ThinkPad T-61 BIOS

I access the bios Setup, but can't make changes. I made the changes as IN. password and by activating the security chip, but now I can't select all the options. It's almost like his in a lock mode. All advice appreciated.

You're probably a supervisor password on your machine.

  • ThinkPad Tablet 2 BIOS: I can't change the list of boot devices. Help, please!

    Hello community,

I need to restore Windows on my ThinkPad Tablet 2 via USB. But I can't change the list of boot devices in BIOS. The F12 option is not available. It is said: "F12 key is used to call a pop-up the boot devices list. This option is available only when supervisor enters setup. »

    What can I do?

  • ThinkPad Edge E530 BIOS

I've updated my (initially Windows 7 equipped) Thinkpad E530 to the latest version of the BIOS version 2.55.

    I also installed Windows 8.1 x 64 on it.

My question is: can I use the "OS Optimized Defaults" in BIOS or not?

In the BIOS install descriptions, it is said to use the optimized default OS on a pre-installed Windows 8 (x 64) machine, and to use the ordinary default values on a Windows 7 preinstalled machine.
But my computer was a machine 7 pre-installed, but is now running Windows 8 x 64. If the default values should I charge?

    Kind regards
    Psycho

    Hello

    Thank you for your reply,

To use the system with "Default values of the optimized operating system", you have reinstall the Windows 8 operating system after allowing optimized OS default "values. If you change the format of disk partition HARD operating system will not work.

I hope this helps. Post back if the problem persists!

  • ThinkPad W701 - deleted BIOS, USB/Esata mysterious problems before update

    Hello

Yesterday I was supposed to tto try my new external drive esata, I had previously used with my EX495 homeserver, without any problem.

But when I connected to the W701 it seemed that the connection has failed and the drive fell to sleep when I tried to write for her. When I used USB it worked perfectly and with the esata Server worked without a hitch.

After trying some time, I decided to try the lacie updater and then a reboot. After that, all ports usb failed.

I had already watched the Lenovo updateprogram and found some updates, so I ordered the computer with the trackpad and updated, but when the computer suddenly restarted and screen shows underscore flashing and that's it. After that, the screen went black and no longer lights.

I it for 4-5 weeks now and after 1 week the Mo failed when defining new ram and has passed, there is now not yet - is there anything I could to, or should it return service?

I did not help - Lenovo replaces the MB, at least this start.

  • How can I update the BIOS without using a CD?

    Hello!

I recently decided to update my RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB. After installation, I started my computer to find that it would not recognize the new memory. After doing some troubleshooting, I decided to try to update the BIOS, like the 2010 version. I have downloaded the update to the BIOS boot CD implementation of lenovo, burned a disk and restarts, I found that the boot order has no CD contained thereon. Here's the catch: I do not have the supervisor password. It is a mobile phone in hand, and I tried to find the password nothing is done. It's the current boot order: USB key, hard drive.

My question is, can I create a BIOS update disk using a USB key, or update the BIOS of another way?

I understand that it is impossible to recover the supervisor password without having served (that I prefer to not do, even if I have to return my Crucial RAM)

    My system features:

    ThinkPad L512

    BIOS version: 1.04

    BIOS date: 2010-3-26

    Controller of Embeded Version: 1.01

    Windows 7 32 bit

    Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to the forum!

    Two things here:

    (a) If you run the system update, it should offer the latest BIOS for your machine as well. I never did on a protected device, so it may or may not work, but perhaps worth it.

    (b) I doubt the ability of the system to recognize the new RAM has something to do with the BIOS. Much older than your ThinkPads will take place 4-8 GB of RAM with an old BIOS, older than your machine initially.

    Good luck.

  • Latency Wireless Windows 7 64 bit

I was struggling with a strange problem with openvpn on Windows 7 64 bit wireless.  Performance is very slow and my ping is very high on the openvpn from Windows XP Win7 wired connections and wireless connection.

This seems to be a problem with the Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN wireless card.  No update firmware is available from Lenovo or Intel for the card.

Average ping latency is 30ms WinXP vpn wired as well as Win7 wired and wireless.  But going to 130ms + Win7, connection Wi - Fi!  This translates into a remote session which is like working in molasses.  Walk through code in Visual Studio on a remote Windows 7 machine when computer on a wireless connection so much lag time, it becomes unusable.  To connect remotely on a wired ethernet or Wireless N WinXP is so sensitive that sitting in front of the remote computer.

Seems that my MTU is optimal for my internet connection.  I tested and found that 1480 is the minimum size package where I can ping and return a response "packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.»  So I leave my MTU to 1500 on cable and wireless on Win7 machine.

So far I have (I think) excluded the following:

Firewall - the two windows and to the router - have turned both without effect

Antivirus - no change with it disabled

Configuration of the router - put the laptop in the DMZ and no change

MTU - tested 1500 as optimum

ThinkPad drivers and BIOS - all the latest

Everyone meet problems with this Intel 1000 wireless card?

    Thank you

    Jeff

ThinkPad Edge 14 with Intel 1000 BGN NIC wireless

I had a real problem with performance on several ThinkPads with Win7 wireless until I realized there is a new (or perhaps changed implementation) setting in Win7 it affecting power.

If you go to control panel-> Power Options, then click on "Change plan settings" for your current power management.

On the next screen click "change power avancΘs."

In the next screen expand 'Wireless adapter settings', then 'Power Saving Mode '.

Make sure that it is set for maximum Performance.

You do not know if this will help your particular problem but hope.

  • Update the series/model number in the BIOS (ThinkPad 2nd Gen Helix)

Hello! I have a ThinkPad 2nd Gen Helix (model 20CG000QUS), I replaced the motherboard in (because I'm with a Lenovo authorized service depot), but I'm unable to update the series/model number in the BIOS. I tried the utilties USB and bootable diskette and nor will not work (I can't boot from either one sense). This is despite me turning off the Secure Boot option in the BIOS. When I enter my credentials for the key to maintenance/diskette, I find the download ok in, but on the page for the supported systems for this key maintenance/diskette, the Helix model I have is NOT LISTED. I tried to update using other utilities and I get the words of INVA LID, and I can only replace the "LID". So, basically, I'm stuck.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  • ThinkPad L460, cannot get the BIOS through WMI settings

We used the official instructions and VBscripts Lenovo to set up the BIOS on the laptop ThinkPad T440, T450, L440 and L450 via WMI. It worked well for a while now.

A few weeks back, we received our first batch of portable computers ThinkPad L460 (with 10 of Windows), and I went to check and update the scripts of BIOS. The first thing I tried was to get a list of all the BIOS settings, the use of the ListAll.vbs script (available from the link above) and then through the PowerShell commands listed in the PDF (skl_deploy_01.pdf).

On previous models of ThinkPad the ListAll.vbs script would return a long list of avilable BIOS settings (or "configuration items") as well as their current and possible values. On the L460 that it returns nothing, not even an error message:

    C:\temp\Script>cscript ListAll.vbs
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host versjon 5.812
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Med Enerett

    C:\temp\Script >

This isn't the same performance you'd get if you run the script not elevated command or on a non-Lenovo computer. In these cases, the output looks like this:

    C:\temp\Script>cscript ListAll.vbs
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host versjon 5.812
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. Med Enerett

    current value =
    possible settings =.

    C:\temp\Script >

I found an old net on the forum describing a similar problem and suggesting it was caused by a third-party software or a customized image of Windows, but the issue is present on both W10 Pro portable computers L460 stocks provided with images, a clean install of W10 Pro version 1511 (ISO downloaded directly from Microsoft) and images of company W10 custom of my organization.

I tried upgrading the BIOS to the most recent available (1.13). That did not help.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be the cause? We received a pretty low amount of laptops L460 so far, so it's kind of feasible to configure all the parameters of the BIOS by hand, but I prefer not having to do once the laptops start to arrive in large numbers. It is both a waste of time and error compared to the configuration script.

  • All new ThinkPad 10 has a located on the BIOS supervisor password!

I tried to do some exploring of the BIOS and found that once I started it, I was invited to a supervisor password. It's a brand new/sealed ThinkPad 10 I got 2 days ago.

Is there a default supervisor for the BIOS password? I tried (which it does not even consider an acceptable password to only submit), I tried my password user (just in case)... nothing works.

The indicator shows nothing else than a command prompt to the supervisor: with user: below it.

    WTH!

Got understood it; Although a new tablet, he had apparently been unsealed and deployment done on it and the password has been set during this process. I got the password and was able to enter the BIOS (and more important still, delete it)
