Most likely a PowerOn or supervisor of the password. Solutions are unfortunately limited to the two below:

  1. Check if the former owner remembers the password, or check if it has documented it somewhere

  2. Change the motherboard

  • Shaky video: scroll & Menu problems on Thinkpad SL510 laptop Windsows Seven 64-bit computer 2847CZU

    Hello.

I have a nearly four year, laptop Lenovo Thinkpad SL510 2847CZU Windows Seven 64 bit with 4 Express Chipset Mobile Intel graphics which has developed a problem with scrolling and pulling upward from the menus.

For example when I put the cursor inside the Accuweather radar map that zooms automatically everyone. Also when I try to pull up a menu inside a page it flashes but will not come to the top. The same thing happens when I right click to display a menu.

This isn't a problem with the Chrome browser. It also occurs in the pages of Start Menu and the Device Manager property.

I can control that a little bit by using the CTRL key, but not in all cases. Scroll the entire page generally works very well even if there are earthquakes.

I did the usual things to try to solve this problem. Uninstall (and reinstall) the graphics driver didn't work because the problem was still there with the VGA mode. I searched a stuck key or other problems with pointing devices, but the arrow keys of the keyboard are the same image.

I tried an external monitor and finally to load a live DVD Linux, but these attempts did not lead to a solution.

So far, it's just an inconvenience, but it might stop me from doing the things that involve a large number of menus.

I hope someone can solve this problem. Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the products of Thinkpad.

    Best regards

    Ron

Have you tried disabling hardware acceleration for the web browser? It fixed for me in all scenarios.

Alternatively, you can try to force Vsync.

  • Problem with the graphics drivers in ThinkPad SL510

    Hello guys.

I have a ThinkPad SL510 with Intel Pentium T4500 @ 2.3 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. It currently uses the Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics, which is very slow and even Counter Strike 1.6 has frame drops each time only and then. So I visited the page drivers for SL510 and there is a driver graphic AMD listed that will allow a card ATI Mobility in the laptop. But the problem is that I have download the package and it does nothing. It installs only certain ATI Catalyst etc. but none of the graphics drivers at all, my laptop always uses the base Windows XP ones.

Any suggestions? I want to unlock the ATI card so its possible since its going to be better for the play of light.

    Thank you!

It's the original of your SL510 config

    ThinkPad SL510 2847-BTG
    T4500(2.3GHz), 2 GB of RAM, HD 320 GB at 5400 RPM, LCD 15.6 in 1366 x 768, Intel HD graphics card, CD-RW/DVD-RW, Intel 802.11bgn wireless, Bluetooth, 1 Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, camera, 6 c Li-ion, Win7 Home Premium 32

You have only Intel graphics, install drivers ATI will simply not work since you don't have any ATI hardware on your laptop.

  • ThinkPad SL510 does not load

Look's like if I had a big problem:

(0 first sorry for my English)

    1. when I plug the charger in to my lights SL510 lit. If the batteries are out - computer laptop is impossible to market;
    2. If I plug the same charger to my second (old thinkpad r60 - lights turn on and everything starts normally).
    3. I take charge of my second laptop and test on SL510 - lights is still running is not on;
    4. If I try to start without charger (on battery) laptop works very well.

Is it possible that - when my battery I can't turn on my laptop?

[Solved] Earlier I have resolve my problem. I try a lot of crazy things to do work - focused on google and duckduckgo. So my laptop 'understand' the charger after:

    1. I remove the battery and unplug the power source.
    2. I remove RAM;
    3. Press the power button a few times 1-2-3 seconds of time
    4. Press the power button / stop for a half minute

(also - looks like in the management of the power of this laptop is some trigger that on the blackout, can escape broad 'space' - so all you need is to reset to 0)

  • ThinkPad SL510 Trackpad problem

    Hello

I use my sl510 laptop for quite awhile now and I had this problem in the start as well. However, I searched and installed some drivers and it solved the problem. A few weeks ago, I installed windows 7 64-bit ultimate and the problem started. It drives me absolutely crazy and I can't focus on typing.

    This is what happens:

I type something, and I'm a writer if someone can imagine my typing speed. and all of a sudden without reason, the cursor is elsewhere and my words are typed here. For example I have write here on this line, my cursor will automatically, go to the 1st line and start typing there. It drives me nuts and its very frustrating.

Please help and let me know of any drivers that must be installed.

BTW the shortcut, Fn + F8 or F6 keys does not work.

Let me tell you all what I have installed.

On the net looking for solutions and pilots, I've traveled around.

nothing worked so I was quite frustrated.

then I found a forum and he talked about some MOMENTUM driver to trackpad.

I installed and there is a new icon in my control panel.

This program/setting/driver allows me to define what I want to do with all the many buttons, I have in the trackpad.

and to my surprise, an option is 'none '. I now chose this option for all buttons and now have no problem at all.

  • Wireless can not be activated; SL510 Windows 7

I have a big problem with my Thinkpad SL510 Windows 7.

Everything I try, I'm not able to activate the wireless card. When I diagnose the network connection, it says somethink like "the device is not active or not installed. However, the device is correctly listed as 'Intel WiFi Link 100 BGN' in Device Manager. All windows updates are installed, and the Lenovo Update Manager displays only an update optional (Intel Chipset driver for Windows 7) that gives an error when you try to install it.

A strange thing is that when I use the command "ping 127.0.0.1" in the shell, only 1-2 out of the 4 tent give a result, others show a time-out error.

More, the device works properly with a disk of Linux Live, the material seems to be ok. It does not work with windows 7.

Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm desperate...

    Thanks for your help...

    OK, I found the solution.

There seems to be a problem with the firewall and Windows 7. So I just uninstalled the firewall, installed the WLAN driver again and now it works...

    Strange, but ok...

is it possible to use 2 external DVI monitors? The graphics card is capable of that? Or can I replace the graphics card to activate it (I don't think)? USB 2.0 to DVI adapters work?

  • SL510 what ram to upgrade should I choose?

Hello everyone, I hope I found the right place where I could get help.

My SL510 is a model of 2847 and it is running Windows 7 Professional x 64.

I hope this info is useful because I don't know how to check which processor and Chipset are exactly installed on my laptop (maybe you could suggest me some freeware I can download to check?)

He is running with a single module 2 GB pc10600 DIMM, but if it run slow when I run several applications and then I would upgrade my RAM.

    These are the questions:

-What is the maximum RAM I can install on my SL510 (4, 8 or 16 GB)?

-What is the fastest level ram I can install (pc10600 is fair or is there more quick?)?

-for example, if the authorized maximum memory is 8 GB, is it better to install a single module of 8 GB DIMMs or a 2 x 4 GB dimm module?

    Hi Maripierotti,

    Welcome to Lenovo Community!

We have understood that your query is about to experience the maximum RAM supported for ThinkPad SL510.

According to the Lenovo system supports up to 8 GB of RAM maximum. And regarding the bus speed is DDR3 1067 mhz, it's better if you use 4 GB X 2.

Please click here to see the full specification on this.

    I hope this helps!

  • SL510 noise problem

    Hello

I do experience audio dropouts at regular intervals on my new Thinkpad SL510 running Windows 7. The problem occurs mainly when I run a DJ (Traktor Pro) software in combination with an external audio interface to high-speed (Audio DJ 4 or Numark DJ iO). However, I've also known some dropouts running just Winamp on the internal sound card.

Now, the problem goes away when I run Windows in safe mode, so I guess some driver is at the origin of the problem. I tried to disable anything I thought I could safely in Manager devices, including:

    -the battery

    -the DVD player

    -the card reader

    -Bluetooth

    -network adapters

    -Audio, video, and game controllers

Nothing did. Disabling USB ports is not possible with the external interface, but it doesn't seem to be the problem anyway because the USB ports work in safe mode as well.

What else could I try to disable or do to fix the problem? Any help would be much appreciated!

Go to MSCONFIG, disable all startup items. Then go to the Services tab, check hide all Microsoft services, and then clear all that is not essential to the start-up (none of them should be).

Reboot and see if it still falls.

  • Slow start almost nine SL510! :(((

I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad SL510 laptop brand a few weeks again. Out of the box, he started up and run EXTREMELY fast & there was no problems. The only problem was that them were not "Lenovo/Thinjkpad' drivers such as hotkeys etc so I had to track, who was not a big deal. Apparently at random the computer now has started a strange process at startup. Directly after that the image of "thinkvantage access" Lenovo appears after you press the power button, a command line comes with the white screen and command prompt flashes for about 60 seconds. Maybe a little more or less, but of course it feels like eternity. It is never used to do this. After starting the computer quickly starts and runs and works as usual with no noticeable change in performance. The computer does a cold start but also a restart. I crossed and uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers that I read in another post that might help. This does not alleviate the problem and I hope someone more knowledgeable than me can help. I read that a Windows repair installation could help, but as I am new to Windows 7 via this computer I prefer not unless necessary (I'm still a mentality XP lol, the new user interface is always sticking with me , so I did not to I would try all other options first.) Thank you very much for your time and help!

The solution: after I made my "recovery disc" I left it in the drive and it comes to the issue with slow start, as he was reading the disc (late I know I left it in the drive). Sounds was this: right click on the volume icon, open "volume control" options, under audio devices, check the box with the speakers. I don't know if this is checked in the ever and the speakers worked in any case, or if mode 'sleep' unchecked it. But since I checked it no problem sleeping and my laptop just had a good hour 10 sleep lol XD. Thank you SO much for all help I really appreciate it. I know that in my Google search others had similar problems so I hope it helps others in need.u

  • Unable to connect to the network of 5 GHz N SL510

The laptop can connect to the network when it runs at 2.4 GHz, but when I slide to 5 GHz N-network, the laptop does not see. I use Lenovo cordless tools to connect to find and connect to wireless networks.

    Thank you.

    Hey, @sumukhreddy!

I'm really sorry to hear about your WD drive problems. However, I recommend you to use Data LifeGuard Diagnostics from WD (DOS version) to test again and check on the health and the SMART State it. The DOS version of the utility will allow you to perform diagnostics without having to boot into any operating system. You should be able to find under downloads by product once you select WD Caviar Blue.  You can extend the WD software link and follow the instructions.

The drive is OEM and most likely came with your laptop, so I recommend you to contact the manufacturer and check the warranty of your laptop. It is always covered, you can RMA and they should be able to provide a repair and the implementation of the defective material.

Good luck! I hope I've been helpful! :)

  • Windows 7 Explorer and drag / move icons to reposition.

I'm having a problem with the Explorer of Windows 7.
In Windows XP when in Windows Explorer, I am able to select pictures and miniatures, tiles or the icons and then re - position file icons in the pane of files by left clicking and then dragging the icon to the position I want. I can't find how to do this in Windows 7. I am very visual and I need to be able to move the file icons that I work with them. Alphabetical sorts do not work for me. I think that this feature exists since at least Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP. I am able to move icons on the desktop to any position, I want to use the drag and drop method, and that's what I want to do in Windows Explorer.
Any help is welcome. Thank you.
I tried going through the help of Explorer in Windows 7 and can't find anything to help me. I also researched on the web a vast nothing helps.
