To set up my drive Web told me to "make sure that Ports 2077 and 2078 are not protected by a firewall... How can I find this information and if a firewall, how do I change or correct 2077 and 2078.

I'm trying to implement a web disk with Hostgator for my blogs and the problem seems to be on my end, not theirs.  If I have a firewall port problem which prevents me from using my drive so what other options can I?.  Also what are the Ports 2077 and 2078 on my firewall.  How can I fix the problem?  Should I switch the disk and just use my desktop computer?   I wanted to keep the Hostgator on the disk. Also, I have the same problem if I jump the disc.  My 'add a network' don't like what I'm doing!

Your message isn't clear when you refer to "floppy disk".

In general, a firewall is designed to avoid that other computers access to your computer - unless you want that to happen.  You can add an 'exception' to the firewall that allows the software installed on your computer to communicate through the firewall, or you can open 'holes' (aka port) in the firewall that remain open regardless of whether an application on your computer is actively using them.  The latter is obviously a bit more risky.

How to configure these exceptions depends on which firewall you use.  If you have Windows XP service pack 3 and you are using Windows Firewall, see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Open-a-port-in-Windows-Firewall (well that article is on Vista, it applies as well to the firewall of Windows XP sp3, except instead of step 2, just click the 'Exceptions' tab - and don't forget to uncheck the box in the "General" tab that says "don't allow exceptions").
