This SSD will fit in my MBP 13 mid 2012

Just got a second hand Macbook Pro 13 "mid-2012 (not retina)." The guy upgraded to a 250 GB SSD and it is simply not enough room for me. I would like to double with a 500 GB SSD. I was looking for in Samsung SSD. Does anyone know if it would be compatible with my MBP?

Also has 12 GB of ram. It has a key of 8 GB and a 4 GB stick. I would like to just throw a full 16 GB. Will this work?

Thanks in advance for you help! you are always great.

Let me discourage you to install the Samsung SSD.  There was some problems with Samsung SSD (in addition to success). noticed on these forums.  Note also that Samsung does not Mac compatibility on their web site.  I can recommend the SSD from Crucial and OWC based on my experience and that of others.

Your MBP will support up to 16 GB of RAM.  However, the best sources for RAM compatible Macs are also OWC and Crucial.  When it comes to RAM and some brands simply do not work even when the specifications indicate they should the Mac are very selective.  Ensure that the specifications are: 204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

Ciao.

  • This card will fit in my XPS 8700?

I recently bought an XPS 8700 and thought to upgrade his graphics card. I'm looking at one is the EVGA 4 GB Geforce GTX 770 here:

    http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Superclocked-Dual-Link-Graphics-04G-P4-3774-KR/dp/B00E5AEIKE/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1382478542&sr=1-1&keywords=EVGA+GeForce+GTX+770+Superclocked+with+ACX+Cooler+4+GB+GDDR5+256-Bit+Dual-Link+DVI-I%2FDVI-D+HDMI+DP+SLI+Ready+Graphics+Card+04G-P4-3774-KR

The card is listed with the dimensions of 12.9 x 9.5 x 2.9 inches. After looking at the inside of the case I am afraid that this card does not. Can someone help me with the question of whether this card will fit in a case of XPS 8700?

Either by the way, I am aware of the problems of compatibility with the 8700 UEFI and have already bought a beefier power supply for a new card.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello NinthLayer,

Dell XPS 8700 has never been tested with the EVGA 4 GB GeForce GXT 770. However, few users have installed nVIdia GeForce GTX 770 2 GB successfully on their XPS 8700. The nVIdia GeForce GTX 770 2 GB size is 10.3 "x 4.3" x double Slot. So before you buy the card, I suggest you take the computer to a local store and check if the graphics card works on the system.

Please note: the EVGA 4 GB GeForce GXT 770 requires minimum of POWER supply 600W with PCI-E power 2 connector x 8 pins.

    I hope this helps!

  • How can I determine which Intel SSD is compatible with my MacBook PRo mid-2012?

I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch Mid 2012 (not retina) and I need to upgrade my hard drive to an SSD. I've seen several like Intel s 540 and 750 series and a Crucial MX SSD. However, I am trying to identify the one which would be compatible and the best alternative for my upgrade. I appreciate the help. Thank you.

    SSD:

    MX200 essential 500 GB SATA 6 GB/s 2.5 "

    Intel SSD 540 s series 480GB 2.5 "SATA 6 Gb/s, 16nm, TLC

    Intel SSD 750 series (400 GB 1/2 height PCle 3.0, 20nm, MLC)

Your Mac has a SATA interface, so the PCIe model is not compatible, I would choose most of the three.

I want to replace the existing 500 GB "d" (5400 RPM) drive with an OCZ 240 GB drive SSD SATA III and must make sure that this laptop will support a SATA III SSD drive?

I am not concerned about the start time that you want to use the SSD for video editing, so I don't anticipate using the SSD instead of the c"" drive.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello

Well, this will speed up the startup time of your machine a lot but for editing video may not help much. In any case the SATA III (or 3) is backward compatible with SATA II (or 2) and SATA I (or 1). You're probably on the price/cost. A little program called PC Wizard will tell you the speed of the disk on your computer controller:

You can download it from the following link:

  • Replace the HARD drive in mid-2012 MBP of SSD?

Given to replace my HARD drive of 1 TB in MBP mid-2012.  This MBP has already been customized (by Apple) to 2.9 GHz i7 8 GB mem.

I'm looking for a solution at least to 1 TB also. How about this:

Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB 2.5 inch SATA III internal SSD (MZ-75E1T0B/AM)

IS it really that simple, as suggested by some video: current copy to SSD connected externally, than to go ahead with replacement? Then you can continue normal OSX updates as usual?

    Is it really worth?

Yes, I do some "prosumer" video (FCP) and audio (Logic, Cubase, Pro Tools) - and use external USB 3 HARD drive.

Yes, it was worth it. The difference between day and night.

It's easy. How to create a clone of startup

I don't know Samsung but 2.5 "is inside that you need, SATA III Yes.

but another highly recommended option is https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/lineup

I own a Macbook pro mid 2012. Now I want to increase the RAM of 4 GB to 8 GB, please suggest if this update will help me to improve my performance to macbook.

It will help in cases where the applications require more than 4 GB of RAM.  Otherwise, there will be no noticeable difference.  If you really want to increase the speed, an SSD is the best option.  They cost about 3 x's + more than a traditional HDD of same capacity...

    Ciao.

  • Aspire VN7 - 791G: SSD will not be displayed in the BIOS

    Hello

    I bought this SSD for my VN7 - 791G https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B016DR1MBE/

But it does not appear in the BIOS.

Could you tell me if I bought the right one?

    Thank you

    Mickael.

    Hello

791G does not support the is or looks like. As other people have said on this forum that the SSD will not work because is a SSD is. You need to buy one that is compatible SATA like this for example: https://www.amazon.fr/Samsung-Evo-SATA-250GB-MZ-N5E250BW/dp/B00TGIVZTW/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF...

  • This SSD is working on my HP Pavilion a6355.uk?

My OS is Windows 7 x 64. I have a disc of windows 7 with me.

I made many changes to my system, which none, I deserve to be meantioning, so I should not. I have not changed disk controllers hard etc, I always use the controllers of the Board of Directors. My diet is now a 370w.

The SSD I want is this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT128M4SSD2-128GB-M4-SSD/dp/B004W2JKZI/ref=cm_cmu_pg__header

I get it cause my Maxtor 160 GB drive becomes bad, like maxtor have a thing to do.

1 will last this SSD for about 30,000 hours without failure?

    2. the SSD will support my motherboard?

    3. How should I be informed when buying, and what I need to be aware when setting in place?

    4. is it a good choice? I might add a new hard drive controller card in the future, so I can take advantage of the full SATA 6 GB/s. However, for now, as I am only 14 and obviously not got much money as do people with jobs, I'm just the SSD at the moment.

    5. any other information will be appricated.

    Thank you!

    Good luck!

  • This card will suit my Precision 490 workstation?

First of all, I want to thank Hunter for this thread and JMichael (and all) for reactions/answers interesting and very informative!

I bought a refurbished Dell Precision 490 work coming arrived today. (yay!) The one I bought has the following specifications:

    • Dell Precision 490 workstation cases
    • Card mother Dell
    • Two processors dual-core Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz each for Total of 4 units of execution
    • 500 GB SATA hard drive
    • ATI FireGL V3350 video card with DVI output double
    • 750 watts power

I bought (after consultation with Tiger Direct) from NewEgg.com (renovated) graphics card include:

01 G-P3-1371-RX of EVGA GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1 GB 256 - bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x 16 HDCP Ready SLI Support video card

In the specifications of the card it says that it is "double slot" However, the specs on the 490 show that it has a PCI-e 2.0 x 16 slot. The guys from Tiger Direct (after looking at the specs for the 490) said he would do. So my question is - is this the case? (no pun intended... well, maybe a little )

In addition, given that the map is a refurb, it comes not with cables or CDs with drivers. I found the article on EVGA website and saw that he (originally) comes with two cables for the power - it looks like two cables of 6 pin Molex (3rd picture from the left row, at the top), it also says:

    Requirements
At least a 450 Watt power supply.
(Recommended minimum power supply + 12 volt current rating of 24 amperes).
Two dongles available power of PCI-E 6 pin

And people to revisit the issue on NewEgg.com said that they had to order power cables separated - then... I ordered two of these. Those who will work with the Precision 490 and this card?

Additional information: the 490 I bought has the following:

    • 2 slot PCI-e x 8 wired as x 4
    • 1 PCI - e x 16 graphics slot
    • 2 slots for 64-bit / 100 MHz PCI - X with support for 3.3V or universal cards
    • 1 slot PCI 32-bit / 33 Mhz

I really am crossing fingers and toes that they will work together, because even if I don't play (except SolSuite Solitaire lol) I have do many 3d work in 3dsMax, (CUDA is so extremely important!), Daz3d and also a lot of work in the Adobe CS5 programs, so I had to switch to the Precision 490 workstation (am also installation of 8 GB of RAM (4 x 2 GB each) for a total of 10) GB of RAM. Hoping it will be a monster and my models will look stunning in my pictures!

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Given that the card mother a 490, 3 PCI-E slots with the 16 X being in the Center, I would say that Yes it will fit in the slot.

If it fits the length wise or past the heat sinks I have no idea.

    Thank you

No, it does not. The Inspiron 38XX aka 3847 that did the trick.

Inspiron 36XX series is even smaller.

You can prove this for yourself by taking a rule and measure.

10 to 12 inches long not going not physically in.

8.6 aka inches 9 cards are a VERY TIGHT FIT.  10-inch cards are IMPOSSIBLE as 12-inch cards.
