Time Machine is stuck on 'clean up' and now Finder "unresponsive".

I started a backup TM of my La Cie 650 GB external hard drive last night - this morning said TM it is 'clean' and did not move from 163,41 Go Go 209,69 - probably he has been there for hours, it's for an hour already and it hasn't moved. It's my first backup in about a year (Yes, I know, but takes time away from me...). I searched the forums and the web to help you, but nothing is understandable (as Pondini), the other stuff is too mysterious for me. Some people talked about deleting files that say ".inprogress", but don't tell how to find these files and others cautioned against this tactic in any case.

But now Finder "unresponsive" and I'm afraid to leave strength Finder - how I'd do anything then? I tried to disable the backup on TM interface, but all he says is "stop backup" without actually stopping. I can't leave it by clicking the x at the end of the progress bar (which is a zebra Strip) because Finder is not responding. Now the TM progress bar disappeared and so has the TM interface - perhaps because I clicked on 'backup shutdown', but La Cie icon on my desk is always green, indicating that the backup is still ongoing (I think). I can't access all the apps because of the Finder does not work, if I can access the web. I'll make a power button closure, but thought I'd ask here first. Other posts here have said that TM is managed in OS X forums, while below, I gives me the choice of TM and OS X forums, so I chose both. Thank you all.

Update: I had to eventually give up and restart because TM slowed everything down without making any progress. Meanwhile, joins system preferences Finder in "not responding." I Force Quit Finder, which lets me access the menu bar/Apple of the upper tool, but by clicking on restart only swept my desktop clean without having to restart. So, I did a shutdown power button. When I rebooted, Finder and system preferences were back to normal and TM had stopped smoking and the icon of the Cie was back to orange.

Except that now my desktop screen is by default magenta-purple sky Snow Leopard - choose my previous view in system preferences/display-Screensaver does nothing, but I can see the photo in this menu area. I ran disk utility on my HD and the co. with no complications. I rebooted twice trying to find my desktop display, but no go. Everything seems normal, but I have not tried all the apps beyond the messaging and browser. It's all very weird.

It looks like you may have some saved jobs in your queue that need to be removed.

    Here's how:

To clear the print queue, stop the print spooler service and delete all the jobs/print pending.

You cannot delete all print jobs in the queue so that the Print Spooler Service is running.

To stop the Print Spooler Service, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    services.msc

Click OK to open the Services Applet.

Locate the Print Spooler Service, right click and choose 'Properties' and then click on the "Stop" button to stop the Print Spooler Service is running.

The option "Startup Type" of Service properties print spooler is usually set to "Automatic" (which is now a good time to check it out).

If the "Startup type" is not set to "Automatic", set the "Startup type" to "Automatic" If that is your desire (which now is the time to check it out).

Do not try to start or restart the Print Spooler Service immediately.  You must remove all print jobs backed up first...

Then, delete all updates pending upward and forward to printing from XP.  If they do not print before, you will need to send the to the printer again.

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the following folder (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS

Delete all the print jobs in queue (select and delete all the files) in the folder if the folder is without waiting for print jobs.  The folder must be empty when you are finished.

Reboot your system and check the Print Spooler Service again to make sure the Print Spooler Service restarts automatically restart (given that the startup type is set to automatic).

After the reboot, check again the Spooler Service for printing and the 'Status' column for the print spooler must be read "started."

Submit new failure of print jobs.

I tried the clean boot and now the hard drive works simply and screen went black. The mouse still moves around the screen without any outher work keys? That is what it is?

    Hello

You will need to reverse the clean boot, as it is either incidental compared to
the real cause of the problem. What, where you try to fix initially using the cleanboot?

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If so you can try the configuration - control panel
The Device Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click the driver UPDATE - then
Right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is
CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

  • Backups Time Machine missing after model clean install

For a Mac using Time Machine to back up, is there a way to clean install OS X for a new internal SSD and keeps backups Time Machine historical which have been made using the previous internal SSD?  While as I use it to back up the new internal SSD TM, TM will show the backup history of both the previous internal SSD and the new (up to the capacity of the disc from the TimeCapsule).

MacBookPro8, 2 I used Time Machine on a time Capsule TB 3 towards the rear for 2 years. No problems and shows 2.24 available 3 TB.

Last night I did a clean model 10.11.5 install a new SSD, and a transfer application, the user accounts Migration Wizard, etc. Since the previous flash SSD disk internal (format / installed the new SSD, attached to the internal SSD previous via USB flash disk, then started in Recovery Mode to clean the installation model to the new internal SSD and when prompted did the previous internal SSD Migration Assistant).

Everything no problem above went very well. But now when I "TimeMachine enter", I see that the most recent backup made (before the clean install).  The right navigation (which goes in reverse chronological order of the lower part of the screen to the top) seems to show the date on which the previous backups have been identified.  But if I click on a date, TM Finder main window does not scroll from that date. The top / arrow down buttons to the right of the main window of Finder TM also do not respond to clicks.

So far as I can tell, I've lost all TM backups except the most recent. I have all saved data elsewhere outside time Capsule, so between that and the 1 backup, I can see in TM I have not lost anything.

If I had done the Migration Wizard from the TimeCapsule rather than the previous internal SSD flash drive, would that have kept all historical TM backups?

    Thanks for any idea

Time Machine, please press the shift-command-C key combination. The windshield will show the mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and search for files to restore.

If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user library folder, first select a snapshot, and then press shift-command-G. A go to the folder dialog box opens. In this document, you enter the path to the folder. The dialog box will help you by automatically filling parts of the path when you start typing.

The path starts with the slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts is separated by slashes.

The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a '2', and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right arrow key to access the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next game.

Next is the volume name (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you assigned a different name.) Start typing, then jump to the end and enter a slash.

The next part is 'Users', followed by a slash.

Then is your short user name. It is also the name of your home folder, which is represented by an icon of the House in the sidebar of a Finder window.

Finally, enter "Library", and then press return. You should now be in the library folder. From there, you can move like in the Finder. You can also select another snapshot of the same folder.

  • Pavillion Dv7: HELP! Cleaned fan and now this!

My fan was constantly running for awhile now so I decided to clean it up. Of course, the only way to effectively clean was to open the laptop and blow air. So I did and when I closed it upward, I stayed with a screw. Now I am normally a short because I lost one of the long screws that are placed in the 4 corners of the rear plate. Later, I assumed that I did not replace the 2 screws for the Assembly of the fan. It turns out I was right, but I've been abbreviated 1 screw more. I had to open the computer again and replace the screws.

So after I closed the laptop until I'm going to turn on and this is what happened: (also, I had asked a question on another laptop I have; it is not related to this one. The other is already fixed and working. It is also out of warranty).

I don't know why this has happened, or what I can do about it. I had used an airbrush to clean dirt. Maybe there's some dirt still inside to hinder operations?
