  If you use Outlook Express, this is a common problem. You have apparent dbx file corruption.

  Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and then create new folders to send and sent items box after having moved the messages you want to save to a local folder that you create.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

  With OE closed, find the DBX files for the items in the Outbox and sent and delete them.  New ones will be created automatically when you open OE.

  After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

  Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

  General precautions for Outlook Express:

  Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages.   Get the error message saying "some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks.  Please see the list of errors below for more details".  There is no error displayed messagees.  The tab tasks, there is a warning in the status column with no description.

  This only happens when you send an email with an attachment.  The message is then placed in the Outbox.  I checked that the message has been sent and received, but the message does not in sent items.  Outlook express keeps trying to send the message.

  My Surface has too little disk space to refresh it.  Find the problem, it's a large file of emails and attachments that have been deleted, most of the months ago.  This file is located in C:\UsersName\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\LiveComm\ here is a 16 file number & letter.  Open it and then open the folder "120712-0049" and the file open the "Att".  In my case, this file uses about 4.5 GB of disk space.  Most of these files is empty, or contain a weed, often an image.  No problem on my desktop, but it is on my Surface.

  Can I delete old files from here?  Is it possible to prevent it from keeping files and attachments, especially the pictures of this file?

  My Surface is of 8.1, but I recently updated the desktop of Windows 10.  I don't think that's the problem, since this was done only a few weeks ago and most attachments are several months old.

  the issue of date picker: I just found an interesting thread on the old Interakt forums where some users obviously have solved it by editing the file "includes/wdg/classes/Calendar.js" and here by changing the value of the "btnAttributes" javascript variable (which, by default, generates a standard button) so that the MEASURE will make a type of image - button.

  Extra large many of you know, beat us to this topic to death on MSNewsGroups, but nothing helped.  The cause of this problem is now clear, if there is someone left there who gives a hoot.  Unfortunately, the solution has not become clear.

  For this reason and several other problems, I have reformatted my HD and not reinstall a clean with my original drive - WIn XP IE6 SP2 OE6.  After getting the essential working again, I sent and received e-mails with attachments jpg without problem.  JOY!

  Then I reinstalled IE8.  Talk about any progress - I can no longer receive e-mails with attachments jpg, nor can I make IE8 understand I want to Google for a Home Page.  Goinig back to IE6 did not change the problem.  Once IE8, I'm always unlucky.   But I have my homepage back :-)

  I post this as a matter of interest for other care of some people who, if any.  If you do, you have my sympathy, but that's all, because I don't have a fix.

  Thanks Steve, I should have been more clear.  My (re) install disk was IE6 SP2 OE6 WinXP.  As soon as I was running, I went right to SP3 and IE8 and could not immediately receive an e-mail with an attachment jpg.

  And Ben, the short version is any e-mail sent to me with an attachment jpg never appears on my server (the message OR attachment), so there is nothing to download.  The two seem to evaporate in the "ether".  I got probably 50 suggestions on a fix; None have worked.  BTW, I just finished a very complex brochure involving many exchanges of jpg photo.  Not a single one came through.  Very unsatisfactory.

  Going back to IE6 and SP2 (which worked when reinstalled) - does not cure the problem.  I'm marking as answer because I have carped at to leave questions unanswered there.  The fact that they have not received response seems not to matter.
