Thunderbird does not work

When I click on the shortcut to Thunderbird, nothing happens. But it worked before now. I tried to stop the Avast Antivirus, but it did not help so to reboot the PC.

The problem has been resolved by uninstalling Avast Antivirus software. Apparently, there is a problem with the latest version of it which had applied yesterday. In addition, it is weird that disable Avast did not help.

  • Thunderbird does not work after installing Win 10 and the mobile profile of Win 7

    I've installed Tbird 38.3.0 on a new Dell computer with Windows 10 on this (8 GB of RAM, 1 TB harddrive). I then followed these steps to put my old profile from the old computer to Windows 7:
    1. copied my profile on the Windows 7 computer on an external drive.
    2 installed Tbird on the new computer Windows 10 38.3.0, but has nothing to do with it.
    3. following the instructions on the site of Thunderbird on the displacement of a profile:

      a) Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile on the Win 10 computer.
      b) Copy the profile from the external drive to the new profile folder
      c) Use Profile Manger to tell Tbird to open the new profile
    

    4. start Tbird.

    I see my files with email in them, but there are problems:
    1. None of the Tbird dialog boxes open when I choose a command in the menu bar (including the new Message).
    2. I can't get Tbird to display the contents of a folder in the Home tab. There is only the accounts and the advanced features of the Inbox, display in the right pane, next to the folder tree. The only way to see the contents of a folder is right-click and choose open in a new tab.
    3. when I click or double-click on a folder, the contents of the file does not replace the previous folder. TBird on the Windows 7 computer, clicking a folder displays the contents of the new folder.
    4. sometimes when I Alt + Tab of Tbird, then Alt + Tab, moving the cursor of the mouse on the messages in the Inbox tab causes the message object, Date,... to disappear, leaving blank lines.

    I tried to uninstall Tbird and reinstall it, but this does not solve the problem.
    I tried to reboot Windows 10 but that does not solve the problem.
    I don't seem to be able to download email and preview in the messages pane, but I can't open it in a separate window.

    A lot of people seems to be able to run Tbird on Win10, so it should work. Any ideas on why it does not work and what I can do about it?

    I installed Thunderbird on the laptop of a friend and everything works fine and has been for a few years. However, when my friend went on holiday to a different State, Thunderbird would not work.   • Thunderbird does not work properly after copying old content profile in the new profile, what can I do

    My old laptop crashed, but fortunately I got the hard drive out, who now works as an external drive. I installed TB on my new laptop computer.     Here's the e-mail accounts for pop e-mail account. If you have several addresses on the same server, it will have the same name but an additional example:-1 appended to the name. If you got an e-mail account, it can also create and add the additional number. Why you have several, I can't say with certainty what caused them without knowing what you have done. The point being, you must have the directory Local pointing to one that is correct and has all your existing emails.

    What local directory is set to the e-mail account?
    "Tools" > "Account settings" > "Server settings" for the e-mail account
    bottom right under "Local Directory"
    It will say something like this:

    Copy paste the info on this issue, so I don't know which e-mail account you use.

    How many email accounts you listed in the left pane in the account settings? You have just the one pop email account and local folders?

    It is advisable to use the Inbox folder as a mailbox for incoming mail, and not as a general storage. Suggest you create folders and move all the emails in the Inbox in other appropriate folders, then right-click on Inbox and select "Compact".

  • Thunderbird does not work - very disappointed

    I got to play a sound when I receive e-mail in my regular Inbox. It does sometimes, but most of the time it isn't. I just need to check from time to time to see if there is any new mail it. I can't respond to mail important timely for this reason.

    Second, it ALSO randomly plays the new mail sound when mail is received in my trash. I use filters to direct messages from low priority to the trash. I don't want to know what mail goes, this is the folder I want to check from time to time and do not informed of mail is received it.

    These two issues are completely random.

    I think it is (or is supposed to) when messages arrive in your Inbox.

    Given that your filter is on the Inbox and moves the messages selected in the trash, these newly arrived messages have already triggered the new mail indicator.

    I don't like noisy computers and my speakers are almost always muted, so I do not use this module myself, but the add-on ToneQuilla offers the possibility to play specific sounds depend on filtering. This might be able to give you a silent moves to the basket and could improve the success rate of play wanted noises.

    What platform do you use i.e. Windows, OSX or Linux? Linux in particular seems reluctant to make noises on the mail either.

    I have found the answer - default (why?) I was connected as administrator and therefore was not seeking the e-mail account of my wife in the same way as it would. The search in all the files and directories of profile TB, I found a test directory, where TB was given to me. Do not know what other tricks that I solved the problem, but it is all working now.     My Thunderbird has turned into a pigeon feather-less in the last days.

    It does not at all most of the time. If I restart the PC (Windows 7), it will start sometimes.

    Even if started, the only way I can see the contents of any folder is to right-click and 'open in a new tab '. Then, I can see the content but can not respond to anything.

    The tab 'Get new Messages' works, but nothing else on the work of the toolbar at all. Aid does not work.

    Another recent problem is Thunderbird does not connect with the server. I don't know if sent mail will go out, but I know I'm nothing receive. My internet connection works well for FF or another browser. I checked my settings and they seem OK. I checked the default settings in Win10x64 and they are correct. Any ideas?

    Although windows 10 is new for us all. How do solve you. I have other solution with very similar issues.

    If you do not see 'Tools', then you do not have your active 'Menu Bar'.

    • Give an appropriate file name and click "create a folder".

    When the Inbox is empty:

    • Logon to the Web e-mail account by using a browser.
    • Move all emails "Sent" in the "Inbox".

    In thunderbird:

    • Click on 'Get the message'

    all the "Sent" emails must get downloaded from the server Inbox anto your Inbox in Thunderbird.

    • Then move all your emails in the 'Sent' Thunderbird folder.

    You should now have all these emails downloaded from the server and display in Thunderbird.
