Tip action stops / pauses slide, always

V5.5

I tried 20 different ways, and each time, it suspends the project no matter what I do. Here's the logic:

If contains userEmail @

Go to slide 5

Continue

Basically, if the email variable is set, then proceed to slide 5. I have the advanced action value "on entrance" to slide 3 (for the moment. I tried to slide 2 and 4 with the same results). Slide 3 is empty, only does this same action - I created it specifically for this action, so I was able to isolate the problem.

However, it stops at the presentation. He stops on slide 2, if I put it here on slide 3, 4 if I put it here. He paused "Come in" or "out" - is not serious.

Tried with and without continuous. Tried with continue before and after the jump to slide 5. Even a break.

It is a simple project with 10 blades - in fact a test project with 2 questions and a quiz. Simple as you can get.

Help please. God, somebody help me.

As usual, I thought about it 30 seconds after I wrote the above.

I had to add a continuous to the Else - duh.

    Question

Is there a method to Pause / resume a slide which will include. Functionality of MP4 too?

    Question

Video slide do not break by using the method of Action Advanced below:.

    -Slide the audio breaks

    -Slide break interactions

-But NO video slide (.) MP4)

Content of the tip Action :

    IF cpCmndPause = 1

    Assign cpCMndResume = 1

    Else cpCmndPause = 1

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    Roughly translated, it says:

If the movie is paused, resume.  Otherwise, take a break now... but it doesn't.

    Found the solution.

MP4 Video is NOT suspended with the timeline because it has its OWN script.

Recode video in F4V format and now it stops with the slide.

  • Hide various objects on different slides with the same tip Action

I'm quite new to Captivate and because of that I'm fighting for the search feature, I need. I have a project of say 40 slides. On each slide, I have a button field on the left side guide and when clicked I have a window scroll from left to right, in the main frame of the window.

Also on each slide is an object that displays specific information (usually in the form of text) with the previous buttons and following attached to it (its actually just a PNG image with the buttons "Previous" and "Next" with click boxes on them).

The problem I have is when I click on the field guide that I want to hide this information object. I can easily do this in a tip for 1 slide action but when I want to the same tip action allows to always hide the information object of the current slide that I meet problems. If I was able to name objects of the same name is not a problem.

The only "fast" solution I have is that each object information on each slide set to hide when I open the guide and then visible when I close the guide.

Is their a better solution or does this supposed same matter?

    Thanks in advance

Why you not time the objects for the rest of the project, always on top? In this case, you will have an ID (I recommend you even a group). BUT: This means that you cannot use boxes to click but must spend much more flexible form buttons.

  • Need help to understand why "1 is always equal to 1" is required in my tip Action

I use 7 Captivate and publishing as a SWF file.

I have an interaction that works, but there's a script I use (that I found in a tutorial) that I do not understand the purpose of.

The interaction is contained on a single slide where a user clicks on two buttons in order any and a chart is displayed after the second click. Each button, I advanced conditional Action where I first check that it will always be true that "1 equals 1", then assign each variable with '1', then ensure that each variable is equal to 1, after which the graphic appears.

The part that confuses me checks if "1 is always equal to 1." Why is this necessary script in this case? Is it necessary because I'm including a tip Action Standard (assign variables to '1') within the conditional Action Advanced? Or is related to the fact that I do everything on a slide (do not use a slide event on enter a conditional Action executing advanced)?

    Thank you.

As usual, Rick explanation is awesome! It won't be fun to add more details.

It would have helped if you don't say what tutorial you are talking about. This could be one on my blog, where I often use a "standard action imitated" it is a decision in a conditional action. The condition, I mainly used was 'IF 1 is equal to 1'. Article 1 (over 4 years): combination Standard and conditional in a tip action was even in Captivate 5 help documentation.

Probably, I'll write a new blog post, because of the new shared actions. It is now better is to not use this simple condition more 'If 1 is equal to 1' If you use shared in Captivate 8 actions. It would take too long to explain in depth in this forum, so my idea on a new article. This condition could function without problems "Een if equals Een. Do not laugh at the word 'Een' which is the Dutch version of the written number 1. Be careful, because Captivate is case-sensitive, that 'If Een equals een' will not work.

  • Tip action to show only a previous button on a slide so the learner clicked on the button Submit on Drag and Drop

I am a user of long date Captivate and have dabbled with advanced Actions and Variables, so know just enough to get me in trouble. Hoping someone can help me with what I hope is a simple tip action:

I am currently using CP8 and created a training where learners click on a map of building to go to different "rooms" to complete an interaction drag-and - déposer a certain topic related HR. The problem is that some of my learners test forget what 'rooms' they have already read and will click on those they have already visited. I added a back button, so that they can return to the map if they made a mistake, but now they are able to leave the slide without completing the interaction drag and drop.

Basically, I need to hide the back button unless the learner has already completed (for example, the user clicks on the button submit to) the Drag and Drop interaction, but I'm not sure how to set up. Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

Hide the button back to begin with. A tip action can be triggered by an event the success and failure of the & slipped. I guess that you will need at least two commands:

    • View the "back" button
    • Go to the next slide.

It seems the simplest solution. You can also ignore the slide D & D when they enter a second time, but then you will need a Boolean variable to be turned on/off by these same events and a conditional action on which checks this variable and immediately jumps to the next slide when it is set to 1.

  • Need help creating tip Action for Navigation "Inside-the-same-slide" to let the user Play slide again

I use 8 Captivate. It is a scenario of HTML5.

I have need of a button which will allow the user to "replay" the slide. I don't want the button to take the user to the front, back, or do anything else. I want the button to start the slide at the beginning and play without interruption until the end.

I am looking for help on how to do this using variables and advanced for HTML5 actions or, Alternatively, recommendations on the good tutorials for advanced actions. I prefer the tutorials that will allow me to start at the bottom. I was not able to find tutorials advanced action that assume no prior experience.

I know that each new user must say this, and I'm afraid that's true for me too. If I can't create a HTML5 work quickly replay button, it will get me in trouble with the client.

    Try this:

cpCmndGotoSlide is a system variable, which the index starts at 0. The variable cpInfoCurrentSlide system includes an index starting at 1. The reason for the subtraction in this Expression. You need to add continue because a tip action will not release the read head.

A tip action you can assign to a submit button standard quiz?

No Jay. The buttons embedded on quiz slides are not the normal buttons.

If you say what you want to achieve? Because after the two-step process (submit) is the action specified in the success or the last attempt will run. You can replace the default action 'Continue' by a tip action.

  • With the help of a tip action to display a picture (or button) on each slide.

I have a tip action that evaluates certain criteria. Advance action is called from several different slides in the presentation. Is it possible that I can get it to display a fixed image, if the criteria are met? It seems that I have to write a new, slightly different tip on each slide action to "show" the picture of each slide.

Is it possible to share an image (or button) so that the tip action can do appear, any slide, you are on?

I would like to know if I need to provide for additional details. Thank you!

Technically your advanced actions are allowed to show or hide the images on the slide where they are actually executed.  If an advanced running on slide 3, for example, action will not be able to display or hide an image on slide 5.

However, what you can do is to place the image on one of the slides earlier in the project and then assign timed for the rest of the project.  This allows you to SHOW or HIDE the image of any slide later in the project where your advanced Action is executed.

  • Cp6: How to stop a slide with several buttons in a nonlinear presentation?

    Hello

I would be very grateful for a solution to this issue, as I failed to find one yet in this forum.

The presentation is non-linear, which means that the first slide is a kind of menu that you can choose another slide to explore and always comes back to the first.

Each slide has several buttons that activate different audio files, and there is a button on the arrow in the lower right corner to jump to the first slide.

The problem is that the slide does not stop after that you click on some of the audio buttons and continue on the next slide (instead of take a break until the user clicks on the arrow button). When I click a few buttons and listen to audio, eventually the slide automatically continues to the next slide.

    I tried:

    • Add button click box with "break project up to what the user clicks
    • change all the buttons for timing-> break after...
    • change only the arrow for Timing-> button pauses after...
    • and will not take unnecessarily long time to slide

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,

    The best

    Acted

You don't say 'how' to play the audio? In any case, the default behavior of interactive objects that trigger a simple action is out the read head. If you replace the simple action by a standard tip action one line, the playhead is not released. Watch this video (posterous is down once, again can not point to my blog):

  • Captivate adds 'continue' to tip Action when the form is removed

    Hello

I discovered a 'feature' particularly embarrassing to Captivate, which can be demonstrated as follows.

    1. Add a smart shape to a slide, and name it TestShape.
    2. Create a new tip Action and call the TestAction (in this example to use Action Standard, but the behavior occurs also for conditional Action)
    3. Add action (step) see-> TestShape.
    4. Record peak Action.
    5. In the slide, delete TestShape. In other words, the first action (step) TestAction is more can be performed.
    6. Open the Advanced Action and watch Action of Test.
    7. You will see, that Captivate added continue as an action (step), instead of the broken action.

This has caused problems for me in complex actions. I did the design, including changes (for example deleting messages I no longer want to show/hide forms), and do not realize that this caused additional to continue actions in my Advanced Actions. It manifests in 'jump' behavior where I expect the slide to be paused.

To remedy this, I now need to review all my Actions advances before publishing, to do that there is no step to keep unwanted included.

Everyone knows this? Advice / tips on how to avoid this problem?

    Thank you

    Sarah.

Sarah, who has always been the case. I've already filed an application so that the continue replaced in this case with a clear warning. But no response yet.

  • Pause slide continues, but it should not

    I use 8 Captivate.

A problem for me is when I have interactivity no measure value, the slide always ends by will advance if clicked enough. I've never been able to remedy this, and my classes always fail QA review for this reason. I've listed as a known bug, but now my current project is to have more questions than normal.

The current slide that I was three Smart shapes, used as a button.

Each button is set to show a smartshape with text on a click.

    Success: SHOW

The parameters of each key are no attempts: 1

    Last attempt, no action

No other display options are selected.

I also tried endless attempts, last attempt, no action, and it doesn't work anymore.

I have a number of elements on the page, stopping at 1 sec.

No matter what I choose for the parameters, the second smartshape seems to be a problem if you click more than once the advance screen. There is no logical reason that I can find for this because it is a replica of my other "buttons".

Sometimes, once you click each smartshape, if the screen is clicked once again he advances. I don't want to move forward. Is there a setting I am missing, or is this even possible? Why the slide advances when I set everything to not allow to move forward.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I wanted to ask about the chronology and the exact configuration of the form buttons. I'm not totally sure of the installation.

  • Tip action does not work when I add a second block of decision

I'm writing an advanced action 8 Captivate. In response to a question about the points, the user types a number in a text entry area. When they support, the fast action will assess the number. If it is 10, the program should jump to a slide that shows that 10 is the right answer. (When I do just that in a single block of decision, it works.)

However, the full tip action must assess if the value is higher or lower than 10, then return the user to the question slide and displays an appropriate message. When I add the part in a second decision block, advanced action performs as expected if an incorrect value is entered, but does not work if the correct value is entered. It does is display the question slide once again.

    Here is the code:

    Captivate advanced actions code_01.jpg

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Should there be an ELSE statement in the first block of decision? I tried to continue, but that did not help.

    -Stuart

The logic of your advanced action is not correct. All decisions are always evaluated. What is happening here is the following:

    1. First decision check if var is equal to 10; If this is the case, it will change to slide 2
    2. Second decision check if var is greater than 10, if it is accurate, it will move on to slide 1. I guess the capPoints1High is ON slide 1?
    3. BUT here's the logic bug: If If is not greater than 10, which is also the case when it is equal to 10, it will change to slide 1, although already, he jumped to slide 2 first with the first decisioin

    Two possible solutions:

    1. decision of the switch 1 and 2 (one easier)
    2. remove the ELSE part of decision 2 and create a decision 3 to check if var is less than 10
  • Show/Hide Action on Master Slide

Is it possible to use an action to show or hide an object, particularly a smart form converted to a button that is placed on a slide Master? I'm building a custom in my course navigation. There are five bars along the bottom of the screen, each representing a chapter in the course. Once they complete a section, the color of the bar should change to indicate completion (effectively a badge integrated than the NAV), and they can then go back and check these sections later by clicking on them.

I don't see any way to name my smart shapes on slides model, nor is there a way to hide them.

    Thanks in advance!

Instead to put forms on the master slide, put on the first slide of the project, change their "timing" to the rest of the project and check "Always on top. You will have them on all the slides, and each object has a single identifier. This means that you can solve with a tip action, in any place of the project to change its appearance.

In this article, I have explained the difference between the two streams of work, either on leaves masters or timed for the rest of the project.

  • Launch of Advanced Actions on a slide

I use 7 Captivate and publishing as a SWF file.

I have a test project with only a slide in which the user clicks on the two buttons in any order, and after the second button is clicked, a graph pops up saying that the user has completed the task. I have an action "on entrance" attached to the slide that will run an advanced conditional Action that will check if the variables are equal to '1' (the variables have been initially set at '0'.), and if so, the graph is displayed. On each button, I have a Standard Tip Action to assign each variable to '1 '. However, I can't the graphic to appear after clicking on the two buttons.

It probably wasn't because I never "entered" the slide (since there was only a single slide) to run the on enter Advanced conditional Action?

Indeed, you create a conditional advanced action triggered by buttons, which combines the standard and the conditional action. I posted the workflow many times on this forum. Here we go (again):

    First decision "always."

    IF Me is me

    Assign the v_one with 1
    ...

    Second decision "CheckIt".

IF v_one is equal to 1 AND

    v_two is equal to 1

    View the chart

    The sequence is important!

  • Tip action: a conditional action does not execute the final decision

    Hello

I'm working on a program of Captivate (7). We have a tip action that runs when entering the program or the first screen.

The program transmits the data of Captivate to a database via Javascript to a .NET application.

After each of us the registration form that the user saw the screen and assign it to a user variable: v_lastmod = 1, 2, etc. On the way to the next screen, it passes the data to the database via Javascript to a .NET application and .NET passes a redirect response. So it basically loads the program again. Entering the first screen where I have a display "Loading" (just a screen with loading as text), according to your v_lastmod, it climbs to a particular slide. The tip action uses "If" and "else", "if" v_lastmod = 1, jump to "4 slide 4" etc. ".

We are able to do it for all the decisions that are in advanced actions, until we get to the lastmod = 19 (which is where we stop registration for this variable).

So, say for example v_lastmod = 19, rather than jumping to the appropriate slide, it goes to the screen first and then stops on the second slide.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

If all goes well, this didn't seem to be confused because I am not developer but program file Captivate .NET.
