Time limits

Summary of the issue

What version of Windows Live Family Safety do you use?
Version 2011 (15.4.3538.513)
Choose your operating system version:
Windows Vista SP2

Additional details
I put the time restrictions on an account called family in my PC. However, it did not work! My son seems to be able to get any time.
Is it because the time limit only works for Windows 7? and not vista?
Why? MSoft can not make it work for Vista?

Hello

Deadlines should work on Windows Vista when you use parental controls. It is possible that you experience this problem because you are using an older version of the parental control, the installation program does not correctly, or settings are not updated to the level of the parental control client after making changes on the Family Safety website. The latest version of the family of security for Windows Vista is build 15.4.3555.0308.

Apparently, the latest version of the parental control now uses the standard user accounts (Windows logon) as a child in the safety of the family. If you need to know about adding a user to the Windows login with standard privileges, please see this link.

If you have already created a standard user and you want to manage under parental control, then follow these steps:

1. run the parental control on a Windows account with administrator privileges. If this is your first time running the parental control, you need to sign in using your Microsoft Account.

2. after login, select the standard Windows account that you want to monitor as a child by checking the box to the right of the name of the account, and then click Next after.

3 on the right, you will see members parental control with a list of drop down option. Click the menu drop-down, and then select Add standard account name.

4. click on record. Wait until the installation is done.

5. Once done, you should see the name of the account under Windows monitored accounts.

Establishment of the limits of time using the parental control

After you add the account of the child (standard user) for the safety of your family, you can then set up time restrictions limit as follows:

1. connect the customer to parental control using the Parent account.

2. click on settings of the child of the child you want to impose time limits.

3. Select the Windows account you want to associate with your parent account.   Put a tick and clicking next takes you to the next screen.

4. after combining, you must set up familysafety.microsoft.com time limits (formerly fss.live.com)

5. note: for time limits work, the child Windows account must be a Standard user and NOT an administrator account.

6. in the left pane, click the name of the computer or the child account to configure by clicking on the settings below.

7. click on deadlines.

8 Note: Make sure that the check box Turn On is selected and block on the desired boxes restriction for the account of that of Windows.  Save to finish.

9. Once done do changes on the Family Safety website, don't forget to update the client settings by clicking on the 2 arrows at the top right of the window to the client (get the latest settings on the site).

In case you need help, feel free to post a reply.

Thank you and best regards.

  • I have a problem with time limits in Parental control.

Original title: Parental controls: time/blocks. How it works once defined?

I just put a few times on our computer that I DON'T want my child to be on the computer.  If my child is connected when the window of blocked time arrives, what happens?  It hits them?  Only apply it is able to connect at this time?  Will get a warning that they're about to be disconnected?

    Hi trossk,

You can set time limits to control when children are allowed to log on to the computer. Time limits prevent children to connect during the specified hours. You can set the hours of different logon for each day of the week. If they are connected end their time, they will be automatically disconnected. For more information, see control when children can use the computer.

  • Family Safety time limits must be checked through machines

I use RTM of Windows 8 on a desktop computer and a laptop. I have set up Family Safety on behalf of my son on both machines. It has a delay of 45 minutes per day. He has discovered that he can use 45 minutes on the desktop, then move it to the laptop and use another 45 minutes. I think it is a bug. I believe that the correct behavior is to the allocation of time to follow on all the computers to which it has access. Please correct.

How would that be able to follow through all the machines?  Do you give your son a Microsoft Account access?

There is no way to monitor a local account anywhere to separate machines.  You will need to monitor the activity and do not rely on Windows to do it for you to break your limit of 45 minutes.  It is not a bug when using local accounts.
A Microsoft Account might be able to be the subject of a follow-up, but again, it is not the use of Microsoft to track these things.  Especially on multiple computers.  They've already given you control over everything else, you should be able to know which machine it uses and how much time is left.  Split time between the 2 machines.  20 minutes on the desktop and 25 on the laptop.  Problem solved without blaming Microsoft for tracking everything that your son didn't.
  • Family Safety time limits is no longer log off user

    Hello

Now I used a while to FSS deadlines for on the same laptop. Recently (I guess that for an update), delays are no longer disconnect the user. You are unable to log on to the account during blocked times, however, once logged on you without getting more time per minute 15 "you will be logged out' warning and my son can continue to use the computer.

Until I get the stock answers: -.

    • It has a standard account and I have an administrator account on the laptop.
    • I uninstalled the filter and reinstalled the latest version
    • I refreshed the filter and box "your settings have been updated" appear
    • Time box is checked on the Web site
    • It is a Windows 7 PC with all the patches/updates applied and carefully scanned for virus/malware

Family safety is blocking sites and reports very well for this account, it's just time disconnect feature that does not work. I followed all the steps of other responses.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hi, Andy Long,.

The same question was discussed on this thread, please check it and try the solution proposed, if the problem persists please reply to this message with the following information:

    • What is the version of the safety of your family?
    • What browser you are using to configure the settings on the Web site of the parental control? You can try configuring it using Internet Explorer?
    • You receive an error when you change settings on the Web site of the parental control?
    • Are there other accounts of child on parental controls? If so, time always work?

In addition, please provide us with a screenshot the parameters of time limit for the account of the child concerned. I have sent you a private message for instructions. After you download the screenshot, please let know us in this thread.

    Thank you!

  • Standard user changes time clock to circumvent the time limits set in the parental controls, how to stop this?

    Original title: clock change

I put deadlines for my daughter in the parental control. my daughter just changed the clock time to get around this. It has a standard user account and I have the password to the administrator account, which she could not possibly know that I keep changing. How does do and how can I stop this happening?

The date and time system can be changed using a control panel applet - timedate.cpl file.

If you have the administrator account, you can refuse his user account access to the said folder.

    1. go to start > type cmd > press and hold shift + Enter (this will open CMD with Admin Access)
    2. on your type CMD in the command below

    Cacls timedate.cpl /p : n

    3. press ENTER.

The command will refuse access to user account in the file so that it could not change the time and date.

  • TIME delay start order and time limits

    Hi all:

I have a question about the vApp properties & gt; Running dialog box. Page 56 on user's guide States:

"In the tab running, determine the sequence of boot, boot delay and delay of closure order.

You must type the numbers that are in progress, for example, 0, 25, 1000, to define the sequence. Negative numbers are not allowed. »

That's all that is mentioned on the functions of startup time. I guess that the progression is from low to high - that is to say that the virtual machine called 0 would begin before the designation of the virtual machine as 25. Is this correct? The first VM in the sequence must be designated 0?

My next question has to do with the start time text box. Suppose I have put vm1 to the order 1 order of 0 and vm2. If I want to vm2 start 60 seconds after vm1, can I enter start delay in the text box for vm1 or vm2? In other words, start-up time is used to determine how long after that a particular virtual machine is delayed to start after it is determined to be next in sequence, or the delay is used to determine how long after the virtual machine is started before the next sequence be allowed to power on?

    Paul D. Pindell VCP4

VCD will start VMs in ascending order and then stop in descending order. For example, if you have three virtual computers with 0, 1, 2 boot order, the first to start is 0 then 1, then 2. When you stop the paralytic, the first stop is 2, etc.

The VM startup time is the duration in seconds of the previous VM starting in the boot order. Using the same example as above, if the delayed start is 60, 180, 120 for 0, 1, 2 virtual machines, the first 60 is IGNORDED!. The virtual machine with the boot order 0 will start immediately, no matter what it has start delay is. Then, VMS with start command 1 will to power to 180 seconds after vm 0 is turned on. The last of them will begin to 120 seconds after that. The key is that the time is compared to the previous VM, not absolute time relative to the beginning of vapp.

During the shutdown of a paralytic, the stop delay applies after the first VM is stopped. The stop delay on the virtual machine with the highest boot order is ignored. Then, the next highest start VM command stopped n seconds after one is arrested (where n is the stop of the second delay starts more high order VM).

There is another type of start delay that can be set in the VC that causes the virtual machine to a break in the bios for a loading screen number of milliseconds. This parameter has nothing to do with how VCD starts VMs. As part of VCD, the delay is applied without even say VC to start the VM so that VC setting delay applies after a virtual machine is running and breaks to the bios screen. If you are interested in using the setting in the CR, you can find it in the "Startup Options" tab options dialog box settings VM.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions

  • Deactivation of the slide time limits

    Hi guys,.

How to disable or remove the time that can be spent in solving a slide in Captivate 7? Once I launch the application, drag and drop, my images seems disappera after only a few seconds and I don't want that and I want individually drag the timeline to the max of 600 seconds. is there another protocol?

You can check if the break is activated? Look in the D & D, Options Panel.

  • CQL time-limited aggregation

    Hello

We are trying to aggregate every 5 minutes, so we're doing a

Select sum (property) in stream [slide 5 minutes from Beach 5 minutes]

But this does not take into account when the range will start, and I guess that it is based on the first event entering the given processor according to request a timestamp path.

So what we intend to do is to send a wink as the first event to toggle the starting point, that is 12:00. What is the right way?

Are there other options in CQL in which you can set the starting point of a range without mingling with the inserted events?

    for example [00:00 - 00:05, 00:05 - 00:10,...] as opposed to [00:01 - 00:06 to 00:06 - 00:11,...]

    Kind regards
    Jarell

    Hi Jarell,

What I wanted was the day of your departure as long as 12:00 corresponds to a value of type LONG (where the value of LONG type is the result of the expression in ) which is a multiple of the size of slide in nanos (in your case 5 * 60 * 10 ^ 9), the approach will not work.

Also, I assume that the expression in corresponds to a LONG since as mentioned in the other post (Dstream with range there is a bug when is an expression of type TIMESTAMP.

  • C55-b854 satellite shows the limited internet connection

It shows the connection some time limited and the adapter is ok.and the internet speed is also slow.

    Hello

You did not provide details if this happens using a LAN or WLan connection.
I would recommend checking the two internet connections.
In the case of this limited connection problem would only appear using the WiFi connection, then you should check the configuration.

First of all, I would like to recommend that test you different standards WLan 802.11 (B/G/N) and different (WPA/WPA2 AES, TKIP) encryption standards

By the way; the WLan card also shares the BT. in case you are using WLan, please keep off BT.

  • Vs duration use fixed time window restrictions

How can I set limits on the duration of computer use by account (for example 2 hours in use between 09 h 00 and 21 h 00 total) rather than having fixed time-windows (daily regimen allowed/denied)?

Better yet, is it possible to have the use of the internet regardless of any other local applications (e.g. 6 hours total use, 2 hours of internet browsing, between 09:00 and 21:00 only - NO access to all other hours) limited in time?

    Hi yiorgo,.

The function to set limits using the duration of use is now available. If you already set up your child in the parental control account, please follow these steps:

    1. go to http://fss.live.com

    2. under the account of the child you want to set the limit, click change settings.

    3. click on time limits.

    4. on the allocation tab, click Activate, then set the limit of usage per day. After that, click Save.

    5. click on the curfew tab, and then click Activate the.

    6. Select the hours/days that you want the computer to be blocked. After that, click Save.

For your second question, there is no functionality to restrict the use of the internet based on the time/calendar. You can submit it as a request to feature here:

Reviews for Windows Live Family Safety

    Thank you!

  • "Family Safety > settings user > user activities > time PC used" shows always "1 minute".

I have Windows 8, clean install, not an upgrade to Windows 7.

I have set up three accounts of child when I got the laptop.

As a first step, the "time limits" worked and accounts would be to warn children when they had spent some time.

Now, two of the three children never warns.  In addition, when I check their accounts, it shows always only '1 minute' for any day that they were connected.

I am using local accounts for each of them, not the "Family Safety site", since none of my kids have accounts of Microsoft.

Y at - it a patch to do this, please?

    Hi Daniel,.

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I understand that delays in parental control does not work. It is possible that there is a problem with the time limits on your computer that is causing the problem with the use of PC.
