  • Gadgets for Windows Sidebar does not display correctly

    Hello
I just installed a new antivirus-Sophos which automatically uninstalled my previous installation of McAfee that came with my Dell laptop.
Am running Vista SP2 32 bit, Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM, @2 GHz T6400.
After installing antivirus and subsequent reboot, my sidebar is displayed and so do the gadgets, but they are all "corrupt" and not displaying correctly. For example, the clock is dark, and change the opacity does not allow me to see the time. Calendar, notes, and UC only appear as a vertical white line. None of them appears correctly.
    Help, please.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8610: Times New Roman fonts will print on HP Officejet Pro 8610

My new HP Officejet Pro 8610 not print documents, spreadsheets or test pages to printer containing the font Times New Roman (of any size).  It does not have a job in the print queue.  In Excel, I get the error message "Generic_2_Q294552".

My configuration: computer a HP Pavilion Elite NY809AV-ABA e9119t; running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1; HP Laserjet 5 L, HP 1310 PCS and HP D4360 all print do it very well.

My new printer: HP Officejet Pro 8610, FDP1CN1502AR firmware revision, connected via a USB cable.  [Also connected via a cable to cable modem ethernet.]

What I've done so far to help out the last 3 days: reinstalled printer (3 times), the most recent today with a published installer today. restarted the printer; restarted the computer after every significant change; updated the firmware in the printer; tried two different USB cables; tried to print fonts in Microsoft Word 7, Microsoft Excel 7 and directly from the font file; Reinstall the fonts Times New Roman of backup; visited the forums and tried all the solutions I have for any similar problem; tried the winprint, hpzppw71 and hpzpplhn print processors with RAW and NT EMF 1,008 formats data types; found and fixed all the problems I have found with all hardware and software, as well as to the latest updated version of the software.

Finally, I seem to have problem solved for me.

First of all, a few comments, just for the record:

-in the affected user accounts, "Print Test Page" fails in the printer properties, but HP printer & Scanner doctor said that everything is okay, and printing test page without any problems

-newly created user accouts working fine

In the end, I recognized that my user accounts have a default TEMP variable: I redirect to the HARD drive to avoid piercing main SSD drive for temporary files. Setting permissions on this directory to the user everyone "Full control" (not only 'Edit'!) does the job: printer starts to print correctly. Phew!

I hope that this helps you, Tom and others get this problem!

  • New topic does not display my styles

  • Menu is not displayed correctly

My problem is that not all the main menus are the display. In particular, inserting menus, DHTML and Table are completely absent - the menu name is not even appear in the toolbar, so there is nothing to click. My custom menus are also missing. The only time where I can see them is when I am in the window customize - as soon as I got close to him, they all disappear completely new.

To resolve this, so far I have tried:

    • Right-click in the toolbar area > customize > options > always Show Full Toolbars > close. As soon as I click on close, the menu disappears again.
    • Customize > commands > New Menu. Create a custom menu called InsertThis and manually add the same commands that are in the Insert menu. As soon as I click on close, the menus (including new, personalized menu), completely disappear. (So apparently custom menus also will not display.)
    • Customize > commands > add various commands on the Toolbars menu. Close. They remain there, visible, no problem. (So apparently only the menus are affected - not the toolbars.)
    • Restart RoboHelp. No change.
    • Restart the computer. No change.

Anyone has an idea why these menus is not displayed correctly?

    Hello

Try this. Right-click in the menu area and choose Customize. This will open the Customize dialog box. In the tab tool bars, check that the Menu bar is selected. Then click the reset... button.

    See you soon... Rick

  • RH7: Project showing only Times New Roman in drop-down list of fonts

    Hello

I have problems with a project which has been very well a few weeks ago. For now, the only option in the drop-down list selection of fonts is "Times New Roman"... a nice font, but we write our documentation in Arial, so it takes a little that for the moment we can't select any font for our documents, only TNR.

I'm not very experienced with HR, but I checked the style sheet (seems to be linked properly and the content is the same as style sheets to projects that have no problems), the models seem ok too... I'm puzzled.

Other things happening (apparently at random):

-new themes are created without associated style sheet

-new topics have TNR 12 as default font size (our models wear 9 Arial)

-old open subjects without a style sheet; Add in the HTML code required for the style sheet doesn't seem to help.

All this happened on my colleague PC, I can't replicate them on mine. Whatever it is, on our two PC the only display of fonts is TNR.

This can be important: projects have been added recently to Robo SourceControl. Can it be linked to that?

I'd appreciate any help, especially since we have a big release coming next week and all documentation must be in top form by then

I have reproduced this problem by deleting the file rhfontset.apj in a test project (and the removal of the DPC). Theoretically, you should just be able to copy the file from one of the samples project.

  • Mozilla site does not display correctly

I just installed Windows 10 (64 bit) on a new PC and downloaded and installed Firefox. I tried to install some add-ons, but immediately found that the Mozilla Web site did not display correctly: text is displayed, but not graphics.

    I tried the following:
    -disabled the firewall (ESET)
-deleted the cache and remove all cookies
-uninstalled Firefox, deleted the user and re-installed Firefox profile
-a confirmed that "load images" is set to "Allow" on the table in the Page Info permissions for mozilla.org

I've attached a screenshot of the Network Console, which shows beams with zero file size. This suggests a possible cause of the issue?

Can you help me with this, please?

I think that the lock bar icon indicates a problem with connection to the style sheets in mozorg.cdn.mozilla. NET. You get a connection error secure loading one of these stylesheets directly?

    https://mozorg.CDN.Mozilla.NET/media/CSS/home-bundle.063ce4c50b67.CSS

A sucessful load looks like a wall of text starting with:

    @font-face{font-family:'FA-Icons-Home';src:url("/media/

ESET is a potential suspect in any secure connection because, by default, it intercepts all navigation connections to filter harmful content. However, if the problem is ESET, then you would encounter problems on all secure sites, so ESET might not be the culprit here, if this does not affect other HTTPS connections.

10 Windows, one of the possible causes of the errors of secure connection are not set up Firefox to work with parental parental control of Microsoft software. More information about this feature: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/turn-off-microsoft-family-settings

Is there a broader model? To continue the investigation, you may inspect the certificate on another site that makes it easy, as my test page at: https://jeffersonscher.com/res/jstest.php

Assuming that you get an error page, expand the section "I understand the risks" and look for a button Add Exception.

Note: You don't need to complete the process of adding an exception - I suggest not adding one until we know that it is not a malware issue - but you can use the dialog box to display the information that makes Firefox suspicious.

Click Add exceptions and exception certificate dialog box should open.

Click on the button display. If the view is not enabled, try first the button get certificate.

This should display the certificate. Look at the section "issued by" and the Details, the hierarchy of certificates tab. What do you see here? I have attached a screenshot for comparison of screen.

  • Times New Roman 11 point shrunken feel justified with HP UPD PCL 5 results in characters

Since the duty switch to the driver for HP (PCL 5) universal print several months ago, when we made the jump to Windows 7 (it seem not to be any specific device Windows 7 x 64 drivers for most HP printers) that we had a very specific problem with printing documents (especially from Word 2010).

When we print a document that has the Times New Roman 11 point police, and that the document is fully justified, the output will of characters that are "crushed" together in different places on the pages.  For example, the 'l' and the 'e' in 'legally' in part of a page could be printed too close, almost on top of the other, while the same Word may appear later in the page and end.

This strange behavior output is consistent when the document is printed several times with different HP printers (all using the UPD PCL 5).  In other words, the shriveled characters will appear in the same place on the same pages of any printer send us the task to (we have printers ranging from an old 4050N and a whole new m602) or how many times it is printed.

Since one of our departments has literally thousands of legal documents that use Times New Roman 11 point fully justified, it's a pretty big deal.  For the moment, we have been print these documents to a photocopier to avoid the HP UPD question, but this isn't a permanent solution.  I need to know how to solve this problem for HP printers so we can print documents we have where we need.

I should mention that I've already updated printer drivers network (Windows 2008 R2) to the last UPD PCL 5 (July 2014).

I have some ideas on this issue.

First of all, for more general printing Office such as from Word and other applications of MS Office, you will get the best combination of performance and print quality using the PCL6 driver.   Unless you have a legacy application that requires PCL5, I would recommend moving to PCL6.

Second, when you moved to the HP UPD did you create new print queues or to update an existing queue by using the new driver option on the Advanced tab of the driver?    When you use the pilot 'new' option, Windows did his best to keep the old queue settings and put them on the new pilot.   This may cause missing, additional incorrect registry entries, corrupt or simply on the queue.      I always recommend to create new print queues when changing drivers.   If you have a large number of print queues that must be deleted and recreated, I suggest you try the AutoUpgradeUPD.exe utility from administrator print Resource Kit (PARK) at www.hp.com/go/upd.     For more information about this utility, see http://youtu.be/mYCVx1RBp9w

Finally, some Microsoft Office applications save some driver with the file information.   I see this more often with Excel, but I guess that Word may depend on as well.   The problem is that the application passes data from the former driver for the new driver and it can create unexpected results.    To see if this is the case, open the print dialog box, and then click on printer properties to open the user interface for the driver.   It is enough to click OK to close the window and the driver information will be updated in the Word document.    Now, click on print and see if the output is improved.   If Word prompts you to save your changes when you close the document (and you make changes) that's a clue that the driver information has been updated in the .doc file.

  • M/S using wireless keyboard 800 and some characters are not displayed correctly

Have just connected a new wireless keyboard M/S 800, and some characters are not displayed correctly. For example, I get "when @ (update 2) is pressed on the keyboard and the £ runs it shift 3.» Am currently using XP SP3.

No problems with my original keyboard, Wired.

    Hi simoncd.

What is your location.  The reason why I ask this is that your keyboard is set to the standard UK layout.  Looks like you have the keyboard for the U.S. keyboard layout.  Shift + 2 is the "on the UK keyboard, @ on the U.S. keyboard."

To change the keyboard settings you must go to "Control Panel", then "regional and language options".  The first page allows you to set the number format and character relative to your location and also set the location.  Check these and modify accordingly so badly.  You want to then go to the second 'languages' tab and click on the button "Details".  Here you can set the default keyboard.  This changes if necessary.  This should, hopefully restore your keyboard to the presentation that you want.
