To a new provider of Thunderbird

I'll need to migrate Thunderbird 3 of my current ISP (IDNET) email accounts to my new ISP (BT). I already copied address books (as a .csv and an .ldif file) on the desktop for each user account. I guess it can simply be imported only when I need to.

How I also save or copy the folders that contain e-mail messages with important information? Or can I simply copy and paste the information on a WORD document or similar?

Since there is no such thing as a Thunderbird account I am confused at what you're trying to do.
Is the new account the provider again with a different email address or are you just in changing hosts to your current address?
If a new address with a new provider for Thunderbird and start making your mail as usual, simply add the new details of suppliers.
Important.
Before you remove old suppliers of Thunderbird account information, you create folders in Thunderbird local folders and move the guardian emails in these folders. All messages in a local folder when you delete the old account information will disappear with the old account.

The address book is part of Thunderbird. It exports since a backup is an excellent idea, but was not really necessary, just to change email providers.

My older version of Outlook Express has acquired several problems. It is time for a change, these errors will be imported into a new account in Thunderbird. I hope that everything is based on the conviction that the two programs are completely different.

You don't say what problems you have with OE, then how everyone has to guess?

There is no such thing as a "Thunderbird account. You do not have an account with your email provider. To access this account, you can use OE, or Thunderbird.

  • My new provider password has 10 digits, but TB only accepts 8. If I can't get the full password.

My employer moved to a new provider email accounts and I got a new password consisting of 10 digits. The computer of the company uses Outlook and there is no problems. But they also want to get my emails on my computer private, where I use Thunderbird. And TB does not accept the last two digits of the new password. What can I do?

@Matt: it took me a while to find the check box "Show passwords", because in my version, it's hidden in "edit - preferences - security - passwords - passwords saved. But finally, I arrived and saw that even the old password of the old provider has been stored. And who had indeed exactly 8 digits. So I clicked on 'remove' and deleted the old password, thinking that this might be the reason for tuberculosis to accept only 8 digits. But, @Zenos: then I tried again to "get the job", has requested a new password and had the same problem as before. Entry stops after 8 characters.

    @Both: thank you, however!

Edit: So I've completely closed TB and opened once again, while he tried to get my emails automatically. And even once asked me for the password, and this time he accepted all 10 characters! Problem solved!

    Thanks again to you both!

Look at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb#w_how-to-find-your-profile and then go to the directory corresponding to your external drive to find your old * *.default file.
Copy your old profile to the directory where your current profile is stored.

  • value of email with new provider

I just signed up with new provider and tring to put in place with the window mail.  I already have good information, and port information.  passward and username are correct (I already called new supplier), but leaves no window messages access me my account. (when I put the username and passward, it says that it is invalid) The provider has said that there must be some someproblem with the window mail.   I didn't cancel previous provider again, what is the best solution for this?

Your topic says that there is a new supplier. I can assume this account has never worked? You typed this here or copy and paste error message?

Do you have triple checked your PW for spelling? Remove and type again. Even a stray space can cause this.

I use Cox on the West Coast myself. Did you call their tech support and asked them to this topic? Maybe reset your password? They are very good and there is 24/7. 1-800-221-4188.

  • Does not receive new emails from thunderbird to my gmail account not

    Hello
Since 4 February I get new emails in my thunderbird (version 31.4.0) to my gmail account. I can send emails, however.
I have 2 other e-mail accounts and that they do not have the same problem. If I have access to my account gmail since the browser or my phone, I can see the most recent messages without problem. I have reviewed the configuration settings (IMAP) and they seem correct, incoming and outgoing.
I already followed all the advice I could find online (removed McAfee, corrected some configurations recommended by gmail, etc.), but nothing helped. I would be grateful for any help.
    Thank you very much

  • When you compose a new message with Thunderbird, the program freezes and says "not responding".

Recently, I had to reset my 'computer work hand' factory default. Before that I erased everything that I saved addresses messages etc through Mozback, I then transferred all the Info for the laptop to see if it works, what it does.

After that I have re-installed Thunderbird to my recently returned to zero computer, I used Mozback until the restoration of all the information in the game as it was previously.

It worked fine for a day or so, recently I came across this problem:

Thunderbird receives letters and I can read it, but when I try "compose new message", "answer" or "forward", a new box message opens ready typing in unless it freezes and it says not responding do not.

I have it on my laptop and its works well so far, but I'm willing to work on the master computer.

    What should I do?

When your issue has been resolved can mark this thread as "solved" Please?
    Thank you.

  • 3 months ago loaded a new version of thunderbird and I accepted a free addon: I have to check my recipients and attachments...

... before sending it - it's ok, but my address list disappeared and I want to get rid of the addon - what is it and how to do it? I can find no trace of it on my computer now.

Who does well to go. I've never seen a download from a legitimate site require the user to make addons, except, no doubt, the recent automated inclusion of the Lightning Calendar.

You have nothing under Tools | Add - ons | Extensions in Thunderbird?

Where did you see the 'list addresses' who disappeared? Was it in a composition message window?

  • Running Windows 7, the new version of Thunderbird crashes my whole system about 90 seconds after its launch.

The system hangs. Nothing does, do not move the mouse. CTRL + Alt + Delete does nothing. Only way to proceed is to shut down the computer and restart. I use Thunderbird for years with no problems, until the most recent upgrade.
I tried to restart and launch other programs, but Thunderbird leads to the same result. I also tried to launch Thunderbird, open the address book window and close the window of mail electronic mail. It always breaks my computer after about 90 seconds.

OK, this accident probably won't help us a lot. I had once more. Basically, it's a deliberate attempt to block Thunderbird when a setback occurs. Unfortunately, while we stopped crashes, no one has identified a single cause that we can hang our hats.

Now if overwrite Windows is something very different and implies something that has access to the kernel of the operating system level. It's drivers and anti virus programs basically.

  • Can create new calendar in Thunderbird

OK, saw a lot of articles on creating a new calendar in lighting. All say file-> new-> calendar. The file menu in the menu at the top left doesn't have a new option. It is not the task Mode and I have no idea of what it is (or goggle).

Images you have posted show you the AppMenu Open button list, but you will need to click on the Message of Mew to open this menu.

I know! New Message? This is ridiculous. You are right. Programmers completely messed up the menu improved, new and robust system. I recommend you do you a favor and turn the old menu bar and use a system of menu real.

Press the alt key to make the call of menu bar.
The Menu bar, select View-Toolbars, and click the Menu bar on.
Now the calendar is where is belongs and where all the documentation says it is.

Maybe I should ask another fundamental question.
Do you have the Schedule tab open showing the default calendar?
If this isn't the case, in the menu bar, select events and tasks-calendar to open the Calendar tab.
The shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + c
