Too much upload-need to understand why

MacBook Air (4 GB, 1.7 GHz) became slower in the last two months or today, it wasn't usable all the afternoon. Finally, I used "Clean my Mac" about a month ago.  I have 34 free GB to 120 GB of storage. Off iCloud. Called ISP - they said that the download has been the most out of my house. Off the Mac. They said it happened again. I don't know what is happening. Thank you for any help or advice.

Any client on a network, including wireless clients, you don't know, could be the consumption of bandwidth. Networks Wi - Fi must be protected with WPA2 security. If yours is not, please modify the security on the access point setting. If it is already defined in this way, change the password. Make a chain of at least 8 random characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers. The password is saved in the keychain and you don't have to remember it. in fact, you should not be able to remember.

You make these changes in AirPort Utility, if the access point is an Apple device or in a web browser otherwise.

If the network or the password was precarious, and bandwidth utilization returns to normal after it, you can be sure that the problem was caused by intruders.

But the intrusion may not be the question. Most of BitTorrent, iCloud, Dropbox or another application of data on clouds intervenes when mysterious bandwidth by a Mac using. If you use iCloud, please uncheck at least iCloud in its pane preferably by car and see if there is no change. If you use a backup software or the third-party network file-synchronization, disable that. If you use a torrent client, remove it.

Otherwise, if you're running OS X 10.9 or later, you can see which processes are most active on the network.

Launch the activity monitor application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Select all processes in the view menu, if not already selected, and also select the network tab.

Click on the header of the column of bytes transmitted in the process table to sort the entries of the bandwidth. You may have to click twice to get the highest value at the top. What is and what is the process? Repeat with column bytes Rcvd.

    Screen Shot 2014-08-26 at 12.18.02 AM.png

I think I need at least as much GBs on the system, as is the virtual machine? Done my MBA and smaller machines, is not possible. But when I move the virtual machine to a bigger machine like my iMac, with a big disc of TB, I can do the resizing. Is it the way it is supposed to work? Perhaps, I do not have this right...

    thx for all the advice!

Yep, that's the way it is supposed to work.  The close, move it to the iMac, expand drive, then arrest him and bring him back.  Make sure you choose "move" not "copy" when migrating to avoid triggering the activation of windows.

Regarding what is eating space inside the virtual machine, you will have to consider for the guest OS for more information (which are not a matter of merger).

To free up space on the host, with closing VM, go to settings, click on the circle of little tiny refreshment next to the space bar, then if she said cleaning recommended, go into general and make a clean virtual machine.

  • My phone bill is too much. Someone ask me why?

HELLO, I live in Tulsa, and I moved into a different House in Jenks 2 months ago. I have AT & T and my phone used to be only $120 Bill, but after I moved my phone bill went up to $600. Help someone because I can't deal with this much longer price. I have an iPhone gray space 6 more.

I suggest that you talk with AT & T. Your invoice should be detailed and you can see what are your fees. No one here would be able to answer questions about your billing without having him here in front of us, and we really don't want to do. AT & T can explain all your charges with you and discuss any changes you can make. It is a significant change, so I think something has perhaps inadvertently got changed.

FYI, I have AT & T with 5 phones and cell iPad and my Bill is 1/2 that amount.

I just upgraded to the new version of firefox. for some inexplicable reason, you have added icons to the left of my choice of personal menu in the menu bar. • Photo library take too much space even with active iCloud

I am paying to iCloud and I have hundreds of GB available, yet my iPhone 5 c is constantly telling me I'll have storage problems, mainly caused by the photo library, containing several GB.  I have iCloud library enabled, as well as the option 'optimize iPhone storage '.  Photos latest have already transferred in my library, so I know that photos download correctly and not late, but why the library still takes so much space?

    Because it is.

If you have used all available space on your phone, you need to remove some content on the phone.

The setting "Optimize phone Storage" is not magic. Your phone still has a finite amount of space. It may be that pictures should be removed, but it will be something.

Check the settings > general? Use storage & icloud. Look what's too much your space.

    Say hello to new parthcool.

It is a normal behavior of a browser like Chrome or Firefox.  You run several tabs in Chrome?  Chrome treats each tab as a separate instance of the browser and for this purpose a separate process.  It is a good feature because it means that a hanging web page will not (usually) bring down the browser everything.  However, this means that Chrome uses a lot of RAM.

Using intensive plugins memory within these tabs, like Adobe Flash, will greatly increase the amount of memory used.

Here is a screencap of my own memory used within Chrome.  I did open Chrome before that and I currently have seven tabs.  This represents about 400 MB with pages containing the text for most.

Unfortunately, because this is a consequence of the features of the browser itself, there are only a few options to solve the problem.  You can try to minimize the amount of memory that Chrome uses by following the instructions in this article.

Your second option is to upgrade your laptop to include more memory.  You also extend the usefulness of your laptop.  If you want to go this route, I need your product number to locate the appropriate parts and information.  Follow this document to locate the product number.

Finally, and this is probably the most effective solution, is to use the Ready Boost of the window function.  Ready Boost allows you to use Flash memory, such as a USB key, as secondary memory for your computer.  Here's a great thread in which explains how to use Ready Boost.

I hope you find this useful parthcool; have a great day!

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • Explorer.exe and svchost.exe using too much memory

I have disabled the automatic updates after the last round of updates, and now, all of a sudden, explorer.exe and svchost.exe use too much memory... enough to interfere with other programs, I try to use.

    Help?

Windows XP Professional - Svc Pack 3 processor: Intel (r) Pentium (r) D CPU 2.80GHz CPU speed: 2.73 GHz memory: 512 MB

Why you turn off automatic updates?

There are between the two options. I just set it to notify. When it is practical, I go to the Microsoft Update slte and use the custom (not Express) option. This gives the user full control of the update of trial.

You will have a better idea of the cause of the problem using Process Explorer.

    Download Process Explorer.
For more information about Process Explorer, see here:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/ProcessExplorer.mspx

With svchost.exe provide us a list of services using the process. There are number of processes that are using svchost.exe, so we need to know that we provide more targeted assistance. Right click on the process, click on properties and look at the Services tab.

Solution Explorer. exe has a number of subprocesses. Select the sub-process, click Properties and check the Services tab.

Have you recently changed all types of starting any service. This often leads to the problem. Users often disable a reflection of service to speed up the system performance. In practice what is done is of one or several programs to malfunction.

    Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

  • Photosmart 5510 "disabled" related "to the use of too much power.

Printer worked fine. All of a sudden when I turn on the printer, I get an error message indicating that a device has been disabled because it used too much power to the computer via the USB port. I receive a message within printing itself was to say that the printer is offline or not connected, but it is connected properly as it always.

I restarted the iMac (10.7.5), uninstalled/reinstalled the printer software, disconnected/reconnected the cables, tried other USB ports... done everything I can think of. The message I get on the "device" does not specify which device, but I get the error message whenever I push the button 'on' on the printer.

I don't have a wireless so that is not involved. It seems that the printer is permanently "disabled" due to too draw on the Mac? Never heard of this and they need to fix it!

When you try to setup assistant to reinstall the printer is not recognized, even though I know that it is properly connected and turned on.

Any help very graciously agreed. Thank you.

    Hi Katecrimson,

I understand that you use a Photosmart 5510 with an iMac and you get an error indicating that a USB device drew too much power of the computer, so it has been disabled. I will certainly do my best to help you solve this problem!

What you have described, and what I could find online, it seems like it might be a problem with the USB cable. I would recommend that acquire you another cable to the printer and try this. I would recommend that once you say USB cable, disconnect whatever it is what USB connected to your iMac, it reboot and then proceed to connect all the devices back, leaving the printer until the last. With a new thread, you must run is no longer in this error.

Hope this helps, have a nice day!
