This is a known bug in the last update. Yoyu know it does not affect the output. For the on-screen display the current solution is to turn on overprint preview.

  • TIF / TIFF support of import in Indesign CS5.5 / CS6

    Hello

    I can't find a reference for the limits of the type of TIFF file as Indesign CS5.5 / CS6 can support.

    for example, Indesign cannot import a TIFF file with CCITT Group 4 compression / CCITT Group 3

    I thought Indesign can support all kinds of TIFF and I was denied when I tried to import a TIFF file with compression CCITT 4 (black and white TIFF).

    "Error occurred during reading of TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible. Re-save the image with different settings, and then try again. »

    Can anyone confirm this import TIFF CCITT Group 4 and CITT Group 3 compression is not supported (and Indesign can only import TIFF LZW, ZIP support or no compression) (Honours)?

    It seems odd that Indesign adjustable CCITT Group 4 as a format of compression to monochrome images in the PDF export options export but does not support in its import options. Am I missing a plugin/update that can do this?

    Also, can someone point me to a list of graphic images that Indesign can import (preferably with detailed information that he may have subsets that are not supported)?

    I can only find " " http://help.Adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/CS/using/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6bdea.h tml ".

    Thank you

    Beyond the information provided by Steve Werner...

    It is true that Photoshop cannot save an image on two levels (i.e. single bit monochrome) TIFF CCITT Group 4 compresses (or group 3-compresses).

    However, Acrobat Pro can save PDF as CCITT Group 4 compressed TIFF Group 3

    And I confirm that InDesign cannot place a CCITT Group 4 or group-3 compressed TIFF image.

    Ironically, Photoshop can open TIFF CCITT Group 4 compressed files but when simply save even saves TIFF compressed into ZIP files.

    So, the quickest way for the placement of your CCITT Group 4 TIFF files compressed in InDesign is to simply open and resave the TIFF files in Photoshop.

    Yes, a hack villain, but it allows you to work around this limitation.

  • Extra character notes in InDesign - don't know why?

    Hi people, newbie on the forum here.

    I work on a document of long duration with InDesign and am having a strange problem appear. Im still relatively new for the software so I hope its just something caused by my small scope of knowledge and there is a twist.

    I placed my text from my Word documents on the InDesign problem with notes. Everything is as it should be-except that for some reason, there is a "1" before each citation reference. No idea why this is. They are not demolition ravages or anything like that - but it looks weird and seems a bit confusing. Initially, I thought they were referencing the chapter number, which would have been nice, but it's the same '1.' through each chapter notes. They are not selectable, so I guess it's sort of a problem setting?

    Screenshot attached. Very appreciated for any help.

    I use InDesign CC on Mac.

    Select a reference. Open the applied paragraph style. Go to the bullets and numbers > list Type and choose None. Let us know if that solved the problem.

  • I exported a .tif file and created a new folder for it. Why the file does not show in the catalogue?

    The file should show in the catalogue?

    No, the default export does not cause the picture to appear in the catalog, and it causes the folder appear in the files Panel.

    There is an option in the export dialog box that automatically imports the exported photos in the catalog, maybe that's what you want, maybe not. I rarely see a necessity to have exports included in the catalogue. Most of the people the export only when necessary for the purposes non-Lightroom, and in this case, there is no reason to keep exports in the long term, you can always recreate the exported photo by exporting it again.

  • Help to improve the Image Processor Pro Script to save transparency in TIF

    Hello world

    This is my first post in this community.

    We have a droplet which reduces the resolution of tif images at 72 dpi and save the image tif with transparency. It works very well, but it took a long time for the whole process of many picture in different folders. This is the reason why we have sought another script that can preserve the folder structure and define the resolution of each image at 72 dpi tif.

    We found Image Processor Pro, which does exactly what we needed. The script works perfectly in CS5 and CS5.5 save the tif with transparency. The tif images could be used in InDesign with transparency.

    BUT Image Processor Pro script works not so perfectly in CS6 as it seems that this option to save a tif with transparency does not exist or does not work in the script. The result is that those converted tif images are without transparency in InDesign. It is a huge problem for us.

    This is the point where I need your help. Neither I have experience yet with jsx-files or the right syntax of it.

    Is it possible for someone of you to implement / improve Image Processor Pro so it will save tif with transparency?

    We used the last German Image Processor Pro Version: 2.3.1 (link: http://www.russellbrown.com/scripts.html)

    (The German version contains only German on the texts of the screen!)

    I am very grateful for any help you can give.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    The only reason why I can invision would happen, is that they change the default behavior on what to do when the transparency option is not specified.

    The simplest solution, if you always want to have transparency with tif files is:

    Find this piece of code or towards line 3811:

         case "tif": {
            var value = (isWindows() ? ByteOrder.IBM : ByteOrder.MACOS);
            var str = fsOpts.tiffByteOrder.toString();

    Change to look like this:

         case "tif": {        saveOpts.transparency = true;        var value = (isWindows() ? ByteOrder.IBM : ByteOrder.MACOS);        var str = fsOpts.tiffByteOrder.toString();

    It will not work properly if there is transparency.

    BTW, where did you get a German version of this? I've written PPI but never germanisés he...

  • Why my InDesign application does not open?

    Message says to wait, but it never opens. No problem with any other CS programs.

    You seem to have a subscription to Photoshop CC otherwise you could not run this application. Maybe you have the plan of photography with Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge CC?

    You can go to www.adobe.com. Sign in with your identification code Adobe click on manage my account and it will tell you what type of account you have.

    But you seem to not have a subscription to InDesign CC, this is why it is not executed.

  • I have an apple quarkXpress script I want to convert to InDesign

    I have an apple quarkXpress script I want to convert to InDesign. We really think hard on the conversion on InDesign, but one problem is that I have an apple script that automates much of the work. I don't know even if you can use applescript with InDesign. The script we use shaped text with style sheets and incorporates images in the text.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    InDesign supports applescripting. Why not ask your question in the InDesign Scripting forum?

  • Why closing a window in Indesign doesn't work?

    I have a question about Indesign script.

    Why it works, when you close a window as:

    submitButton.onClick = function(){ close(); }

    But when I try to perform a function thereafter as:

    submitButton.onClick = function(){ close(); tagElements(); }

    (I use the "a" tag, so no note window.close() is required)

    The window does not close? I forget something here? Shouldn't the window close and then run the function?

    The window is initialized as:

    var de = new Window('dialog', 'Descriptions');

    This is the model that I use:

      var ds = new Window('dialog');
       buttonnew = ds.add('button', undefined, 'submit');
       buttonnew.onClick = function(){
           ds.close(1);
       }
    if(ds.show()){
      newwindow();
    }

       function newwindow(){
       var de = new Window('dialog');
       buttonnew2 = de.add('button', undefined, 'submit');
       buttonnew2.onClick = function(){
           de.close(1);
       }
       if(de.show()){
         dosth();
    }
    }

    function dosth(){
           alert('test');

  • Is it possible to save a table in Photoshop (which has been created in InDesign) without text fuzzy?

    I am trying to save a table in Photoshop that was created in InDesign for web use. When I save it as a png (cannot save in pdf or jpeg the limitations of our company Web site), the text appears blurred (pixelated?). Is this because the table is flattened/pixelated?

    Is there a different adobe product that can be used to avoid what is happening? The company that built our Web site is a style editor that has limited capabilities. We tried using the website editor for creating tables; However, the Editor doesn't have the flexibility and the ease of use that comes with InDesign. That's why we opted to create the tables in Indesign.

    To download the table in the editor, the file should be saved as a png image, that's why we create in InDesign and then by saving the table in Photoshop.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much for the help!

    Tracy

    Yes, export while in InDesign.  Make sure save you it in png-24 format and not a png-8 (transparency).  Also, make sure that you do not have your visible background layer when you save it in Photoshop.  You should see the grid in Photoshop which denotes a transparent background when you save it.

  • CS5.5 / Win: Indesign crashes when importing an rtf file

    Hello

    My plugin crashes when importing an rtf file. Most rtf work very well, but it's not OK. If I try to import Indesign crash. Also if I try to manually place in Indesign.

    I think that something is wrong in the rtf, but I can open it in Word.

    Any ideas what to do?

    Can I perform a check in advace?

    By the way: I can't save my RTF presets in Indesign. No idea why?

    Thank you

    Hans

    Hello

    It does not work without my plugin. InDesign crashes also without it, if I placed the RTF manually.

    In the meantime, I found a sequence in my RTF which is the cause of the accident. I fixed that manually, and after that I could import the RTF. It seems that it is a problem of the RTF import filter.

    The uncorrected RTF was imported to Indesign CS3, after that it crashes (CS4, CS5, CS5.5).

    Thank you

    Kind regards

    Hans
