ThinkPad E540 USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 win 7.1

I just bought the E540. Running to Win 7.1. I have 2 WD Passport 3.0 drives connected on a USB 3.0 hub. The 3.0 hub has the right cable for 3.0. They are not recognized as 3.0 devices (I get a message). I updated the USB 3.0 on the lenovo site driver and BIOS is set to auto.recognize. I also tried the 3.0 option in the BIOS, but that did nothing. I also tried to use the disks without the hub in one of the USB 3.0 slots, but that did nothing either.

I checked the forum, but what I found was perhaps buy a 3.0 cable (not required - my cable is compatible 3.0) but it was for a Wn 8 system or the update driver device 3.0 (done).

So much for plug-and-play.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finally understood it. The USB 3.0 hub that I bought (made in China) did not have enough power for my Western Digital USB 3.0 drives. I bought a powered best hub and all my disks are pretty happy now.

who should be on the right, once you have unpacked the software, make sure you go the c: drive, then swtools and then drivers and install from there.

    This is unfortunately incorrect.

  • ThinkPad E540 drive optical sata port

    Hallo,
I would like to know the interface type of the sata optical drive to a ThinkPad E540 port. It's a sata I, sata II or sata III?
    Sincere greetings,

I hope this will be useful to other owners of an E540.

  • Impossible to create recovery USB Drive After Win 8.1 pass on Lenovo Twist

After the upgrade to Win 8.1 and try to create the recovery usb disk, I get this error:

"We cannot create a disc of reccovery on this PC. Some required files are missing. To trouble shoot startup of your PC problems, use your installation window or media disc»

Can some give me a clue as to how to solve this problem? THX.

I contacted Lenovo who sent me a series of 4 recovery disks. These drives solved the problem, but it meant wiping the hard drive and reinstall the same thing from scratch. A new recovery partition is created and the disc reinstalled Win 8, which was to be updated. So to win 8.1 can be installed. Now, everything works as it should.

  • ThinkPad E540 camera does not work

    Hello

I recently bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E540, with Windows 7 installed. I am trying to use the camera with Skype, but I can't save any picture. When I try to install the driver for the built-in camera of Lenovo support, (http://support.lenovo.com/en/downloads/ds001073), the installer always fails with error messages Engrish. Any ideas that I can do to get it working?

The issue apparently resolved itself. I think I had tried to remove a part of the software pre-installed Lenovo computer, and which had caused the driver of camera integrated to remove properly. After all these configurations and then running by restarting my computer, Windows has installed the generic device drivers and now everything works fine.

  • Card memory ThinkPad E540. Which one to buy?

    Hello!

    I am owner of a 00HFR of 20 6 E540 which came with a card memory made by Samsung (4 GB) (4 GB 1R8PC3L - 12800 S-11-13-B4 M471B5173 EB0 YKO 1432 says on the label)

I would like to increase the amount of available memory, but the cheapest way. So I have a couple of options if I'm not mistaken:

Buy a 4GB module pair with the existing, for a total of 8 GB.

Buy a module of 8 GB for a total of 12 GB.

If I'm not mistakent, the option are possible, but the 8 G module will be less good preformance over the same module size in both slots.

    I have a few questions:

Which module should I buy: Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, G. Skill? (Here is the brand my dealer sells)

I would be very happy to get a P/N for options 4 and 8 GB.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and response.

I'd say go with the configuration 4 + 8GB. Any generic 8 GB DDR3L 12800 S should work (avoid even if Corsair; there were a few problems with it and ThinkPads in the past).

I recently installed WIndows 7 Professional 64 bit on my laptop and now I can use my WIFI & some Usb Ports,

    Please help solve this problem.

Product name: HP ProBook 4530 s

    Hello:

Here is the link to the usb3 controller driver...

Since it can be a lot of different cards installed in your model series wireless, I'll need to view the ID of the hardware for the network controller so I can know what model your laptop wireless card has.

Go to Device Manager and click on the device named network controller.

Then click on the Details tab in the upper part of the window network controller.

Now you should see a drop-down list of property and it will be by default the device description.

On this list and select the second element (Hardware ID).

After the first string of characters you see in the window.
