Create an 'account' in Thunderbird, this time be sure to what you're saying to use POP instead of IMAP:

Thunderbird menu: Tools: account settings. Click on the 'Account of Actions' button at the bottom left and select "add an E-mail account".

Enter your name, E-mail address and password, then click on the continue"" button.

Now you will see one of the two examples that I have attached a photo here.

In the first example, you will see a 'radio button' in the Middle for either IMAP (remote files) or POP3 (keep mail on your computer). Make sure POP3 is selected, then continue.

If what you see, it's like my second example, then next entrants is a button that you can click to change from IMAP to POP3. Continue from there.

Once your new account in Thunderbird running, then delete one non-working of the account settings. Select the non-working account, click on the button 'Actions account' and choose 'delete account '.
