the file and then click Rename.
    d. rename the file by changing its file .bak extension.
    e. start the player. When you do so, a new database of library file is created.
    f. press F3 on your keyboard to open the add to Library dialog box search for computers.
    g. click the Browse button to search for a folder on your computer that contains digital media files. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.
    h. click on the search button.
The player will search for digital media files and playlists in the folder you specify and add to your library. If you have your files and playlists stored in different folders on your computer, you may need to search for files several times, by specifying a different folder every time.

    Method 2:
You may need to rebuild the database of Windows Media Player.
    Here's how:
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.
    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    d. restart Windows Media Player.
Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows Media Player 12 does not work after you choose the initial settings

    Hello
I tried to use windows media player 12 on my computer laptop windows 7 and it won't work. It worked the first time and I chose my settings, but it would not open the player itself. I tried to do it on the guest account, but it's the same thing. Does anyone know how to fix this? -Chris

My post was actually in response to JRTLOVER:

Why we cannot uninstall and reinstall from the CD just Media Player... or is there a way to fix this?

I have seen that it was already proposed earlier in this topic, my apologies.

Regarding your problem, have you tried to launch directly executable WMP? To do this, click Start, type wmplayer.exe in the search box and press ENTER.

You should also check if WMP is already running: start the task (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) Manager, look for one or more elements called wmplayer.exe on the process tab, select each item and then click end process , then try to start WMP again.
