ThinkPad Edge 15 slow CPU during battery

With this laptop, the CPU usage increases significantly when the battery is charging. If I am on runs on battery or it is fully charged, I don't have this problem. The CPU remains at 2-3% while browsing the internet, for example. But while the battery is charging internet browsing will send the CPU up to 90-100%. It is not just internet browsing, but any task, such as Sony Vegas running, using Skype, watching a movie, etc.

Yet once again, this only happens if the battery is charging. Everything works well, a lot more slowly. All power management settings are the same, whether it is running on battery or charging with the AC adapter, so it isn't that. I'm also using the AC adapter 65 w provided with the computer and the adapter would become very warm to the touch while charging. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi again, nitroxreaction

I scoured the forums and was able to find another user having the same problem with the same machine. Unfortunately, the thread is never come to a conclusive end, but a mod, topmahof, had a good idea. If possible, it would be a good test to use a 90W Adapter to recharge your system and see if the problem persists. The 90W Adapter is available and sold for your system, so there is no danger in using one. If you have a friend who has an or just a spare lying around, it would be great if you could try it.

Best,

Adam

  • ThinkPad Edge E545 overheating CPU

I just got my new E545 and started. I noticed that the CPU is very hot and then ran a few tests of software. It is to show the CPU temp around 92 degrees C/196 degrees F.

The chip is an AMD 10 - 5750M. I guess that heat is not normal. Should I send this warranty return?

  • Battery Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 (0217) problem

    Hello guys,.

Because I couldn't find a solution for my problem, I decided to write here, hoping that someone (by a team from Lenovo or users) have the same problem and therefore can help me.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 model (version 0217). (I bought from a friend, because he didn't deliver more when I decided to buy it.)

I have problems with my battery. The design of this capacity is 62.12 Wh, I used it wisely, so it was not always charged to 100%. I always unload down around 5-7% and then plug the power adapter. (See image).

My first problem is that during the last 3 months, the capacity is down to 45,88 Wh and I can't really understand why. This can be a generic problem with the battery?

My second problem is - for which I found another topic here, but it did not help me - that when I charge the battery, stops at 99% of load, showing "3 minutes is remaining" and if I disconnect and reconnect the adapter, it stops like 99% saying have completely loaded. In the battery maintenance, I changed the settings to "always fully charge' Custom, but still, it won't charge the battery fully.

My third problem is that I have updated the BIOS of my laptop a few days ago, and when I try to search for an update of the firmware battery or when I do a battery meter reset, the system shuts down suddenly without any warning or something else.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me with this, I like really my laptop but it really bothers me...

    Thanks in advance.

    (1) so that you must have used it a bit and then, under the charge cycle is at 234.

  • Problem of CPU ThinkPad Edge 14

    Hey

So I had my Thinkpad Edge 14 since the end of last summer.  I keep putting it off, but now it has got to the point where I have enough of him.  Here's my problem:

I connect my Thinkpad Edge 14 in the charger, which is obviously plugged into an outlet.  Usually, it is while the system is still working, but recently I tried to l ' first.  Now, about 1-2 minutes after I plug the laptop, the processor begins to FREAK OUT.  I put Rainmeter in place so I can keep track of my RAM/CPU/network and others.  So my little graphic of my CPU starts to spike and it goes from 0 %-> 26 %-> 0 %-> 78 %-> 100 %-> 0% and so on and so forth.  This does not happen over time, what is happening at all times.  The CPU just guard jump and fall.  It's killing my performance.  Everything becomes nervous and slow.  Opening a folder or my browser (which should take 2 seconds, if that) now takes about a minute.  Before, I could just turn off my phone and turn it back on, no problem.  Now, I disable and turn it 3 - 4 times and it is always jumping so I just let it stay there until the machine is loaded.  I got used to load just from one day to the next just so I don't have to deal with in the morning.  I don't have any idea what the problem is or how to stop it.  This has also nothing to do with going to Task Manager and ending a few process.  I tried and it does nothing.

I hope someone can help me with this problem because I have not seen anywhere.  I looked through the Lenovo Web site and got nothing.

  • ThinkPad Edge E330 WiFi turn off

    Hello everyone

I have Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330. I run on Ubuntu. Laptop was connected to the Wifi thw and was on the sector without battery. When I put the battery unplugged AC and portable opend my wifi stoped working. It is said: Wifi is disabled by the hardware switch. The problem is that this model does not have any material pass over her body. I tried a lot of things:

    -Load default in BIOS

    -Reinstall Ubuntu completely

    -Search in ubuntu forums

    Thank you for the help

    Hello elFilipko,

exactly the same thing happened to me today and it's how I managed to fix it:

    1. I downloaded four Windows drivers as described here (tthere first of all one of the links is not active more so I downloaded this driver in its current version of support.lenovo.com - Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8).

    2. I installed all the drivers on my Windows 8 (I have dual boot - Win 8 and Ubuntu).

    3. after restarting the computer and reboot back to Windows, I pressed F9 to enter parameters related to a Wi - Fi (you may have to press Fn + F9, depending on your settings). After pressing this button, a small window with the parameters related to a Wi - Fi should appear in the middle of the screen (as far as I know, this special window appears only with the version of Windows 7 these drivers, so it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall versions of Windows 8 drivers in my case). In this little window, I disabled the plane and WiFi mode on.

    4. after step 3, it seems that nothing has changed, but just after the restart of Ubuntu, the Wi - Fi was on and working.

I think a similar solution might work in your case also, just install Win 7 or 8 Win and try it.

    Best regards.

  • ThinkPad Edge E540: Compatible memory

    Hey,.

Is there a memory compatible with Thinkpad Edge E540 list?

I want to get either Crucial or Gskill, but don't know what games of these manufacturers module is compatible with the E540.

In looking at DDR3 1.35 and 1.5V memory sets with 2 x 4 GB sticks

Just a reminder that you must use 1.35v memory with CPU Haswell (ix-4xxx). HASWELL will not take 16 GB sticks.

Other than that, anything DDR3-1333 and above should work.

  • Driver needed XP for Ati Radeon HD 4250 (Thinkpad Edge 14 - model 019923u)

Hello, I have downgraded from Windows 7 to Xp and I have trouble finding the driver for the video card.

The laptop is a Thinkpad Edge 14 - model 019923u.

Does anyone know the correct driver for this model?

    Thank you

Try DRIVERMAX. I had a PC that had no XP drivers. This program found and installed the drivers in XP and had it work. What it does is find a driver for this type of Board/CPU/GPU/webcam/USB card or sound.

Here are the directions out of my head that I remember best:

    • 1 when you load first it (after it index and askes register you), place the mouse on driver downloads and information, click on start the drivermax agent.
    • 2 loading the agent to ensure that its on the 2nd tab updated. If the (part your will install) shows here then select it and then click Download. Click on the 2nd show updates for only selected updates option.
    • 3 now it will go to the site and show you the pilot/s available. I always choose the driver top list. Click the link to download next to her. Click on continue free user. Make sure that you opened with drivermax and not save on the pc.
    • 4 it will then download and let you know when it is ready to be installed. Another thing if the driver (for what your need) does not appear here, then click on the identity of unknown material below start the agent on-screen main drivermax. Then do the same to download and install it.

There are also clips Youtube how to use DRIVERMAX. See you soon! Hope this works for you.

  • Windows 7 future re-setup on ThinkPad Edge

    1. Will there now be a version of the preinstalled version of Windows 7 on one of these, because after trying to have a glance using Explorer, it is not clear that there is?
    2. The rescue CD & recovery has a pre-launch and a startup folder, but Windows 7 there?

  • Problem installing Windows 7 on Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817

    Hello

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817 without an operating system and be able to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (msdnaa version). I actually had the Thinkpad even before and managed to install Windows 7 withouth any problems.

After starting from the USB stick during installation without hard drive is located. To this end, I insert a second usb key with drivers for AMD AHCI Controller Device Driver for Windows 7 and select the directory of win7 64 bit. A driver to install is offered, but after installing it, it seems as if nothing happened. No disk is detected, and I can't continue the installation.

    thx for the help

(by the way, the proposed here spell check does not recognize "Lenovo" - * lol *)

I saw this happen occasionally during installation via the USB port. In my experience, it is when a USB 3.0 or eSATA/USB combo port is present. It does not occur if start you it from a Windows existing, nor happens during the installation of optical media.

There is something that includes ImageX that you can use to install Windows, but that gets a little complicated.

  • Size of hard drive bay for Thinkpad Edge E430? and vs SATA 300 600

I'm looking to get a bigger hard drive for my Thinkpad Edge E430, and I have two questions.

The current drive is a Toshiba MK5061GSY - SATA 300. This is 0.4 inches high. I'm looking at a WD Green WD20NPVX - SATA 600. It is high 0.6inches.

    1. What size is the HARD drive Bay? Fits in a drive that is 0.6 inches in height?
    2. A disk SATA 600 is backward compatible with SATA-300 port?

    Thank you.

Ivy Bridge CPU in the E430 supports SATAIII (6 Gb/s) for the main hard drive and the optical drive Bay.

The height of the E430 hard drive Bay suitable for 7 and 9.5 mm (do not know what this amounts to in inches).

  • Diablo 3 with - ThinkPad Edge 15 (0301-GTG)

Hello, I would like to know what kind of graphics card is in my ThinkPad Edge 15 (0301-GTG)

It's Intel 3000 graphics or something else?

    How will I know?

    Thank you

    Barak

    Hi again,

The way I read the specification, it is not a graphics card in your machine.  The graphics are part of the CPU chip.

GMA HD is the best that I can get to so far.  The details are in this Intel link I posted.

I see a few references on the interwebs calling it a 5700HD.  Cannot be verified until now.

    Sorry,

    Z.

  • ThinkPad Edge not charging WITHOUT REASON APPARENTE

Hello! I have a ThinkPad Edge 15. He had a problem loading the day I bought it. The people I bought it returned to IBM/Lenovo that apparently tight area where the charge lead goes to the PC? (I'm obviously not PC literate, sorry!)

That has NOT fixed the problem, so when I got my laptop back, I called LEnovo, they sent me a new battery (even though I told them the "Power Manager", said the battery was in good condition) which did nothing. Then they sent me a new charge lead, once again - nada. They sent me a box to return the laptop to them. As I find how to put the laptop in the box, I looked more @ my PC and this is; shone the light that tells you if he is in charge! I never returned - it was last August.

Last night. I looked @ the loading icon; 15%, no charging current!" Oops! Oh dear, not again! I went to the power manager, everything is fine. All my connections, same verified. Darn it all. I have a business. that is 90% SEARCH! MY PC DIED on me. I called Lenovo, they said - send it us.

I still had the box since last summer, then he is out. I left the laptop plugged in my thoughts only, something might happen like last summer! HA! This morning I find how to pack, I watch over @ cell phone & guess WHAT! He has been in charge, the light was on. I lit and has right on this Forum to ask questions of you wise and knowledgeable people!

First: I did what I thought, it was a decent amount of research before buying this laptop Lenovo. (I thought I was buying a ThinkPad Edge E520 - but that's another story) I really thought that "Lenovo" products have a good reputation. Yet, when on this Forum, I read a lot of posts on the problems of charging with the Edge series. What is everything? I buy another computer soon, but is reluctant to even look @ a Lenovo. If I had a case opened last night, I would have been freaked out! This is not acceptable! Lenovo has a good rep, or not?

Second: What happens after my warranty expires in five months and it is ALWAYS the case? Is this PC a lemon? I've had a few laptops, and I have NEVER had anything that gave me as much hassle as this! My friend as a 15 years old song VAIO, which must NEVER, not once seen any problems! It has Windows Vista, same! 15 YEARS, not a single bump on the road! I got this SEVEN month, and if you add up, it's more than once a month! ARRGGGHHHHH!

Third: If someone can make a good argument for staying with Lenovo; I need to look @ your desktop all-in-one or small. I used to say 'battery' has been my need to #1 to a computer, but now I realize that the 'reliability' is my requirement #1!  Maybe, a PC will be fast, one will be reliable? Sounds like a plan to me!

I apologize for the length, and for my "evacuation." I hope that I didn't say anything, I should not have? TYVM for me to be on this Forum. You guys ROCK!

    Hi eefacm,

So whenever you're ready to put the computer in the box, it starts to load, it seems that it is really a physical connection problem.

It looks as if there is a loose wire, something may have slipped out of place and could be postponed.

I recommend that you go ahead and send in your unit, regardless of whether it begins to load before you place it in the box.

There is none of course say until you send it and let the repair depot look at him.

  • ThinkPad Edge 14 does not charge

I have a new problem with my laptop (ThinkPad Edge 14; 0578A 25) where the battery is.

I have not had a problem until recently, and I don't know what caused it.  Here are the changes that have occurred since the last time I know, he has been in charge properly.

    Before noticing not battery

    1. Update all drivers Lenovo and your software by "Lenovo - update and drivers" in the control panel
    2. Noticed the new 'battery Firmware Update' in the power manager which was not in the old version.
    3. Utility of BFU said that it is up to date

After noticing the charging of the battery has not been

    1. Uninstalled Power Manager and driver Power Manager, reset the management power and rebooted the computer
    2. Still not charging the battery, so I downloaded the wrapper battery to update the firmware on the Lenovo site and ran it (says firmware is up to date as well)
    3. Reinstalled Power Manager and driver Power Manager
    4. A ran a battery meter reset, but he would not be executed (battery was not load to full capacity, so my problem again)

I don't know what else to try or where to go from here.  Is there anything I can try, maybe a way to reload the firmware to try to reset.  I don't want to have to buy a new battery when it was working fine until I used a Lenovo utility that obviously broke something.

    I HAVE THE SOLUTION!

I turned off my antennas to my resources and find the solution.

Appearantly, when everything, updated the driver loaded before Microsoft update is not compatible with the new updates.  So, here's what you do to remedy this:

    1. Turning off the computer completely (Shut Down, no standby or Hibernate
    2. Remove the levels, leaving only the AC adapter for power.
    3. Starting in "safe" mode
    4. Open Device Manager and expand the section of the battery.
    5. Remove all the drivers except the power adapter (right click and click on uninstall)
    6. Shut down the computer.
    7. Reinstall the battery, leaving the power adapter plugged as well upward.
    8. Turning on the computer as usual.

Marvel at the fact that the battery is in charge now.

I7 - 620 m is the highest, you can go, but I don't know if that would help you or not. Since the increase in performance of the i7 arrandale is not that much compared to the arrandale i5.
